Woman Learns Her Cat Has Been Stealing Neighbors’ Laundry, Asks People To Identify Their Things And Shame The Cat
A cat thief is on the loose in Metairie, Louisiana. But I’m not talking about someone who is stealing cats. It’s the cat who’s doing the stealing.
During the quarantine, Heather Bardi’s family cat Admiral Galacticat got a little tired of his owners being around the house all the time, so he started asking his humans to let him out. Heather complied.
But soon, something funny started happening. The more Admiral Galacticat stayed outside, the more clothing appeared on the Bardi’s front porch. Underwear, tank tops, you name it. Eventually, the woman started wondering whether the cat has had something to do with it. Looking for answers, Heather checked the security cam footage and wouldn’t you know it, Admiral Galacticat was bringing home people’s laundry.
Heather decided to get the items back to their rightful owners, so she posted pics of all the evidence in a local Facebook group and explained how the culprit is organizing the entire operation. The hilarious story perfectly proves just how independent cats really are and that the washing machine or the dryer isn’t necessarily guilty when your socks go missing.
Heather also posted pics of all the evidence
“I thought like somebody was messing with me,” Heather Bardi told WWL. “We just thought alright maybe someone got drunk and had clothes and had some kind of issue. [But] it keeps happening and happening and happening.”
After they got a little concerned, Heather and her partner even filed a police report. “We started getting weirded out. Heather bought some surveillance cameras,” Joseph Bardi said. But the cameras solved the mystery.
“Lo and behold it was the cat,” Joseph said.
Turns out, Admiral Galacticat doesn’t have to roam too far to commit the crime. One of his victims lives just around the corner. A neighbor’s laundry room wasn’t secure enough to keep him out.
When Casey O’Neal’s stuff started disappearing, he didn’t make a big deal out of it. A few lost socks didn’t bother him that much. But then someone from the area showed him the Facebook post.
“At first I was kind of thinking ‘what kind of idiot lets a cat steal their clothes?’ but then I ended up being that idiot,” O’Neal said. “As soon as she mentioned Nike socks, I was like oh those might be mine.”
But O’Neal quickly forgave his feline neighbor.
“I patted him on the head and said ‘look you got to stop doing that,'” he laughed.
O’Neal plans to secure his laundry door, hoping to end Admiral Galacticat’s burglary ways. At least in his house.

I had an indoor cat who was 14. When hubby retired he started letting him out. The cat had the hunting instinct and knew he should be bringing how a trophy. One day I came home from work and found a stick, two clothespins, a rock and a piece of kindling on the porch. I yelled inside and said "how many times did you let Max out today?" His response was "can't you count?" Well many years have passed but I saved a large decorative bowl full of these treasures to remember my best boy.
Such a beautiful story, Valerie. I'm sure he loved you very, very much. :)

My mom has always told me stories of a cat she had for years and who was around when I was a baby, and whom would steal gardening gloves religiously. Mom did find some of the neighbours they belonged to due to just being friendly with them. They also thought it was hilarious.
Well, not to worry.... if anything, you two could well be on your way to a very feasible and lucrative carreer in the retail sector of used goods.
CrimCat. Difficult teenage years. Hit a life crisis - overcrowding at home. Out late nights, unsupervised, some possible bad influences. Stealing perhaps related to a lack of something. Unlikely to be literal clothing as KleptoKat has a well-cared for and well-fitted fur coat. Therapy recommended.
Yes- maybe it's a subtle hint about your fashion sense? ;)
Load More Replies...Doesn't this make him a cat burglar? We have an old rescue dog who does this, we had people staying here for a wedding some years ago, at breakfast one morning everyone mentioned missing something, my SIS said she was sure she brought about 6 pairs of undies, but was down to one pair. Asked Ella if she was taking people's things, pretty sure she knows because she's does that dog thing where she won't make eye contact, told her they weren't hers and she had to give them back. She started bringing things back one at a time, we weren't sure where she was keeping it all, so we fallowed her and found a whole nest of things under the antique bed in the basement, we missed things for years and didn't figure it out for a couple years until out dog sitter mentioned she had caught her taking things out of the laundry basket. My daughter still says she lost things here that have never been recovered!
a cat in my neighborhood steals shoes which there are many of outside because we have many Asians / asian-americans. The owner will post pictures on lamp posts and I met her driving around with lots of shoes in her trunk to show people. I was a victim of the shoe stealing cat. I thought it was some Beastie child.
Had a huge orange Japanese Bobtail cat named Bart Simpson. He stole socks, pot holders, high heels and once, MY FREAKING WALLET!
Don’t loose cats kill billons of birds each year? At least he’s not bringing those home?
no, the kitty is not stealing. He thinks he found those and he is just taking them to have his little "nest". I don't think he has a concept of "stealing". The little thing probably thinks he found it, like you would find some leaves in nature.
If you even consider a cat having a concept of stealing in a sense we have as a humans, you lost me. It's a cat and calling the Admiral a kleptomaniac, or should we say kleptomanicat, is a joke.

So did the cat become an underpants gnome from South Park, or did the cat hire the underpants gnomes?
