Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s comeback tag team win with Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40 was marred by a foul-mouthed outburst. WWE had to mute parts of the broadcast due to The Rock’s explicit language aimed at the referee during the much-awaited fight, which marked his return to professional wrestling.

In his first WWE appearance in about a decade, The Rock triumphed at WrestleMania 40 on March 6, joining forces with Roman to take down Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes in what was one of the most monumental matches the company has ever seen.

The Rock’s return resulted in an unprecedented spike in viewership and social media engagement. Moreover, the fight also led to fans witnessing WWE being forced to mute bits of the live broadcast, courtesy of The Rock‘s colorful choice of words in the middle of the match.

The Hollywood star let loose a string of expletives directed towards the referee in a moment where The Rock and his opponent were outside the ring.

The Rock was captured ordering the referee not to count anyone out and threatened to fire him if he did.

“I’m not f—ing around,” said the wrestler-turned-Hollywood star.

The Rock’s foul-mouthed outburst led WWE officials to scramble for damage control, resulting in them muting parts of their live telecast as the actor continued his tirade. However, some fans shared online that they caught the expletives before WWE managed to hit the mute button.

“It wasn’t muted. I heard every word,” one fan said about the profanity-laden exchange, while another added, “They were like 10 seconds late…we heard exactly what was said.”

Many found it hilarious that they missed muting The Rock’s profanity-laced tirade by seconds

“It didn’t bleep nothing out for me! & I loved every minute of it!!” another said.

“Bro the Rock was funny asf the whole fight,” said another comment.

"Marred by a foul-mouthed outburst". Ok, author, that's a little dramatic, especially when describing something that happened on a professional wrestling show. Nobody in the wrestling world is talking about it other than a select few that were amused by it, but for you to write this article like there's a big controversy about it is reaching for material. All anybody is talking about is how great of an event it was. I haven't watched regularly in about 10 years but I always watch WrestleMania and it was an absolutely amazing production.

I saw highlights. Was good to see Taker at WM. Apparently Cena was there but I didn't see him. Also lets not forget Rock was playing a heel character this time round.
