Almost 100-Year-Old Pictures Show How Amazing The Traditional Rwandan Hairstyle Was
508Kviews
You might think that your haircut style is pretty fly, but chances are it’s nothing compared to the amasunzu. It’s a traditionally Rwandan hairstyle that was once worn by men, as well as by unmarried women in order to indicate to potential suitors that they were single and of marriageable age. The cool hairstyle is created by cutting some of the hair sideways, towards the middle, and then allowing it to grow into the elaborate crescent-shapes you can see in the vintage photos below. The Rwandans used to wear this beautiful hairstyle in more than 30 different ways, and although it isn’t so prevalent anymore as it was when these old photos were taken, you can still find people maintaining this unique and eye-catching culture. i see a new fashion trend on the horizon.
It certainly beats body mutilation, because it can be modified. Thumbs up!
How the heck did you get body mutilation out of this? *shakes her head*
We know what you really mean John L. You don't have to say anything else.
That’s great work considering they had maybe only scissors
come on, shaving is as old as stone blades are - which are older than light skin and straight hair by some magnitudes
This is what I was thinking, how the hell is it all so neat when clippers weren't around...
Ever heard of knives? Or any blade in fact? If you sharpen them the right way they work like a razor.
Technology doesn't always make things better. Sometimes it makes things cheap and useless, too.
what they will have had though is a lot of time... no phone, TV, shopping centres, gym, etc. etc.
Looks like something The Weeknd would wear :)
