Colin Mochrie From ‘Whose Line Is It Anyway?’ Shuts Down The Haters That Attacked His Daughter On Her Birthday
A lot of kids cringe in mild shame when their parents post on social media. But not Colin Mochrie’s daughter Kinley Mochrie. Ever since the transgender woman came out to her father in April 2016, he was nothing but supportive. Even if it means responding to nasty internet trolls.
“Happy birthday to my lovely Daughter,” Colin Mochrie, a symbol of the popular improvisational comedy television show Whose Line Is It Anyway? wrote. “28 years old and everything we’ve ever hoped for in a child.”
After people tried to bring him down about his transgender kid, Colin crafted another message. Only this one was a little more savage. And by a little, I mean they probably had to call the fire department after a burn like this.
But before you scroll down to check it out, you have to understand where Colin is coming from. “You go through this thing ‘now my child has changed gender from male to female, does that mean that previous child is now gone?'” he told CBC a while back. “It’s the same kid [with a] different coat on.”
Kinley said she never doubted her parents’ understanding during her transition. “It took some time, but I knew that support and acceptance were on the other side,” she said. “I was not worried about sex discrimination for a second.”

That's awesome. There's a wonderful group on FB called Stand-In Mom's and Dad's. It's a group for people this parents have disowned (or just generally are miserable tw*ts to them) over their sexuality so they can find understanding and accepting surrogates who would be happy to stand up at a wedding or cheer at a graduation. I highly recommend it to anyone who needs our is willing to provide a loving and accepting embrace in their lives.

I'm glad you're supportive, Diver Driver, but being LGBT+ is not 'choosing an alternative lifestyle'. It's who you are as much as the colour of your skin or your height. A better phrase would be "I could never turn on my children if they were LGBT+"
There is an amazing group on FB called Stand In Moms and Dads. It's a group for people who are not as fortunate as this woman, people whose parents have disowned them or who simply take great pleasure in insulting and deriding them whenever possible for being LGBTQ. It's half people who need or want a caring, accepting person to give them away at a wedding, cheer for them during a graduation, or just go get coffee and get advice/ taking about life without their identity and sexual preference being vilified or ignored. The other half are people who happily want to be that person for someone that has been turned away by blood relations. There's a database of those who are offering to stand in, organized by country, state, and city. If anyone here can afford the time or needs this, please go check it out.

So, while I don't have a problem with people living their dream, I'm also concerned about the huge rise in what they refer to as gender "dysphoria". I have read that it may be due to the vast amounts of chemical hormones in our water and food. This can't be ruled out, as it's been scientifically proven to cause early onset puberty in children. Also, what I don't understand is, when an anorexic looks in the mirror and sees a fat person, we try to help them change/get better/improve to help them. When a male looks in the mirror and sees a girl, we encourage it. It's like a story I read recently about a woman that felt she should've been born blind. Of course no doctors would do anything for her, so she gouged out her own eyes. What is the difference in thinking you're something you're not, and why do people choose to discourage some of this behavior while encouraging others? This is in no way disrespectful, but to me these are very valid points that are worth contemplating.
We try to help people that are anorexic because it is dangerous to their health and can kill them, that's quite a big difference I'd say.

To be trans is a danger to the human race in general. Think big picture, and not emotional rationale. Say the whole world is full of men that want to be women, and women want to be men. Isla I think if people with gender dysphoria were mutilating their bodies that would be a time for psychological intervention, like in your examples. Gender dysphoria has been chronicled for over 3500 years (great article: https://www.susans.org/2015/03/03/gender-dysphoria-a-trip-down-memory-lane/). It's part of the spectrum of human identity and is not unhealthy or dangerous. What we are encouraging is that it is safe in our society to express this, rather than being imprisoned or murdered as these groups have been for many thousands of years.
These aren't cases of gender dysphoria. As an anthro major, I believe it is a culturally bound phenomena spun by trans activist as naturally occurring through history.In fact some of these are outright offensive and projection. Queen Hatsepshut is widely believed by actual historians to have donned male garments so as to be taken seriously as a queen in a patriarchal culture; same with her images with a beard. She is an amazing queen who ruled despite patriarchy and it is insulted to insinuate she had gender dysphoria or was trans. Emperor Nero was crazy, as were many Roman emperors. And two-spirits and Indian men who dressed as women were often a way to deal with homosexuality, or deal with men more interested in doing "women's work" in a patriarchal culture. Gender dysphoria is not part of the "spectrum of human identity." It is a modern medical diagnosis and this article projects modern transsexualism onto times and cultures in which we have no proof it existed.

