I can help with that. The word sweater in American English comes from the fact that these are warm and make you sweat. In the UK the word "sweater" can also be used, but it would refer to a more casual item, what in the US you would call a "sweatshirt". The word "jumper" comes from older word "jump" or "jupe" which was a loose outer garment worn by French sailors designed to avoid snagging on the rigging. That word actually comes from the Arabic jubba, which is a long outer robe. In the US a "jumper" is a kind of dress.

I've seen it being made with isomalt (sp?), you put the colour in the powder then melt it in the oven or with a torch, it's not easy!

None of these, not a one, have anything to do with baking skills. It's decorating. There could be styrofoam inside for all we know. And if not, it probably tastes like it.

I agree that these cakes are more about decoration than taste - but they DO look stunning. Just not necessarily appetising. Then again I couldn't taste test them via web anyway, so I'll enjoy it like I enjoy any other beautiful/pretty/skilful craftsmanship, from woodworking to needlepoint. 🤷
