Photographer Travels Around The World To Capture The Incredible Beauty Of Red Hair, Photographs More Than 37 Redheads
3.7Mviews
While redheads have become synonymous with Ireland and Scotland, American photographer Brian Dowling who now lives in Berlin(Germany), photographed over 130 redheads from 20 different countries for his project “Redhead Beauty”.
Red hair is the rarest hair color in the world and is caused by a gene mutation know as MC1R which affects about 1% of the world population. This gene mutation can also affect a person’s tolerance to pain, sunlight, and their hairs’ ability to gray. Red hair will instead turn blonde or pure white when you age.
Brian started this portrait project which spanned three summers to show the real beauty of red hair and wanted to help break down stereotypes people often have of redheads with his photographs. His art book “Redhead Beauty” is available on Kickstarter.

Do all red heads have long hair??And are they all young ? None that are short hair or older or not so skinny??

I was looking forward to seeing these, now that I have I'm disappointed. They are all thin young woman. I'm a middle aged redhead with 6 red headed sons. I wish the pictures represented a broader range of readheads.
Sadly, Mr. Dowling thinks only females can have red hair and be beautiful.
I was thinking the same thing! I have an adorably stunning red haired son.
Why tf would you get bothered by his taste?
It just could be because he is a normal heterosexual male and finds women far more pleasing and alluring. Just a guess of course.

Hello Darkness, I think you complain too much. I donated to the photographer's Kickstarter project ONLY because the book features exclusively beautiful women. Perhaps you are upset that Hooters restaurants only have female waiting staff.
i love all these pictures they capture the beauty of the girls, their hair and the countries they are from. And no offense but maybe you shouldn't hop to judgement. maybe it's a series. redheaded women then redheaded men, redheaded children and then everyone together maybe it has a deeper message
Great point, 'females are beautiful with red hair' but 'men with ginger hair have no souls' seems like. Really winds me up...
most men don't regard other men as beautiful, given the photographer is male, the outcome is somewhat predictable.
Was thinking the same!!
Sadly, these comments are why we can't have nice things. His photo series, his rules. Why can SJWs only destroy and not create?
This is the opposite of sjw. This is men not being able to stand when they aren't included in something and being totally surprised that the world they live in which puts women's value on their looks, is putting value in women's looks. Over men's. What a shock who tf would have seen that coming.
I agree not very diverse collection. I would have been happy to be a part of this project 😁
And I'm all real natural auburn red
Of course! He isn’t gay. Plus most red haired men are weird looking.
It is his camera and his personal taste. Don't like it? Make your own art.
Marie Stanford - he would be right.
@mireia Dos maybe stop thinking and do some research.
Did you just assume these peoples' gender???? #triggered
Women are mainly used as models because humans view females as beautiful because of a psychological effect from how humans evolved.
I'm sorry, but which one of these girls are not white?
Maybe Mr, Dowling has other purpose and the one that is wrong here is the article writer.
We can only go by what the article writer has written.
I don't think redheads come in any color other than white. If any of you have ever seen a natural Asian redhead I will be very surprised.
Be surprised, Me. Google 'Mongolian Redheads.' 27f29dffab...25f16f.jpg
Oh wow, i didn't know that was possible. I guess you learn something new every day.
There are African redheads and Asian redheads as well. https://howtobearedhead.com/9-natural-redheads-from-different-backgrounds-and-ethnicities/
The world is a big wonderfully diverse place. Redheads come in variety of people. I'm disappointed he didn't include the range of beautiful redheads different genders, sizes and ethnicity. His project while pretty is predictable. Think outside the box next time.

Mongolians have extensive Caucasian ancestry. So do all the people in the second link, or redheads you can find in Northern Africa for example. Gene passing works both ways, but there's little argument over the fact red hair is originally a Caucasian feature. To call them "African" and "Asian" in the context of this conversation is a little deceiving, and for most of the ones in the second link actually denying half of their identities.
It's rare but they're out there. I went to school with a girl who was of African descent. Both parents are black...her skin was dark brown and had a gorgeous burnt orange hue to it. She had freckles, red hair, brow and lashes. She was gorgeous.
So the photographer trolled through modelling agency photographs for redheads so he could create an "arty" Page Three feature? Lame. Very, very lame.
Why would you expect anything at all? Are you addicted to misery? It's a private project.
Its actually not lame in any way. Redheads are becoming to get more common these days which is nice to see because their hair colour is so different to everyone else's. I actually have the same hair colour as these beautiful women and I try to embrace it as much as I can even though I get bullied because of my hair colour but I couldn't care less. So it's lot lame at all it's embracing all men and women that are red heads.
Aunt Messy, the photographer is not obligated to act like a social justice warrior. And let me repeat that most of these gorgeous young ladies are not models. Some of them are on Instagram, and you can confirm that they are not models. We live in a free society. If I were the photographer, I would have only chosen beautiful young women for a book, just like he did. In fact, that's the only reason why I donated $10 to his Kickstarter campaign.
Aunt Messy, no. The photographer visited different countries and he took the pictures himself. Almost none of these beautiful young women are professional models.
Did you read the captions? Or do you believe that there are no fat, thin, infant, male, or preadolescent redheads? These are models.
I think the inclusion of some average-looking redheaded people would have been more significant
