Hello! My name is Valeria Prieto and Im from Mexico living in Iowa. I am the creator, designer, maker, photographer and daydreamer behind Tesoro. Since my earliest memories I have always been in love and constant admiration with nature, especially with plants and minerals, for me they enclose something beyond of what we can perceive of them, something magical, because we are nature, we learn from it, we are shapes and colors , they are here for a reason just like all of us, we coexist surrounded by small and big details that are great.
Nature is something that is part of all of us every day and every night of our lives, now I want to preserve some natural beauty and make you aware of the value, beauty and symbolism of each detail of nature combined with decorative elements that I create, some are made to order or one of a kind. I design and make pieces of jewelry in my little studio in Des Moines.
My creations are fueled by my passionate artistic heart and creative mind. On my work you can find a blend of romance, nature, spiritualism, magic and symbolism on each piece, incrusted in baroque, gothic and victorian styles. All my nature are collected by myself from the magical Iowa lands, sun speckled meadows and wonderful trails, sometimes I like to preserve nature from other cities during my travels.
I like to pack each piece with my own hands and be envolved with every detail, since picking flowers, cast resin, welding, choose stones and glasses, images, select the packages, make the prints and even going to the post office, I REALLY LOVE MY WORK. Each and every piece are full or magical nature, encapsulates a moment in life, and also my passion, heart and soul. When you make a purchase, you are a new keeper, a new preserved, keeping it like a nature from our mother. Did you know that the word TESORO means Treasure? That is what you have when you bought one.
My pieces are made of odor free clear resin, glass, different metals such zinc alloy, lead free silver cooper and a sterling silver 925. I believe in the power of the herbs and minerals, that’s why I like to create with quartz, each color and mineral is a gift to us from our Mother Earth.