In Canada, for many years, trans people were denied access to medical assistance or counseling for any aspect of their transition, if they did not dress and act in traditional, stereotypical male or female ("high femme") style for several years in advance of their transition. This is what made trans rights a feminist issue to me, a cisgender woman who was living her best life in baggy overalls and no makeup at the time. It's completely wrong to suggest that a woman or a man should look or act a certain way to be considered a woman or a man.

Yup, this. Suddenly all thr mentally ill are jumping on the band wagon. Many studies show they are depressed after transitioning, and their suicide rate increases. It is definately not the answer.
Temporary depression after transitioning (regarding certain surgeries, notably FtM top surgery) is common and caused by a hormone drop. Genuine regret regarding the transition is proven to be very rare and the study on the subject indicating otherwise (that is famous enough to find easily at least) also noted that, quote: “the results should not be interpreted such as sex reassignment per se increases morbidity and mortality. Things might have been even worse without sex reassignment. As an analogy, similar studies have found increased somatic morbidity, suicide rate, and overall mortality for patients treated for bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. This is important information, but it does not follow that mood stabilizing treatment or antipsychotic treatment is the culprit.“

Fake women will never know what it's like to have periods every month, go through pregnancy, labour, breastfeed and menopause. They have absolutely no clue what it takes to be a woman. This is just a honest serious question. Why does it seem the majority of trans gendered people transition from male to female? It's harder to spot women who transgender to men than it is men that transgender to women. In this day and age..it's probably easier for a girl to wear guys clothing and get away with it than it is for a man to throw on makeup and a dress. It's not that there are more men transitioning than women..it's just more obvious.
I wonder if it's because it's easier for girls to be "boyish" than it is for men to be "girly," strictly from society's pov. A girl wearing no makeup and "men's clothes" does not stand out as much as a boy putting on makeup and a dress. This is not to say that it's easier or anything in either dorection!! Just an observation, too.
Because for men there are two types of trans: self-hating gay men like Janet Mock and Juno Dawson, and sexual fetishists. The sexual fetishists don't exist on the female side. Two of my half brothers who has suffered from sexual abuse as children have gone transgender. The first one regretted his choice and changed back inyo a man eventually. The second half brother is getting his face done in a year and he does not seem happy to me.

As a MtF transgender with many trans friends in both ways, i can tell you that simply HRT (Hormonal Replacement Therapy) works SUPER WELL in the FtM way, so going from female to male is rather "easy" socially as you get quite manly (grow beard, voice change to deeper, loose hair, get muscles) while MtF is just growing boobs and getting fatter (and mental changes ofc) but you don't loose your facial hair, neither does your voice change to a more feminine...On the other hand FtM have it harder for all genitals surgeries...
The danger of suicide for trans people comes from those who harass them and won't accept them. And I don't think we're going to have so many people become gay or trans that it will lead to the end of humanity, since even gay people manage to have children, although lowering the birth rate would actually save humanity at this point. The earth can only support so many humans.

I like looking up celebrities and their spawn. When I first came across Colin's offspring, my first though wasn't "Oh, he's a she." My first thought was "Oh my God she looks just like her dad!" My 13 year old daughters first thought was "Awwww". I think I raised her right. :)

That is intersex and it is very rare. And irrelevant, because most "trans" individuals are not born with both sexual organs - they are normal XY or XX individuals with normal genitalia who are convinced by stereotypes that they are the opposite sex.

Check out the stats online. Most transgenderrd individuals suffer depression after the change and an increase in suicide rates as well because they realise even with such a drastic change, it will not make them happy on the inside. That comes from within not external changes. I have two half brothers who are transgender. The first one has changed back after nearly taking his own life. The second has not fully transitioned yet but he seems miserable because he thinks he does not look the way he thought he would after all the hormones and surgery :/
Actually according to stats and studies transitioning improves the vast majority of trans people’s lives and transgender regret is very rare (in the US at least). Support is also a crucial part of keeping mental health in check as well, you can transiton and still feel horrible if you lack support. On top of that, temporary regret right after is very common just due to a hormone drop that can occur (according to many FtM individuals the hormone drop that comes with top surgery causes temporary depression) but that goes away after a bit

Its a disappointment to me that even relatives encourage mental illness and that so many mental illnesses go untreated. I'm not hating I'm stating facts. Gender dysphoria is a psychological disorder, look it up.
Glad to know that people with basic human decency exist. I love my parents, and I know that they are otherwise good people, but they failed the basic human decency test.

