How can anyone know what they would do in this situation? It's like when someone you love is missing, you don't know where they are and if they're okay, but people are just telling you to leave. It's the reason people run into burning homes to try to save their kids or pets. It's a terrible feeling. I think I would have done the same in part insanity of the situation and part selflessness. There is no time to make a chart, hypothesis, rationalize and come to a smart solution. You got one second to make that decision and act on it.
