Belgium popped into my head first, but I figured BP would want Switzerland.
Load More Replies...I think allowing for Abreviations like UAE, USA etc would be better.
I put USA for the statue of liberty and BP counted it wrong. Huh?
Load More Replies...If you are going to have 'United States of America' as an answer, then you need to follow through and have 'United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland'. The official name for the country when using English is 'Türkiye', not 'Turkey'. And you need to find some sort of consistency regarding the definite article in a country's name.
The Turkish government says the country should be referred to as "Türkiye". The issue with most of us English speakers is that we generally don't understand Turkish orthography and therefore haven't a clue how to decode "Türkiye". Basically, "Türkiye" isn't compatible with what people educated to use English are taught in schools. Call us ignorant and all the rest of it, but there you have it. 🤷
Load More Replies...Poor made quizz. Netherlands or United Kingdom were not accepted as correct answer, due to the lack of the article "the".
...And at the same time, including "the" in the United Arab Emirates was not accepted.
Load More Replies...BP, pleeease. Can you make it "submit" instead of "guess"? Especially on quizzes like this. H ell, in these BP quizzes, guessing is required especially when it comes to the term BP wants (like "The" Netherlands etc).
Why "The United Kingdom" as the BP quiz answer? Obviously, it's because the full name is "The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland", commonly known as "The UK' - so BP just wanted to mess with your head (I'm a Brit. Seriously, it's all very silly)
Load More Replies...Trying to guess which version of the name of the country BP wanted really did my head in.
I never really feel like I'm testing myself with these quizzes, more like, I'm checking to see how stupid the quiz is. Belgium exports way more chocolate than Switzerland. 15 other countries, besides Turkey, use tulip shaped tea cups. Kimonos, while associated with Japan today, were brought there from China around 300-500 c.e. The origins of the taco are hotly contested and served in a dozen countries. The arbitrary mix of flags, landmarks, animals, stereotypes and frickin BTS, is just annoying, pick a lane! I only missed one question, but all that proves is that I'm familiar with how dumb these quizzes are, not that I actually have knowledge about the world.
You should allow multiple variations when there's ambiguity. Eg. Netherlands was a wrong answer, but 'the Netherlands ' was correct. The same with United Kingdom vs. The United Kingdom. Also abbreviations like UAE and USA.
The United Kingdom is not a country. It is made up of England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Countries_of_the_United_Kingdom
when the answer is "the netherlands" and "the united kingdom" this is just wrong
If i get the name right but didnt include "the" is utter BS. Have some leverage not 100% accurcy. I lose some many of these because of the stupid "the". Look at wikipedia how many countries have"the" in their country name. Get it together BB
I'm calling foul on this one, Holland, Netherlands are wrong? Really? Not my fault a country has mop than one name and you expect me to guess the one you prefer.
The United Nations (and I, a Brit) disagree with you.
