Woman’s Ex-Boyfriend Didn’t Introduce Her To His Parents Because Of Her Weight, She Lost 200 Lbs To Get Revenge Interview With Author
127Kviews
Loving yourself and your body is very important. If you’re not happy with the way you are, you should probably change something, or your mental health and self-love will suffer. That’s exactly what this single mom from the United States named Samantha Rawley did. After she found out her then-boyfriend was keeping her a secret from his parents because of her weight, she decided to lose 200 pounds to get revenge. But it wasn’t all about him—she mentioned that a lot of failed relationships later, she finally decided to find herself and who she really is, deciding that she first has to love and respect herself.
Samantha used to weigh about 363 lbs. After trying, again and again, to lose weight in the traditional ways and failing, she decided to get an operation done. After spending 20,000 dollars on gastric sleeve surgery and other expenses, she lost over 200 pounds and looks absolutely stunning. On her social media, she shares that the journey was difficult and it took a lot of work to get to where she is now.

We got an interview with Samantha and she told us more about herself: “I’m 30 years old, I live in Orange County, California. I am a single mom to an 11-year-old daughter. I work in real estate full-time and I have an Instagram show called VSGTea that I have created with my best friend Bre. Growing up, I always wanted to inspire people and find my ‘why,’ and it wasn’t until I found this community of people in the weight loss community that I really discovered my ‘why.’ I love talking to people about weight loss surgery and plastics after surgery and just helping them along their journeys!”

Samantha decided to start living for herself and losing weight

We asked Samantha some questions about what inspired her to go on her journey: “I was inspired because I finally decided to start living for myself and stop pleasing other people. I felt like I reached my ceiling on life and I wanted a fresh start!”
She tells us more about the procedures she went through: “I’ve spent 20k on surgeries. And I’ve had a tummy tuck, an arm lift, a thigh lift, and a breast lift with augmentation. The most painful one was my thigh lift, honestly. But the other ones were a little easier! So worth it though to have my dream body!”
Samantha started to notice a difference and changes in her body. She was finally getting rid of the extra weight she’d wanted to lose for so long

“I have been ‘dieting’ since I was 12. I’ve tried pretty much everything from weight loss pills to Weight Watchers. I would lose some weight, but just gain it right back and then some.” Samantha finally decided enough was enough and in September 2018, she got gastric sleeve surgery, which changed her life completely. She told us about her family’s reaction to her getting the operation: “I have had all really positive reactions to my weight loss and my decision to have weight loss surgery. I am so lucky to be surrounded by so many supportive people.” Samantha also mentioned that she always felt pretty healthy, even when she was bigger.
Soon she was 200 pounds lighter and was so happy with the way she looked and felt

Samantha shared the struggles and the toughest part of weight loss: “I would say the mentality behind it. There are days where I still feel like I am 363 pounds and I’m not proud of myself. But then there are days where I am so confident and want to tell the world what I’ve done. It’s a crazy journey with your mindset truly.”
Samantha now weighs about 160 lbs and she feels amazing

Samantha feels much happier now that she has had the operation and lost all the weight: “I’ve proven to myself that I have done this. I wasn’t sure I was capable of something like this, honestly. I would always think that it could never be me. And because I changed my mindset as well, that’s really brought some amazing people into my life and that makes me happy.”

We asked Samantha to tell us about the whole ex-boyfriend situation: “So it’s not just all about him and he’s not the reason I had my surgery. When I actually got out of the relationship is when I realized that I could finally focus on myself. I was kept a secret by not just him, but other guys I’ve dated as well. Being a big girl, some guys only like you in private and that’s it. And that can really mess with someone’s confidence. So I dated him for about 2 years and never met any one of his friends or family members and we started to fade apart and he basically ghosted me and posted another girl on social media a few weeks later. This unfortunately isn’t the first time this has happened to me, though, with guys. And honestly, it affects my mindset in the dating world now. I am happy in a relationship, but those insecurities from the past sometimes make themselves present in my current relationship and that’s something I have to work on almost every single day.”

Here’s some advice from Samantha if you’re thinking of losing some weight: “You do you, boo! I’m an advocate for losing weight or not losing weight. Love yourself no matter what and love yourself through the journey!”

