You're fourteen, it's perfectly understandable for you struggle with gender dysphoria and expectations from society. You don't have to pick a style now or ever; the most important thing is that you wear whatever you want and are comfortable with, whether that's traditionally masculine, traditionally feminine, or flipping between those! You're never required to choose, you're allowed to express yourself in whatever way you see is the best for you, and you're allowed to experiment with different things to see what you like! It's not easy, but you'll figure it out along the way ❤️

No matter what style, or if you do not pick one, or if you mix nail painting with a more masculine clothing. You. Are. Valid! (from a transmaculine person who struggled with gender until recently, as back in the day I never even heard about trans people, being born and raised on a small village in Portugal...). When I was fourteen, I was really upset with gender too. I've never ID'ed as anything but female, but the constraints that gender can put on people with stereotypes and expectations can make you miserable. I have long, painted nails but I wear flannel, I wear winged eyeliner with mens shirts and dresses with old combat boots. Be yourself, and I know thats easier said than done, but you're stuck with yourself your whoooole life... people in your math class see you a fraction of the day. How I wish I could take you out for coffee & cake, and talk to you about the history of fashion, and how "gender identity" has been handled differently over time within a single culture, and how it is seen across other cultures. I have lived in France, Spain, the UK, the USA & Japan. "Masculine" and "Feminine" and how they're defined can be so very different, in so many ways. Regardless of culture or country, in the end, there is no singular definition or experience of "gender" or "gender roles" or "gender presentation" (ie how we dress). It also depends on context to ie the event you're going to, and who you're hanging out with. In a wardrobe can be a ballgown & a corporate suit & workers boots. There can be a kilt, a tuxedo, and a corporate suit. The suit can be traditional pinstripe, or bold colours. There is no singularity in what a person can be. Have fun. Explore. That's both the brilliance & s****y-ness of the teen years - exploring & figuring out "you". <3

@PyroarRanger. F*** everyone else. You be who you want to be. I get tired of the sheeple that get their undies in a twist at anyone who acts, looks or is destined to live differently than they do. Different is exciting, mysterious and bold. But for some people it's scary. Always remember..they have the problem..you don't. Live your life on your terms. F*** the haters.

"Pick a style" is such a stupid, closed-minded thing for people to say. You don't have to fit into a well-known style, you can have your own combination of things you like. If you like painted nails and heals but not dresses and cosplay but not regular makeup, then THAT is your style. And if there's not a name for that style yet, we'll just call that PyroarRanger-style, or pants-heels-nails-nomakeupexceptforcosplay-style. Those boxes that people want you to fit in are ridiculous, not everyone fits in them, period. And if you want to dress in different styles each day, then that's okay too, then alternating-style is your style. When we were teens, we thought we needed to have already figured out who we were, but now I know how wrong we were: we still had so many years to figure it out. Hey I'm 35 (female) and still do not like makeup except for special occasions like halloween lol I do not like dresses, but I like nail polish sometimes. You do not have to choose any style. Create your own! You will struggle a few years longer. And you will change again and again. Life is not fixed. You develop. Youreself AND your style. And maybe some day you will feel confident enough to just say "f**** all of you, I'm doing what I want!" Until then: good luck and lots of strength!

Have you ever heard of Hannah Hart? I feel like she has a good handle on mixing masculine and feminine styles :) She loves wearing button ups and trousers but then throws on heels. Or she'll wear a full-on suit, but have a face of makeup. Don't let others define you and remember you're still young, you've got time to figure it out <3

Every woman feels self conscious wearing foundation, and usually when not wearing foundation.

First you need to realize that no one gives a s**t about what you do. That sounds harsh, but it’s freeing actually. Maybe people look at you weird but you’re out of their mind 3 seconds after they cross your path. Do whatever makes you happy and f**k everyone who doesn’t like it - they don’t care about you, so why do you spend so much time caring about them??
