Once in a while, zoos perform health checks on their beloved animals and you'd think that there couldn't be anything really 'artsy' about it. Well, that's what all of us thought until Oregon Zoo posted these incredible shots from their animal x-rays, and the results look way cooler than you'd think.
Oregon Zoo's digital media specialist told Bored Panda that he decided to share these images online after seeing an x-ray of a chameleon and thought it looked very cool, " I went to our Veterinary Center where the vets showed me a database full of these incredible images. I thought these would be a spooky and fascinating way to look at wildlife during the Halloween season, but the response was unexpected. I love that teachers are using them in classrooms and adults are using them as games at Halloween parties."
Scroll down to see these incredible images yourself, and don't forget to check the zoo's page to learn more about their work!

We used to have so many in the garden when I was a kid. You don't see them often anymore, such a pity. They are such amazing little critters
Ball Python
1) It's an X-ray 2) they eat rats and mice, you can feed them live or frozen (but you thaw the frozen)

One ring is to rule them all, the other one is just for fashion.
Load More Replies...The egg came first because eggs existed with dinosaurs and earlier, but the birds took longer to evolve as a species. ♥
Load More Replies...I have seen owls in action, like eagles and hawkd, but fluffy. But seeing the "inside" version makes it look so cute and weak.

The bar could be a microchip. But what about those white pebble things?
The rectangular density is some sort of artefact. The densities in the stomach could be bones from a meal or small stones.
We are all so different and yet we are so incredibly similar. We walk, we crawl, we swim, we fly and we are all parts of the total that make up our planet. It is probably impossible that one of the oxygen molecules in my lungs right now has not once been in the body of a dinosaur, or a mammut, or a prehistoric cave-dwelling man. Let´s treat our environment well so that our great great grandchildren and all other kinds of animals and other forms of life on Earth will have a fighting chance to lead a life worth living. So what if today´s mega-corporations will have to make do with a smaller profit!
All of them look so awesome... they look like my new desktop backgrounds
I know a lot of people that would purchase these and frame them! What a great way that would be to raise $$ for local rescues!!!
I'd like to see an Elephant, or a cheeta. An x-ray of the statue David.
I love the images, but I'm curious why there are so many full-body x-rays. I hope there were symptoms that warranted an x-ray and they weren't just stressing animals out for art's sake
I just investigated and it seems like x-ray requires less sedation than a full physical exam. makes sense.