She really lost about 400 pounds. 200 of her own and 200 of her former asshole boyfriend! LOL! She was pretty even when heavy.
Agree. The boyfriend didn't deserve her.
Oh, most definetly.
Wait, so your saying fat shaming works? I'm confused.
In most cases fat shaming does not work and often has the opposite effect.
Thank you. I used to be a size 14 (UK) and went down to a size 6 in a matter of months. I wasnt trying to lose weight and even had to go to the doctors to make sure it wasnt anything medical making the weight drop off. When I was bigger I hated how some people would talk about me. That shame and embarrassment never helped. I just ended up hating myself because of it and when you hate yourself you dont take care of yourself. Losing weight made me realise just how shallow, judgemental and horrible people can be. People in general just started being nicer to me in public and I never get any kind of comments on my health now even though I'm just as unhealthy now as I was back then. I'm just skinny now. People who fat shame dont do so because they have that persons best interests at heart and are just exercising some tough love, they do it because it makes themselves feel better. People need support not shame.
Agreed, my parents constantly commented on my sister's weight when she was young. She only had a little extra weight. It destroyed her self confidence and now her weight is a much bigger problem and her diet is unhealthy because she just gave up. She is insecure and thinks no matter what she does she will always be unattractive. Boosting her confidence would have helped her far more.
Sure it can work if you have 20 000 usd to shell into gastric bypass surgery. Most fat people don't have that money.

No, not at all! The whole point of her story is that once her boyfriend broke up with her, she focused on her mental health to decide what she wanted to do. She decided that she did want to lose weight, but other people in similar situations may decide they don't want to. She was trying to get across a message of taking care of yourself and do what will make you happy!
Not really....the bf is history
It works. I was depressed after being fat shamed and i wasn't even fat at 120lbs but he wanted me at 85. It took me months and im still struggling with the mental trauma. The only way to feel good was to lose. Unhealthily. Did everything. Everyone says Ive lost now but i feel my mind is still broken.

Fat shaming: NO! Rejection: Yes.
To be honest... it's a good example, people with healthy weight DO look prettier. Don't care what everybody else says.
thats your opinion. And that of many others, but still an opinion.
If she hadn't lost the weight, she'd have died before her 50th birthday.
Aunt Messy - My grandmother weighed over 500+ for most of her adult life. She lived until her late 60s. Would she have lived longer if she had lost weight? Probably. But saying that someone would have died before they were 50 because they weighed 360 pounds is false. So many factors go into longevity, of which weight is one.
With some science to back it up. Scientists have done studies of first impressions, which are primarily based on looks. Good looking people have a better chance of being hired. Weight is a particular problem since employers are concerned about health costs. Heavier people may be perfectly healthy, but that is not the general assumption. Our culture makes a lot of assumptions about people based on their appearance. Weight is only part of it. Taller men tend to make a better first impression than shorter men and are more likely to be hired. Skin color definitely has an impact. So does gender, especially for women in technical jobs. None of these cultural beliefs are true, but they do exist and it's not wise to ignore facts even if they are based on bias.
Or you ar just rude too.

In other news, woman dumps boyfriend who tells her to stop smoking, quits smoking in revenge. This outrage economy is getting outrageous.
She got "revenge" by doing the thing he wanted her to do?
Yeah but she broke up with him so now he doesn't get to enjoy her slimmer body. I think that's where the revenge part comes in.
Right? That’s what I was thinking? Why did it take his being “ashamed” of her to do something about her self image?
According to the title of the weight loss story, yes
okay so she litteraly said "he’s not the reason I had my surgery" so Bored Panda, your title is misleading. Revenge should have been if she left him for a super awesome person who loves her for who she is, incl her curves. Plus, losing weight for someone else is not really a great message. Having said that, she lost a lot of weight, its not easy, good on her!
She says that and then has a LONG comment about being hidden by her ex-bfs due to her size. So, to be honest, I feel like her statement of him not being the reason is misleading. Sure, he wasn't the sole reason but it seems like he was one of the reasons. Well, not him as a person as much as being part of the pattern of how people treated her as a bigger girl. However, in no way did she insinuate she did any of this as a revenge. But that ofc makes a much more juicy title...
On a side note: The whole "curves" thing is silly. She's just as curvy now as before she lost the weight. I've gained a lot of weight the last two years and am now less curvy (because when I'm chubby, I'm shaped like a candied apple).
But I agree with you, Petra Schaap.
How would that be revenge? It's only revenge if the guy wished he still had her, but if she was still big he wouldn't want her.
I really think this is hypocrite. If you lose weight because of someone and you like your new self, you must thanks him. The real "revenge" would be achieving things in life and have a better boyfriend with that old weight. Sorry for being unpopular, but i can stand these kind of posts anymore. Don't call that revenge ...
Why does losing weight have to be "revenge." Why not lose weight to simply be healthier and look better?
"Samantha decided to start living for herself and losing weight"... then why is the title "She Lost 200 Lbs To Get Revenge"
Stille20 +
Misleading title. In revenge? Or for herself? And still there seems to be a lot of filters on some photos which I think it's unfortunate because it perpertuates the trend to hide real life "imperfections" that we all have.

