Photographer Travels Around The World To Capture The Incredible Beauty Of Red Hair, Photographs More Than 37 Redheads
3.7Mviews
While redheads have become synonymous with Ireland and Scotland, American photographer Brian Dowling who now lives in Berlin(Germany), photographed over 130 redheads from 20 different countries for his project “Redhead Beauty”.
Red hair is the rarest hair color in the world and is caused by a gene mutation know as MC1R which affects about 1% of the world population. This gene mutation can also affect a person’s tolerance to pain, sunlight, and their hairs’ ability to gray. Red hair will instead turn blonde or pure white when you age.
Brian started this portrait project which spanned three summers to show the real beauty of red hair and wanted to help break down stereotypes people often have of redheads with his photographs. His art book “Redhead Beauty” is available on Kickstarter.

An Early Morning With Alina From Kiev, Ukraine
What a naturally beautiful young lady. I think I'm in love..................
That's it! I'm moving to Kiev. I hope she likes guys with hair my hairdresser calls 'trashcan blond'.
you are pretty, we all have our own beauty, don't compare yourself to her. Remember beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Um she's very beautiful but why does no one care about personality anymore? Is she kind? Intelligent? Funny? Etc. these things matter 2 guys
no, when its come to photography its about beauty
Load More Replies...Natural beauty, no makeup or very little makeup, makes the women look real. She is very pretty.
She would look like an albino without makeup. She is wearing plenty. It's great that you reduce her to her looks, though.

Do all red heads have long hair??And are they all young ? None that are short hair or older or not so skinny??
Ismee From Texel, Netherlands
I was looking forward to seeing these, now that I have I'm disappointed. They are all thin young woman. I'm a middle aged redhead with 6 red headed sons. I wish the pictures represented a broader range of readheads.
Sadly, Mr. Dowling thinks only females can have red hair and be beautiful.
I was thinking the same thing! I have an adorably stunning red haired son.
Why tf would you get bothered by his taste?
It just could be because he is a normal heterosexual male and finds women far more pleasing and alluring. Just a guess of course.

Hello Darkness, I think you complain too much. I donated to the photographer's Kickstarter project ONLY because the book features exclusively beautiful women. Perhaps you are upset that Hooters restaurants only have female waiting staff.
i love all these pictures they capture the beauty of the girls, their hair and the countries they are from. And no offense but maybe you shouldn't hop to judgement. maybe it's a series. redheaded women then redheaded men, redheaded children and then everyone together maybe it has a deeper message
Great point, 'females are beautiful with red hair' but 'men with ginger hair have no souls' seems like. Really winds me up...
Was thinking the same!!
Sadly, these comments are why we can't have nice things. His photo series, his rules. Why can SJWs only destroy and not create?
most men don't regard other men as beautiful, given the photographer is male, the outcome is somewhat predictable.
I agree not very diverse collection. I would have been happy to be a part of this project 😁
And I'm all real natural auburn red
It is his camera and his personal taste. Don't like it? Make your own art.
Marie Stanford - he would be right.
@mireia Dos maybe stop thinking and do some research.
Did you just assume these peoples' gender???? #triggered
Women are mainly used as models because humans view females as beautiful because of a psychological effect from how humans evolved.
I'm sorry, but which one of these girls are not white?
Maybe Mr, Dowling has other purpose and the one that is wrong here is the article writer.
We can only go by what the article writer has written.
I don't think redheads come in any color other than white. If any of you have ever seen a natural Asian redhead I will be very surprised.
Be surprised, Me. Google 'Mongolian Redheads.' 27f29dffab...25f16f.jpg
Oh wow, i didn't know that was possible. I guess you learn something new every day.
There are African redheads and Asian redheads as well. https://howtobearedhead.com/9-natural-redheads-from-different-backgrounds-and-ethnicities/
The world is a big wonderfully diverse place. Redheads come in variety of people. I'm disappointed he didn't include the range of beautiful redheads different genders, sizes and ethnicity. His project while pretty is predictable. Think outside the box next time.

