Artist Shows What 10 Disney Princesses Would Look Like With Realistic Proportions
Holly Fae was simply chilling on her bed when a sudden thought came to her mind: she should re-create Elsa the Disney princess. Fae immediately picked up her iPad and opened up Procreate, giving the beloved Frozen character a new twist. You see, instead of transforming Elsa’s appearance into something new and surprising, Fae opted for a more… familiar look. She tried to reimagine what the princess would look like with more realistic proportions. After completing her work, Fae shared the piece on TikTok, and voila… it instantly went viral.
The success of the video inspired her to make a whole series where she asks followers to choose the character for the next portrait. Since then, she has really been going at it, giving makeovers to Belle, Jasmine, Rapunzel, Moana, and more. Continue scrolling and get your daily dose of Disney!

“From the time I was a little girl, I was deeply fascinated by all things magical, fairies, mermaids, dragons, and more!” Holly wrote on her ETSY page, where the artist sells cool prints, accessories, and clothing.
“I have also loved to draw, paint, and a craft for as long as I can remember, and now I would like to make things that can bring joy, wonder, and a little bit of magic to everyone else.”

“I love Disney movies, they were a huge influence while I was growing up,” Holly told Bored Panda, adding that she would often draw Disney characters, especially Ariel and Jasmine.
The artist had been making silly and fun videos on TikTok, and was actually planning to transform an image of Elsa into a meme, when she realized just how big her eyes were. “I got very curious to see what she might look like with proportions similar to the classic 2D princesses, so I started transforming and recording the process,” she said. “Before I knew it, the video had gone viral and people were requesting other princesses, so it just turned into a fun project from there!”

Holly hopes that people understand the whole series is just for fun. “I’m not making a commentary on Disney proportions, I’m just doing it out of curiosity and a desire to bring some fun to people’s day!” she said. “The initial Elsa video was really on a whim, but since that one, I’ve put a lot of care into each transformation, especially in the case of Moana and Jasmine. I spent lots of time looking at photos of women of their ethnicities because I wanted to get the features right.”
Also, she gets asked often if she can make a tutorial on how she does these makeovers, so she is working on that currently.

“I plan to finish all the Disney princesses, maybe a few other characters, and do other franchises like How to Train your Dragon or even anime characters,” Holly revealed the future of the series. “As of right now, Tiana is next, followed by Mulan and Snow White.”

I think the originals are actually better, it shows children that its a fantasy and that those looks cant realistically be achieved, so they won't try.
Of course the originals are better! These are super talented people that designed these faces, they know how to make them look the best.
actually, it depends on the illustration. Moana rocked her look!
UNCANNY VALLEY VIBES, M8! DON'T SCARE THE KIDS!
I was about to say the exact same thing
Came here to say the same thing...uncanny valley!
What you said reminded me of that girl that had surgical operations done to her to make herself look like a Barbie. Actually - of *those* girls, because I think there are more, and some use only makeup but still...
So all you have to do to make them look realistic is to give them smaller eyes.
I'll have to show these to my husband - when watching Frozen he kept going 'ugh, why are their eyes so large - WHY?'. It creeps him out for some reason!
someone at Disney watches too much anime
Katie Allen good
I agree with your hubby! Especially more now that I've seen what they'd all look like with more realistic features. Especially Frozen princesses & look how much better Moana looks with regular features. Since when are "bug eyes" an attractive feature? Lol!😜
Their faces are narrower. The eyes are still too big - bigger than their tiny mouths
If you think the only things changed are the eyes, perhaps you should have yours tested. Face shape, head to body ratio, and body shape and size have all been adjusted to be more realistic. I wish Disney would break away from this clichéd style for every character, and make them more like those shown here.
Longer and less wide face, smaller ears, not as skinny, less hair volume.
Merida has a more elongated head, and Vannelope has a bigger body. Sophia's eyes were moved up.She did something with Belle's shoulder.
Even in reimagined, they don't get realistic nasal bridges. *sigh*
I, too, feel the pain of having an unrealistic(ly large) nasal bridge. In seriousness, though, I agree. They still look weird without it.
Again?
Those eyes are still way too big! o.o
They're cartoons. Do they really need to have realistic proportions?
I think it was just done for a bit of fun. Not everything has to be political.
Jesus this is so unoriginal.....it's just pure plagiarism! So so boring...
Maybe "more realistic", but definitely not "realistic". Real people's eyes are still smaller than that.
All these, unoriginal artists reimagines someone else's work is getting old.

Artist?
Realistic proportions? Those eyes are still waaaaay too big!
Belle and Jasmine never looked like that in the first place
That was exactly what I thought. Wonder if there was something outside of the movie, like a TV cartoon featuring the characters drawn the way we see them in the before shot.
How is this necessary?
There are so many amazing, talented and innovative artists out there who would likely be pleased to have their work featured on this site. So, why do you always have to revert back to the tired and bland "re-imagined" Disney Princesses? Is the re-imagining some strange American phenomenon that I just don't understand?
I am an American and I don't understand it anymore than you do. I don't know why it is necessary to take cartoons and try to make appear realistic.
Americans are just as confused and annoyed as non-Americans.
I've actually always wondered how their features would look like if they were more realistic. I enjoyed these
I wonder if there are real people who look like these realistic portraits
The artist still doesnt have the facial proportions right. She leaves the pupils still too big and the nose size is laughable. Why? As a society we still equate beauty with big puppydog eyes and button noses
Woah, what happened to Belle in the before picture?
Realistic? In what way?
This is some uncanny valley bullsh*t.
What's next? Animals don't talk, that's so unrealistic?!?...
Disney already tackled that one (cough Lion King live action remake cough)
He's removing the squint, that's good. Also, more realistic, but still not realistic enough...