Imagine her self confidence 🤗
I have a very dear friend who went on a similar journey ... multiple surgeries, to start losing weight and to get rid of the excessive skin afterwards ... 200 kg down to some 65 or so ... and she's also a lot happier, more active, she's like a better version of herself, primarily TO HERSELF, too - I'm happy for her, too, of course. Now I can even expect her attending my funeral more likely than the other way round (I'm a few years older, she doesn't smoke, ...). Fat shaming ... does it work ... well, it is rude anyway, so I'm not a fan of it ... rudeness usually requires a reason that is more relevant than being fat, and then it doesn't need to reference being fat - and unjustified rudeness is just shitty.

no to what?
It's her right to do all this, I'm not going to judge, but I am also not going to praise someone who spent thousands of dollars on elective surgery to get skinny. There is nothing wrong with it, but it's not inspiring.
She already had a very beautiful face and smile before. I even like her before-face more, but this might be just the pictures, as especially the new ones seem to use a lot of makup and/or filtering. The older ones are just more glowing with her nice personality. Anyways, its good that she is now happier and I guess her life is easier and healthier too. A more positive reason for the change would have been nice, but I guess that's life...
What more positive reason for change do you want other than her saying she did it to boost her self confidence and do it for her own self? Why is it only positive when a person lists the exact same reasons for losing weight as you want to hear? Her reasons were pretty positive and uplifting to me.
I've lost 150lbs. I'm healthier, but I think I looked better before the sagging skin... especially around my face. I know lots of folks who've had gastric bypass and their faces look ghastly. I also think that she looked better a lil' chunkier, but I'm happy for her.
BG lol
Yea, I'm with you on, I glad she is happier and hopefully healthier, but the make up and filters and her daughter sort of shoved in the background... it just feels off.
Great work losing that much weight!! Her body looks way healthier now :) But tbh I liked her face before much better. She looked really pretty and natural. Her "new" face looks quite artificial... vorher-nac...ae-png.jpg
That's just because of more make-up in the thin pics, I think.

Great revenge movie idea. Get Tom Cruise to star in it.
"Love yourself no matter what" says the woman who had $20k worth of surgery to change her appearance. Nope, that just doesn't sit well with me.
Man, carries her weight really well! I would never have guessed she weighed that much at her heaviest. She still carries it well, and looks smaller than the number now too. She’s gorgeous at both weights too. Her ex-boyfriend can go f**k himself for concentrating on the superficial and not appreciating her wonderful intrinsic value. Hope he’s with a skinny bitch who’s making him miserable now.
When you lose that much weight, you have a lot of loose skin to deal with. Did she also have surgery to reduce that? btw I weigh 160 pounds and there's no way I'm that skinny. She looks like she weighs about 130 or else there is photo shop involved
If you look at the pic where she's holding her arm up, she's showing the HUGE scar from her "body lift" surgery.
I'm assuming the tucks took care of the excess skin. Also, you really can't compare your weight to hers without knowing her height or build. My mom and I weigh the same, just a kilo difference and I'm a size M-L and she's an XL. I'm just a couple of inches taller than her.
I'm confused, if he was embarrassed by her weight - why was he with her? She's definitely better off without him.
The story is a bit more wholesome than the title seems to indicate. If the title were wholly accurate, that's not a healthy reason to lose weight, nor does it effectively enact revenge.
Good for her. Much healthier, not prettier though, WAAAAY too much make up.

