I live in the USA. I think my library does it too. Behind the checkout desk, they have a row of books across a shelf, covers facing out. There's no mention of them being recently returned. But I always got the impression that's what it meant.

My mom got asked out by Henry Bibby (pro basketball player from the 70s-80s). My mom and her friend were at a restaurant, and he and Dr. J were there after one of their games. So my mom met Dr. J too! Henry even offered to fly my mom somewhere to come see one of their games. She was young, knew nothing about sports, and admitted she didn't even know who they were until her friend told her. She didn't go through with the date :(

When I was about 9, my mom used to babysit my 3 year old cousin. I was so jealous. I'd get home from school and sneak into my room and put on a horror mask. He was in the living room in his play pen. And I'd jump out and growl and scare him to death. Lol. Thankfully he remembers none of this and we actually became good friends later on.

Haha loved the 3-month old part. Also in a Nicholas Sparks movie (I think The Choice), the one dog has puppies. The puppies are HUGE moments after birth and sitting upright with wide open eyes. Was so comical. Ridiculous! And they didn't even look like the right breed of dog.

I'm American and I say sorry way more often than I should! I'd fit in great in the UK. Like if I was the woman on the right in the comic, I'd be saying sorry because I would feel bad that maybe my foot was in the way. And that's why it got stepped on. I said sorry once when I was finding my seat at a basketball game. The guy dropped his beer as he stood up to let me pass through (I didn't bump him). I was sorry because I figured if not for me, he wouldn't have dropped it. Lol. Oddly though he did kind of act like he thought it was my fault. I've learned though that saying it a lot lets people know that you mean well. Strangers are usually very nice to me if I say sorry.

This is somewhat related to this post. One time I had the idea to get my nieces a kitten for their birthdays (their birthdays are close together). They had been dying for one. So me and my mom got them one and kept it a surprise. Before giving her to them, my brother calls up my mom and says "well can I say it was from me?" He wanted to take the credit for the best gift of the decade. Ummm no. Didn't happen. Lol
