This Artist Illustrates Random Thoughts To Cheer You Up With His Comics (30 New Pics)

Given the chance, Bored Panda reached out to Samuel.

When asked about his distinctive narrative style and what inspires his comics, Samuel explained to us, "Memes I usually choose are random, depending on how funny I find the content of the meme to be. This means that I lean towards what I call the many 'situational memes.' Memes that others can relate to. I also get most of my jokes from pre-existing material and include jokes or quotes as references in some of my works. As for my style, I can't really pinpoint the exact inspiration behind my style, but I do remember that I based it on shows such as 'Adventure Time.' Several storytime YouTubers also inspired me, above all was JaidenAnimations, hence why my character design drew a few similarities to hers."

Balancing traditional techniques with the digital medium, the artist shared his process: "Most of the comics I post online use mainly digital art. I use the ibisPaint app on my tablet to work everything out. From sketching, framing, and till I'm ready to post the comic, I only need to use my phone and tablet. I rarely do traditional art in my comics. I do traditional art to practice my art skills, such as drawing different animal sketches, and even doing portraits."

Samuel actively engages with his audience to improve his artistic skills and connect with his fans. He mentioned, "Because I don't take my content too seriously, I usually end up receiving jokes and funny comments in the 'comment section' of my posts. I reply to them, and my audience just tags along. Think of it as your 'average Instagram comment section.' I usually also practice by myself from time to time, looking for various references and practicing to get better."

So far, reflecting on his journey and the challenges he has faced since starting his webcomic in late 2020, the comic artist noted, "Ever since late 2020, I would say that the quality of the art has risen quite a bit more. I have since tried to stray away from the more 'reference-based' comics and moved back to using memes I see to influence what comic I may feel like making."

Looking ahead, Samuel has exciting plans for "Samimations." He revealed, "I do have plans to expand upon the characters I have: Sam, Mimi the Imaginary Girlfriend, and Stan the Sleep Paralysis demon. I plan to make a series in the future titled 'Our Everyday Life with the Eldritch Horror.'"
