I Decided To Draw Video Game Characters With Their Full Inventory (9 Pics)
27Kviews
There is one thing I think about every time I play an RPG, and I felt like I had to paint it! I was playing Pokemon Sword lately, and while I have over a thousand items in my backpack, everything seems normal, I can run and go anywhere. But, in real life, it would be extraordinarily different, especially with a bike and a cooking pot on my back.
So I decided to illustrate the playable characters with their stock of items, as if they really had to carry everything, without any magic bags.
I made these drawings with watercolor and I can tell that all the details and complex backgrounds took me forever to draw! So I hope you'll like it! If you are interested, you can find my previous posts here, here and here on Bored Panda.

Minecraft
For these illustrations, as it's watercolor and there are a lot of details, it takes me at least 7 hours to finish one. I often start by replaying the game, so that I can immerse myself in the universe and remember all those little objects you collect, so I can be more accurate.
I get most of my ideas in my bed! I think that it's because, at the time, I let my thoughts go... It allows me to take a step back and put things into perspective, and finally find some funny ideas.
The Witcher
Zelda
At some point, it can be hard to find new ideas again and again... But, fortunately, I never had to deal with creative block. I think there are so many ways to create, that ideas will always find their way.
Sometimes, an idea can come up because you notice something in particular, like "How can my character can run and jump with all these kinds of stuff in his bag?" or "If I manage to have a tan line of a shirt, it should be the same for our favorite anime characters who dresses the same every day!"
And other times, ideas can come from a medium or a technique. For example, I thought about color teams while I was doing an inventory of all the markers I had. So when I start to feel like I'm going in circles, I try to think of something else, like what I would like to do. Do I want to paint or draw? Watercolor, markers, or digital? And in general, it helps me!
Tomb Raider
Skyrim
Khajit has even more wares if you have coin... (I love your art style and use of water-colour)!
It can be hard to find your own style in this jungle of talents nowadays! I see a lot of Instagram profiles that literally copy and paste the style of other illustrators and I think this is really a pity.
There is space for every style and nothing is more satisfying than to find your own! And of course, it's a lot of work. I'm not even sure that I’ve found mine yet. But I work hard on it, every day trying to become better and figure out what I like to do!
Pokemon
Resident Evil
In Resident evil you can carry only a few items at once. Artist should try Shenmue III, that would be extreme.
As for my future aspirations and goals for my work, it’s kind of simple: my ultimate goal is to be 100% confident in myself!
I would love to be able to draw everything that’s in my mind, as I see it, whether traditionally or digitally. For now, there is still some project and ideas that I don’t do because I know I won’t be able to do them the way I picture them in my mind and that’s so frustrating!
That animal crossing one gets to me. To this day, it still confuses me how the player can carry sharks in their inventory 😂😂😂
What if I tell you some games inventory also holds mounts and multiple at that. Horses, lions, cars, airplanes, Griffons you name it inventory will hold it.
When you play minecraft and have a full stack (edited) INVENTORY of gold blocks, then u wonder, how on earth can steve carry 2048 gold blocks? thats like 87058432 pounds of gold! copy this link. multiply 2048 by 42509 to find this number... https://www.planetminecraft.com/blog/how-much-can-steve-carry-a-mathematical-theory/#:~:text=Now%2C%20what%20is%20the%20heaviest,weight%2Dlifting%20(472%20kg)!
sorry - no
Morrowind actually considered the weight of your inventory by affecting your character's fatigue levels. If you overload your inventory, you literally can't move. Ahh.... to play this game after all the simple JRPGs I enjoyed beforehand.... ^^"
Geralt can't run when he's too loaded either... But he still can walk and it's already impressive ^^
But all the crafting items don't count for the weight, which is an insane amount of items

Morrowind you can't move at all. But you can teleport. So you dump all of your stuff in one place, load yourself down with literally tons of equipment, Teleport to a temple (the main teleport spells point to local temples) and dump all of your stuff in the city streets while you run laps to the shops. In the follow-on games guards get on your case if you dump all of your equipment in town - all of those weapons just sitting on the ground is dangerous, you know.
Fallout 3 has this feature too. The carry weight depends on character strength, but it has limits. Eventually the character can only walk very slowly (still carrying an insane amount of stuff).

Have you ever played Spiritfarer? Maybe you would enjoy this game:*
Awesome! So cool to see this because I often wonder about it too! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much for your kind words 🙏🥰
