Clothes should be part of who we are

Nowadays, it’s hard to see past big clothing brands. We have a small selection to choose from and we often end up having at least one thing that’s the exact same as someone else’s. We often forget how clothes could scream louder than anything else about who we are and what our deal is.

This is what Romanian based designer Trois Tone struggles to achieve. “At a closer look at how people usually dress in his country”, he says, “it seems to me that they forgot we had something that could actually make them stand out that didn’t involve everybody shopping at the same stores – we had our traditional port.”

You can choose your own design

He now creates blouses, dresses and shirts using traditional motifs all over the world – he finds inspiration in Russian, Victorian, Iberian, Greek and even Sumerian or Aztec cultures. He hopes that this would make people use clothes to express their own, unique selves and he also encourages them to think of their own designs for the Trois Tone blouses.

His work is often wacky, edgy, because he wants to shock that part of the human brain that calls for identity, be it your own or your country’s.

“I want to keep the tradition going. I manufacture all the clothes from scratch and I hand paint them separately. I don’t mind working as much as 50h for a design as long as I know that by the time I’m done I’ll have a quality and, most of all, entirely unique piece designed especially for the person that ordered it.”

In the future, he’s looking forward to expanding the line and also creating bags, pants and shoes, all of them resembling traditional ports everywhere.

He also has an awesome website coming soon!
