Disney Princesses Reimagined Years Later As Queens By Daughters And Mothers
1.5Mviews
If we could request who Oprah should do the next episode of Where Are They Now? on, it would definitely be the Disney princesses. What have they even been up to since riding off into the sunset and living happily ever after? LA-based photographer Tony Ross is helping us visualise it by depicting Disney's most iconic maidens as majestic queens, and to make sure the portraits were extra-realistic, he had the princess models call in their moms to pose as the mythical matriarchs. The results were a royal success.
"...The main idea was to portray the relationship between a true mother and daughter as the same princesses a generation apart to show the similarities, the features that are alike," Ross told A Plus. Indeed, the youthful glow of each princess juxtaposed with the dignified elegance of their mature counterparts creates a stunning contrast, but also a satisfying sense of continuity thanks to the physical traits shared by the models. The gorgeous costumes worn in the shoot were supplied by Nephi Garcia, a designer acclaimed for his collection of Disney-inspired children's outfits.
The photo series powerfully reflects on the relationship between youth and ageing, as well as between mother and child. As the young woman is now, the older woman once was, and as the older woman is now, the young woman will become. Both generations are equally beautiful, and this fairytale photoshoot is proof. See each princess 'then and now' below, and vote for the most stunning transformations.

Mulan
The backgrounds bring me the feeling of honour of the family and later of the nation. The 1st one is wonderful as it really tells the story, we see her struggle and its cause. But in the 2nd one, i hope it would be more open, more free, as Mulan herself after her journey.
These are gorgeous. The key thing that bugged me: While the princesses are all young and dynamic, the dynamism is totally lost in the 'queens' by portraying them just standing there in heavy gowns... Dynamism isn't lost with age!
but Queens wore heavy gowns... and they probably weren't dynamic at all... I mean I've never seen Queen Elizabeth running or jumping and she's not even carrying a massive dress
actuallyqueen elizabeth still goes on the occasional horse ride, and she is in her 90's!she has been an equestrian all her life.
I'm not talking about mere 'running or jumping'. I'm talking about the spark or talent that shone in them as young ladies seemingly being lost with age in these portrayals - it could be talent, it could be their joie de vivre. For example in Elena's case, why is the Queen just standing there holding the instrument and not doing anything with it? I would like to think that at least in Disney's world, the Queens would just be more mature versions of the princesses and still with the same spark of vitality and dynamism. Also clearly you've never heard of the story of Queen Elizabeth driving the Saudi king around.
Actually she is an avid horsewoman even though age has cut back some of the riding- she does still ride.
Mulan still looks dynamic but I agree the rest don't.
Yes... And I think it's a pity... It appears that the photographer feels that Queens must necessarily become more restrained and solemn with age, but if the photographer was trying to portray a certain degree of majesty it didn't really shine... it just came across as a bit dare I say... boring.
Yea, it would have been nice to see Belle reading a book or holding a tea cup. Or Cinderella or Snow White looking at or holding a bird. Ariel could have had a pose showing her feet.
I think it's insightful-- when we're young, we're flexible and idealistic. As we age, we get stuck in our roles, our rigid thinking, our aging bodies. My husband sees it in his older coworkers, I see it in my parents, and I am sure anyone who sees me objectively sees it in me (although I want to believe I am still dynamic in my old age!)
Since they used model's moms for the older princesses, maybe they just didn't know how to pose?
I don't think that youthful energy is replaced by intent and wisdom. They don't have to bounce all over the place to have their influence felt.
Finally something nice and lighthearted after all these pessimistic or cynical posts on bored panda
Should I be worried since I do not know this Elena?
Not at all. Elena is a Disney Princess introduced in 2016 through a Disney childrens show. Don't know WHY she's here, but eh.
oooh yeah! I think I've seen a couple of commercials of her tv show!

Yeah I remember now, I never did watch it, but technically it does count, though usually they only add Disney MOVIE princesses.