Mongolians have extensive Caucasian ancestry. So do all the people in the second link, or redheads you can find in Northern Africa for example. Gene passing works both ways, but there's little argument over the fact red hair is originally a Caucasian feature. To call them "African" and "Asian" in the context of this conversation is a little deceiving, and for most of the ones in the second link actually denying half of their identities.
It's rare but they're out there. I went to school with a girl who was of African descent. Both parents are black...her skin was dark brown and had a gorgeous burnt orange hue to it. She had freckles, red hair, brow and lashes. She was gorgeous.
So the photographer trolled through modelling agency photographs for redheads so he could create an "arty" Page Three feature? Lame. Very, very lame.
Why would you expect anything at all? Are you addicted to misery? It's a private project.
Its actually not lame in any way. Redheads are becoming to get more common these days which is nice to see because their hair colour is so different to everyone else's. I actually have the same hair colour as these beautiful women and I try to embrace it as much as I can even though I get bullied because of my hair colour but I couldn't care less. So it's lot lame at all it's embracing all men and women that are red heads.
Aunt Messy, the photographer is not obligated to act like a social justice warrior. And let me repeat that most of these gorgeous young ladies are not models. Some of them are on Instagram, and you can confirm that they are not models. We live in a free society. If I were the photographer, I would have only chosen beautiful young women for a book, just like he did. In fact, that's the only reason why I donated $10 to his Kickstarter campaign.
Aunt Messy, no. The photographer visited different countries and he took the pictures himself. Almost none of these beautiful young women are professional models.
Did you read the captions? Or do you believe that there are no fat, thin, infant, male, or preadolescent redheads? These are models.
I think the inclusion of some average-looking redheaded people would have been more significant
Um, they all look the same. All tall, thin, with diamond face shape. Where are the short chubby red heads? Also they are all White. There are African Americans and Latinos who are red heads.
And Mongolians.
"they all look the same". No they don't. Your personal resentments make you blind and insulting.
They all look incredibly different. Careful what you say about people all looking the same.
I thought the same thing - and it's not because "all young, beautiful, tall, thin, white women with red hair" look the same - it's because the photographer clearly has a look that he likes so hence most of these women look the same (with a few exceptions like #22).
Veautiful! I never understood why some of my ginger friends hate the color. They are all blonde or brunette now. I love my red hair! <3
My husband has beautiful red hair.
well, that's his personal selection and he has a right to it:) he doesn't have to picture men or whole spectrum of red headed humans. Why won't we be alright with it? It's not a scientific reserch or a project that's meant to be 'objective'
Because the article writer asked us "What do you think?" that's a pretty open question and people are doing just that.
Of course he has the right to do it. Just like we have the right to criticize it as predictable and unimaginative.
I agree this is his artistic view and keep in mind it is just 1 book, and 1 persons view. If we long for more, then we should run with it and make our own book. I like the book, and the subject matter. We are free to improve or expand on what he has started♡ yay Gingers

Then he should name the project accordingly, no? The title implies differsity of redheads. Instead all we get are pictures of thin, young, white women. There is a fetization of red haired women; it's not an art project.
A fetish? How? Because it's his preference? A fetish suggests sexual perversion. What are you trying to say? I tend to find certain men attractive and not others...Does that make me a fetishist?
People raving about lack of diversity but only 37 of 130+ photos are featured here. Who's to say all images are of "thin, white, young women"? I doubt the photographer would seek out only those who fit this description. And maybe if he does only find females of this particular image beautiful, who are we to judge?
Because all we've been shown are these 37. We have no idea if the other ones are the same or different.
All the photos HERE are of thin, white women; who look virtually interchangeable.
Beautiful photographs of gorgeous women! It would be cool to see some photographs of men, too :)
Stirling, England? The guy should burn for the heresy
He missed Bulgaria. I'm a redhead. :D
And you're pretty, also. :)
He missed me in Az lol
I am slightly jealous (not in a bad way, though!) or their hair color. For as long as I can remember, I wanted natural red hair. I also have a weakness for red-haired men. It's just such a beautiful hair color.
that's a very nice comment. I am a natural redhead, and so is my adorable husband
I'm a redhead from Scotland. Stirling...is not in England it is in Scotland. And where are all the men? Other than those two point the pictures are beautiful =)
Apparently redheads who aren't female, thin, and white can't be beautiful. As a redhead, I was really excited before looking, then very disappointed. This should have been titled "Conventionally attractive women who happen to have red hair."
Completely agree. The people defending it are men who are turned on by all these hot women.
I'am a natural red hair. I'm Puerto Rican my sister and 6 nieces and nephews are red hair. We have curly hair straight hair, with freckles and with out. We are not beutiful or thin, we are petite. We are Puerto Rican. .not Europeans.
The title should read "Photographer Travels Around The World To Capture The Incredible Beauty Of Red Hair HOT WOMEN"
*photographer goes to a handful of places to photograph hot red-haired female models.
Well besides the person who wrote this does not know how to count there aren't even 50 pictures ket alone 130. Why are people being so negative I understand you may want some diversity but he can take pictures of what he wants. If you don't like it take your own or don't look.
I admire them each and every one. Natural redheads are special, only 2% of the population.
Very beautiful photos Lemogan
These beautiful photos are meant to be and serve well as a promotion of the Photographers art book. It is also a benefit to many people who have red hair and to people who just feel different.
Not only white women have Redhair ya know
But they all have a white momma down the ancestry line.
VERY VERY BEAUTIFUL!
Some really nice photos.... I was expecting a universal narrative (with the headshot profiles) but it turned into the photographers portfolio...... nice, none the less.
Have you seen that any of them have any wrinkle? There can be beautiful gingers but Photoshop can do miracles too
I cannot pick one....they are all beautiful
Me from Scranton Pennsylvania
I love USA
love the photos but would love to see more diversity (there are some beautiful redheads that are older too).
More articles about intelligent, creative and inspiring people please! This obsession with looks is really getting annoying! God damn
Beautiful women all of them.
You have skipped me! ☺
Sure! He's on a "photography trip" to Asia and Africa to photography red-heads! Try telling that to your wife or gf.
They are all beautiful, i myself am a red head.
Such beautiful ladies.
Why can't you people just enjoy the article? Do you really have to spoil it for everyone with your negative and demeaning com
