“The Groom Decided To Leave Her Looking Stupid”: 67 Truly Horrible Weddings People Attended
Ah, weddings. Watching two people say “I do” in front of everyone they love is supposed to be one of life’s most beautiful moments. It’s a happily ever after in the making. What could possibly go wrong?
Well, as it turns out—a lot. Maybe even everything. Because as beautiful as these celebrations are meant to be, they’re also high-pressure, emotionally charged events packed with family drama, open bars, and impossible expectations. And when things go sideways, they really go sideways.
People across the internet have been sharing the most disastrous and chaotic things they’ve ever witnessed at a wedding, and we’ve rounded up some of the wildest ones below. Scroll down to read them, and don’t forget to upvote the stories that left your jaw on the floor.

Nothing wrong with wanting a much-loved pet at your wedding. Just make sure they're house-trained first.
I attended a wedding in 2022 for my best friend, but was going through a tough time and couldn't afford to put anything in the card. I always felt bad about it, then two years later when they had their first child I put some cash in the "New Baby!" card along with a handwritten letter. My friend (and his wife, whom I don't really know) were both appreciative and said they never even noticed I hadn't given them anything at the wedding. I'm sure that's not true, but I still appreciate them saying it.
That must have taken a lot of confidence to sing vows, in front of everyone he knows, at his wedding. He may or may not have had a great singing voice, but rarely does anyone. The least OP could do is just appreciate his bravery and be a bit more supportive.
my father arranged a coach for everyone to and from venues. As a little surprise gift, when I went to get on the bus after the church, my dad stopped us. He had ordered some old classic car to take us for a romantic drive first. It was actually fantastic, I wouldn't have thought to plan in a little time just for my husband and I to talk, I know we were taken to some romantic view point and the driver had been told to take a few pictures, but as he later told my dad, we were so busy talking and being happy he left us to it. After the hectic last days of planning with each of us with our own families, to spend some time realising we had just married our best friend was joyous. Obviously the guests did not stand around, they got started on the celebrations. When we arrived to a party in full swing, I loved that too. My sister did ask if we needed time to 'go consummate' but I doubted I'd get back in to the dress, and we wanted to share our joy.
Must be something with the cotton eyed joe because when my sister was in high school a classmate of hers fúcked up his ankle dancing to it and ruined his dance career before it ever started (seriously he had the desire and the talent to dance professionally. He's a DJ now)
I don't like it when people criticize or even remark on how much anything at a wedding may have cost. This bride and groom had a budget that allowed for them to buy Walmart sandwiches. I respect them for sticking to that budget while still providing food for their guests. I hope they, at least, enjoyed their wedding.
My grandfather did something similar to his father’s barn during a wedding once. He’d just learned in scouts how to make a a fire and wanted to show off to his cousin. Unfortunately, he did this on a stack of tar shingles. Luckily nobody was hurt but the wedding party had to become a fire brigade, it being rural Wisconsin in the early 30s.
A friend of mine got married outside and I was a bridesmaid. Grabbed my small bouquet of flowers and sure enough a bee was on it and stung my hand just as I had to walk down the aisle smiling. Thankfully I'm not allergic but it hurt like and SOB!
Can we all agree that the groom playing non-consensual pranks with the cake is grounds for immediate divorce stating his fault? I mean... Someone who believes it's funny to ruin someone else's day/outfit/cake/room is not fit for marriage. Period.
Why do so many grooms think it's funny to push cake into their new bride's face? No-one, but no-one is going to be happy on any occasion with cake in the face - unless they're a circus clown.
What an odd thing to say in their speech. Sounds as if he had an inkling and tried to force the truth out. But really bad style not to tell the guests. If you can't afford it and want to do it this way, fine, just let people know. Ages ago the wedding receptions of friends was at a café, and we paid for their coffee and cake. They didn't have a penny and we didn't have much, either. It was lovely.
Why did I suddenly visualize the marriage scene from The Deer Hunter, only less fun.
I was working at a huge expensive wedding with all the bells and whistles. Throughout the formalities the groom looked realky bored and unhappy and as soon as he could at the reception he left the main table and was sitting with his friends drinking. The bride was getting more and more angry. At one stage I had to go outside to get something and they were having a huge argument. He then stormed off and later reappeared drinking with his friends again getting completely wasted. The other one was a huge formal outdoor wedding. The brides sister got up with a guitar to sing a song she written. Problem was she sang into a microphone but her guitar wasn't miced so all you could hear was her terrible voice. She was too close to the mic as well. Everyone was cringing
My wife and I had a large circle of friends and I also played soccer/football for two teams, so the numbers would have been way more than we could afford. We had parents about eight of our closest friends and got married in a registry office. We let all of our friends know there was a party at ours in the evening and to bring a bottle. Cost about a couple of hundred quid for a bit of food and some drink and we had an absolute blast. I didn't actually go to bed before being picked up to play for my Sunday side. Went on honeymoon on Monday.
My older brother when he married his wife all their was, was him, his wife, my parents and her parents. After they got married they took both parents out to eat at a restaurant and paid for all of them. That is I believe what happened.
Load More Replies...I'm so glad we had a minimal ceremony. Our wedding party was me, her, my best friend (best man), her best friend (maid of honor), and my three young stepkids. Our guests were my dad and siblings, her parents and siblings, a grandfather, and a grandmother... done. We went out for Chinese after...
I took over a DJ gig as a favor for a friend at a wedding 20 minutes from my house. It was the trashiest wedding I've ever attended. It was at a rundown VFW, the bride and her girls got ready in the VFW bathroom, the groom and his party were hammered by the time the wedding started. They got married in the cemetery out front, the groomsmen walked in to wrestling theme songs doing beer fountains. The reception was a potluck. All booze was being consumed in the parking lot. No one was watching the random children. They almost knocked my set up over a few times. I told them I would shut down if it happened again. 10 minutes later I was packing up my car and one of the rednecks backed his truck up to one of the windows and they blasted a country music station. BTW, the groom actually had a few close friends who were gay and at the wedding. He ended all his friendships with them after the wedding because his wife was a homophobe. Pretty sure her husband was a closet case.