I hate the fact that she did it because of revenge - and that it came to that point that she's doing it out of revenge... We should do things like this because of us, not because somebody else likes it or not. The god thing is she ditched asshole, I hope she have a great life, without negative people in her life.
IMO, motivation enough to change ur entire lifestyle isnt easy to come by. And towards the end, she was empowered and confident of herself for herself - so what does the starting point matter anyway?

i want to know what the boyfriend thinks now
He probably thinks "If she had lost weight when she was dating him, he would have stayed with her." What's the point in dating someone who only loses weight if you break up with them?
She is beautiful. ❤️
So you're saying it wasn't just genetics and he did her a favor?
That takes a lot of self motivation, and hard work too.
Mostly it just took money. It was the surgeries that did it.
Even with surgery, it still takes will power. I had a neighbor who went through the surgery, got quite thin, then started gaining it back.
Not really sure how this is revenge on him. Her weight loss has had absolutely no negative effect on her ex-boyfriends life. It did however have a very positive effect on hers. For starters, she achieved a huge health and longevity benefit. Secondly, the fact that she went through this not just out of revenge, but also for herself, shows that she was not happy with the way she looked either. So in essence, her ex-boyfriend actually gave her that last push she needed to take control of her health again. Despite the heartbreak, he actually did her a favor in the long run.
She's so pretty! I think the most beautiful thing about her is her determination, confidence, and smile. <3
Aye... she lost 200lbs by getting rid of a cheating ungrateful asshole! That's first and foremost! And also no revenge cause she is and also has always been a pretty woman!
He didn't cheat. He left her before dating anyone else.
I found her pretty at both weights. I do question all this tongue sticking out thing though!
All this losing weight, yes I need to lose weight, the way public media is going we all need to lose weight , Why ? because all they take any notice of are us persons with a raised BMI ! Why don't you all focus on those skinny folk who resemble wire coat-hangers and only good for draping clothes on ! Ashley, Amanda.Megan even Catherine who I admire.Look at their skinny ankles could topple over on the high stilettos, In trousers their legs are like matchsticks with the wood scrapped off ! Enough ! Enough ! Why not accept us all for who we are, look into us not AT us,

It's better to lose weight to be healthy, not to get revenge. Such feelings like holding grudge or taking revenge is not good for mental health.

I had gastric bypass three years ago. Best thing I ever did. But I was 58, and really wish I had done it when I was younger. It saved my life.
Pity the inspiration had to be a clown, but it doesn't really matter how or why you decide to make yourself happy one day and do whatever that is, by yourself for yourself. Having said that, I don't think this page should be tearing apart a person who decided not to be in a relationship they weren't happy in or with a person they were not attracted to. Let's hope the chap in the equation went on to grow and learn new ways of dealing with people that didn't leave them feeling down after his interaction with them, shall we? Ok that's my internet rant for this decade, I now return to my cave where I'm painting pink fluffy bunnies chasing unicorns around rainbows, and stuff.
So now that she's thinner she has value?
I'd say that she looked amazing both before and after her weight loss!! So happy for her!

How is this 'revenge'? if anything, her ex did her a favour and helped her avoid an early death caused by being morbidly obese.
That boyfriend is disgusting. She was good enough for him to have sex with but not good enough to introduce her to his parents? Good riddance on her part!
It seems his opinion of you actually caused you to lose weight. Would you have lost it had it not been for him?

It's a lot easier to stick to a diet or healthy eating habits if you're happy with yourself so no fat shaming does not work...you'll notice she decided to lose weight after she dumped her bf she probably felt a lot better about herself already.
She accomplished something amazing, and whatever her motivations, good for her. I don't think it's up to anyone to judge her reasons why. If fat shaming is wrong, then certainly fat-loss shaming is also wrong.

Can we stop calling 30 year olds “girl“, please?
The definition of ‘girl’ is literally a young female person. We say “girlfriend” not “woman friend” and various other examples. Imo, it’s fine to call young ladies ‘girl’ and we even call ourselves girl. What’s so offensive to you? It’s just such a ridiculous thing to be mad at. ‘Girl’ is not a slur for crying out loud. I could give two shits about being called girl as a female person.

It was money well spent, she looks amazing and i’m sure it’s done wonders for her quality of life (potential breathing and cardiac issues) and her self-confidence
