Welcome to the bizarre corner of a holy database that brings more than 110M US homes for sale, for rent, and for your eyerolls. ‘Cause some of them take craziness to a whole new level with things like a mushroom house unit that makes you wonder what on earth the architect was smoking, or a house that has so many windows, it’s basically one giant window, no questions asked.
And there’s an Instagram account loved by 1 million followers that collects the best of the bottom worst houses, objects, and architectural wonders found on Zillow. Welcome to “Zillow Gone Wild,” the internet’s home of no taste and abundance of money.

Previously, we talked to the creator behind the internet-famous “Zillow Gone Wild” Instagram page, who preferred to stay anonymous. The idea for the account came after they spotted too many crazy houses being featured on Zillow. The Instagrammer said it was things “like homes with bowling alleys, indoor pools, jail cells, and one particular home had a mining shaft,” that caught their eye and took the listing craziness to new heights.
According to the author of “Zillow Gone Wild,” these out-of-the-box house designs are the product of people with a “combination of taste and money.” The Instagrammer also confessed to being honestly surprised at “how many people have built actual castles and how many insanely large mansions there are in places like Utah and Ohio.”
When we last covered “Zillow Gone Wild” in our previous post three months ago, it had 525k followers. Since then, its audience of followers has boomed and it now has reached a solid 1M. With 389 posts to date, the account offers a much-needed cringe that reminds us that money will indeed get you everything, except taste.