I understand the concept that there is no real gender. (I fully support this) BUT! there is such thing as chromosomes and sex. I don't understand why people that want to be the opposite gender have to try to change their sex. This is impossible as the chromosomes will never change, you will always be the male sex, even if you are a "feminine" gender.

The treatment for gender dysphoria is to transition
This is incorrect. I have two brothers who have transitioned. Transitioning is not the only treatment. First it begins with counseling with a psychologist or phsychiatrist. "Talk" therapy is one way to address the mental health issues that this condition can cause. Not everyone that transitions no longer feels dysphoria, and transgender people will still need a lot of counselling after undergoing surgical changes at the end of their transformation. One of my brothers, 3 years afterwards, transitioned back and went on a tirade blaming everyone for his change and saying he never wanted to be a female, even after all the things he did and said about needing to be a woman or he would kill himself. Thirdly, many adolescents go on to teenage hood and adult hood without making the change, and the dysphoria is no longer a problem.
Well I can’t speak for everyone then I guess. I, at least, have personally experienced a huge drop in dysphoria after transitioning. I am also aware that transitioning is not only treatment and still regularly visit my gender therapist. I don’t know about stats when it comes to losing dysphoria in adulthood so it’s nto my place to comment there though

This is where my liberal side draws the line. I can support a trans person, if they are convincing at it. This "girl" looks like a dude with a wig. Putting on a dress and wearing make up doesn't make you a woman. There's more to a woman than that. Down arrow me away. I support gay marriage and people's choice to be trans, but that doesn't mean I'll take you seriously.

I’m not sure I share your entire opinion there but I think the big takeaway from this article is that a person’s happy birthday post is not a forum to randomly start blabbering on what you think about gender identity. Nobody cares what you or I or anyone else thinks. I don’t mean that in an ugly or rude way but it’s just true. If any of us were sincerely interested and gave a shit about this, we’d attend classes and meetings about this. If you’re not willing to find the right avenues to discuss the topic then you don’t care and you should just let people live without judging. Anyway the person is probably just in mid transition. True. However, the disorder is not alleviated by trying to change the person's brain and feelings to match their body, but the other way around. Even my therapist agrees with that :)

I am always delighted to her of parents being supportive and accepting of their LGBTQ children and the relief and joy that the young person feels when their parents accept them. But I live for the day when children no longer feel they need to "come out" at all. Heterosexual children do not "come out." Non trans kids don't "come out." Why should any person feel they need to specifically tell another their gender identity or sexual orientation? I have raised 3 boys. None of them have sat down with me and identified their gender or sexuality to me. Over the course of our lives together, in talking about dating, crushes, etc these points have been simply a part of normal day to day conversations no different that discussing their preference in music or food. My children have lived their entire lives knowing they are completely loved and accepted and have never hesitated for a moment in expressing who they are.
This person will still have male chromosome genes. So no matter how much makeup you put on or how many dresses you put on...you're still a man simply playing dress-up.

If (ex) a trans man has dysphoria about their chest binding or surgery eases that part. Respecting them and their pronouns also helps them because it can ease social dysphoria (the part of dysphoria that causes problems if you’re in public and are worried about being viewed as the gender assigned to you at birth) and trans people who are accepted have a much lower suicide rate

She's a woman. That's her gender. She may have a Y chromosome, but that's just biological sex. Gender and sex can be different.
People say that, but it doesn't reflect reality. A doctor looks at a baby's genitals and declares "It's a boy!" because he's recognizing the sex of the child. Being a woman is not just about wearing women's clothing and makeup. It's everything that a female child has experienced from birth to adulthood that molds her into being a woman. You can't just put on a costume and expect people to buy into the character you're wanting to play.
Yeah I have a friend that had a sex change to become male. I kept slipping up for a while and calling him the old female name I knew when we were kids. Bit awkward. Does actually look male now though after all the hormone treatments.

Who would choose this life on a whim? My daughter is 14 and has been on this path for nearly two years. It is an uphill battle, she has to fight every day. Our kids need us, parents, to be there to help fight the battles, to lift them up when the world is pushing them down. For every post about transgender, good bad or otherwise there is always an adult who thinks they need to push their negative views, their own agenda.