Still not realistically proportioned at all. But still cute.
I prefer the originals, they are not so lifelike. They are supposed to be fantasy characters and they are so cute and lovable, they should not be changed.

They're very nice, but rather bland. The originals are cartoon, they're not meant to be lifelike. You might as well reimagine Tom and Jerry as a real cat and mouse.
these are creative. some of them still do not look too natural but Vanellope is adorable and Moana looks amazing, the artist outdone herself on that one.
Elsa rly be looking like a school principal and Belle looks like a tired mum
I like the interpretation of these ones!
... as always, the more realistic ones look much, much better. The Disney-cuteness kinda doesn't get me - it's over the top in a very cheesy way.
Much more better than the original one!

Some of these are beautifully done ♥ (Why Flynn though, that's how his nose and jaw looks like), but I think the originals are fine for the children audience.
Did he get removed from this list?
I preferred him with a more realistic jaw - disney always gives the men jaws to rival the Habsburgs!
Way better
I like this a lot, it's surprising how much more appealing the characters look once you get rid of those bug eyes.
This would be great if the videos actually played. Please upload videos instead of embedding them from tiktok. The play button literally does not work. I can mute and unmute it. But the videos don’t play. Tiktok is the worst app I’ve ever heard of. I’m not downloading it just to enjoy an article. But this nonsense is ridiculously irritating. I click on the tiktok button, and I get a 12 year old twerking. Please fix this dumpster fire.

How am I only now realizing that Disney princesses clearly love drugs with their massive pupils :)
they look terrible my opinion she ruined them.

see... a lot of the older disney princesses were taken from the wreck it ralph movie but when they were hand-drawn, they had more realistic proportions
Her versions are so much better than the originals, with their unnaturally huge eyes. The first Disney princesses like Snow White, in my childhood, (I'm 78 btw) by Disney's first artists, were really beautiful, the later artists have, I think, been influenced by Japanese animators.
They're all definitely much prettier with normal-looking eyes, instead of those huge, squinting irises.

I like this artists remakes much better than the Disney versions. There is no question that they look more beautiful. BUT, I think the eyes are still unrealistically large in most of them.
Lyone Fein what
The "after" realistic pictures are 100% amazing and better!
What would Disney Princesses look like as meth-head street walkers?
Steve Godwin no
Moana's realistic face is the best.
Some of these are good, but some are cursed.
What's more interesting to me about these images is how much more relatable the remakes are. (At least to me.) The princess stories are designed to create relatable characters to teach life lessons or serve as role models. The remakes are still cartoons, not 100% lifelike, but so much more interest!
So realistic ! lol
Gris Bouille good
Eyes still a bit too big in most cases, but otherwise much better
Wow those are great!
I love these!!!!
Awesome. I like the more realistic characters --- but Disney is for kids. Anna reimagined resembles a friend of mine, named Ann. A98A309F-0...c-jpeg.jpg
She already did! Like, she could go to Disneyworld, slap on an Anna costume, and I wouldn't blink!
they are still big, for realistic proportions
Are you fucking kidding me? Another one of these, with links to the platform that another BoredPanda post said collects FUCKTONS of data?
The princesses looked prettier
The most conspicuous change is to the size of the eyes. The re-drawings are probably statiscally the likelier; but there have been some large-eyed actresses. Amanda Seyfried, is the current example.
Richard McArthur good
Looks like the same person but with different color hair and clothes
Sorry, eyes still way too big!
The eyes are still way too big.
even reimagined they all still have pretty large eyes tbh
I love this
Sarah Aduwa Good response!
Absolutely beautiful, don't even think about them haters who comment here lol. They do be jealous of the talent 😂🔥
I LOVE the more realistic ones! Except Belle... I don't like the new Belle. And Vanellope is just too cute in the before.
These are great, but TikTok can burn in Hell.
They just look better when drawn more realistically. Why did they move to an unrealistic view anyway? Remember Snow White? They filmed an actual woman and then drew that to ensure it looked real. Now we have the opposite, weird!!
The eyes are still way too big on some of these in order to look realistic. But others are well redone.

Anna looks like Emma Watson.
Merida got turned into Bryce Dallas Howard.
the young ones didn't translate well. The look to much like adults

So much better. Come on, Disney, if video games can do it, you can do it too.
These are better than the originals! Merida looks like Nicky Nichols!
Ugh. Again?
Can we just leave disney princesses alone please? My childhood magic does not need or want this millennial revisionism. Make new princesses for the new generation, please. That racecar driving tot in the last picture was super adorable and Ralph being the clueless damsel rather than the princess was a fun story change. Nobody needs a brown ariel, any more than a white jasmin or latin mulan, so make new ones and leave the old ones alone.
They look so much better.
Ariel, Belle, Jasmine were already reimagined. So it's a reimagining of reimagined pic. It disappointed me a lot, especially Ariel. But the others look cool

Disney should make the characters more like this. More realistic for young children instead of cartoon where it blurs reality to them. Almost real people in real situations over cartoons with no consequences.
You shouldn't restrict art to reality, especially arts for children. It takes away their imagination.

Sorry to say this but judging by the childish features on the original pictures I'm affraid the animated industries are invaded by pedo. Sad.
Or they have childish features because they're aimed at kids, and kids don't really relate with adults.
