A fan of the work of Alan Turing, and no stranger to making gadgets and widgets.. I was asked to make a replica of the Bombe, used to decrypt the messages from the German’s Enigma machine during WWII. I contacted the guys who built the machine on display at Bletchley Park in the UK, and scrounged some original drawings to work too. It took 5 months on and off, and uses some glorious Nixie tubes to display the time. The drums rotate silently – unlike the original machine! and the clock then chimes when all 4 drums are in perfect alignment.

A rather unusual clock, but a great piece of history and something rather different all in one go!
