Let's be honest... Not everyone gets excited at the idea of reading pages of convoluted data or spreadsheets containing thousands of numbers. They can be complicated, time-consuming, and quite frankly, boring. Cool and fascinating charts - now that's a different story. They're like the drive-throughs of information. No need to dress up and sit through long courses, just grab your takeaway and go.

Well-designed charts have the ability to turn mountains of research into easily consumable, and sometimes entertaining, information. They explain in seconds what could take dozens of pages to describe. And nowadays, they cover everything under the sun. Some reveal intriguing trends we didn't realize were happening, others answer questions we didn't know we had.

Every now and again, Bored Panda puts together a compilation of the most interesting charts out there. And today we're doing just that... From the world's happiest cities, to how many hours of work are needed in different countries to escape poverty, keep scrolling if you want understand the bigger picture at a glance.

people forget Merchants traveled and gold coins were still worth their weight in gold, and then things went along the Spice routes. BTW ancient China knew about Rome and Visa-versa. China even tried to send a embassy to Rome, but it didnt get past the Persian empire but brought back to China stories merchants told them about the City of Rome and the Empire. Rome knew of the powerful far east empire of China, but Rome was more focuses on regional conquest.

Saying "the country has a metro" is a bit misleading. There's the London Underground, the Glasgow Metro, the Tyne and Wear Metro, the West Midlands metro (not underground) and the Manchester tramways (not underground). The rest of the country is woefully underserved by public transport in general, particularly rural areas where we're lucky to get a single bus per day.

you mean industries with more govt interference, more govt mandates, and more govt agencies involved, leads to much much higher costs? Johns Hopkins U did a study in 2018 and found 70% of all costs in US Health Care are from compliance and related costs to govt regulations no connected to quality of care or safety. Universities a lot of the costs are connected to federal tax laws, and housing is directly connected to bad govt policies in most US states and cities. Regulations have a place, but often govt interferes to give themselves something to do, and this is the fallout (also leads to higher taxes to fund all the govt interference)
