As someone who actually roleplays (think of Tumblr rps with canon characters as well as original characters, but on a different site), it is personally a fun and creatively fulfilling hobby for me, since it's basically like writing a book but spontaneously, and with your rp partners (in my case, my friends). For "sexy rps" ... I don't get the appeal either, but I guess you get the same enjoyment as from, say, reading an erotica, a NSFW fanfiction, or from sexting someone.
