I realized that nowadays, no matter where you look, you will find a crazy conspiracy theory, be it in the so-called "news," on social media, or just talking with that crazy uncle everyone seems to have. So I decided to go deeper into this matter, and after weeks of research, I was finally able to make this list, a list of crazy conspiracy theories that were actually true!

Trust me, the world will be a different place after you read this.

The US Government Spread STDs On Purpose

The US Government Spread STDs On Purpose

Another one that is unfortunately true is that the American government (it is almost always the American), between 1932 and 1972, purposely infected 400 African American men with syphilis. These men were unaware of that and they never gave their consent. One important distinction should be made that they did not infect the African Americans directly, the US just lied about treating them and allowed them to spread the disease even further. The ones they did infect, however, were Guatemalans.
The study aimed to verify whether sexually transmitted diseases affected black men as they affected white men. When the ominous experiment came to an end, only 74 of the original participants were alive.

No, this is the Tuskegee Study. They did NOT infect them. They withheld treatment that was available at the time to observe the prolonged effects. It's bad, don't make it even worse. And don't debunk a conspiracy by supporting another one. https://www.cdc.gov/tuskegee/timeline.htm

You're right they didn't infect them, but they also let them believe they were receiving treatment and were cured

The Tuskegee Syphilis study happened and was monstrous, but this post is factually incorrect. The government did not infect the men with syphilis, it recruited men who already had syphilis. It was monstrous because the government did not inform them of the nature of the study or give them treatments, even once treatments were available. They wanted to watch the effects of untreated syphilis. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuskegee_Syphilis_Study

It's badly written because they did say they weren't infected directly, after what I guess was them explaining what the conspiracy was, then goes on about Guatemalans being directly infected.

I thought the facts were the men already had the disease. The doctors and nurses (yes, some black) however DID NOT treat the infection and instead studied the prolonged lives of these poor dudes. It was not just whites, so get the explanation straight.

This is only half right. There was a U.S. sponsored study in Guatemala where people were purposely infected with syphilis between 1946-1948 to see if penicillin could prevent the disease. The related Tuskegee experiment withheld treatment from already infected black men and lied to them about it, basically to see what would happen when the disease ran its course.

The Tuskegee experiment if you want to look it up. There's also the Tuskegee Airmen, all black pilots from the same region who fought in WWIi. They deserve all the recognition in the world.

Breakfast Is Not The Most Important Meal Of The Day

You probably grew up hearing this, that breakfast is "the most important meal of the day," but many theorists thought it was a lie, a reverse conspiracy for big companies to sell more breakfast, and turns out... they were right!

Well, it turns out that "breakfast is the most important meal of the day" was actually a commercial slogan created by Kellogg's to help sell their new breakfast cereal. The phrase didn't have an ounce of truth—it was just advertising.

I don't agree completely here. A good breakfast with protein and complex carbs can help you power through a tough morning, nutrition-wise. It can set the mood for your day. If you're hangry in the morning, you're day is not likely to improve much.

It doesn't look like much research here... Where is factual data? For me, breakfast is definitely the most important meal... Your body is literally breaking the fast after sleeping for 8-10 hours (okay if you lucky enough to get that much), or even more if you didn't have late dinner. Plus I'm one of these weirdos who eat cereal for dinner sometimes :D But of course, not everyone is eating breakfast, the same way not everyone eats dinner no later than 6 pm, or sleep 8 hours and etc.

I think food-wise you find endless myths, claims, urban legends, and deliberate false-information. And just think of the omnivore - vegetarian - vegan debate. Probably the only truth is that nutrition is such a complex topic that a "one-size-fits-all" solution, i.e. shop for "X, Y, and Z and not for A, B, and C and you will stay healthy" simply does not exist.

The American Government Stole Children's Corpses To Do Nuclear Tests

I mean, c'mon! Imagine you are walking on the street and out of nowhere, a stranger comes to tell you about how the USA was using children's corpses to do nuclear tests. You would probably laugh in his face and think the guy was crazy, wouldn't you? But, sadly, this is yet another conspiracy that has proved to be true. The government was actually stealing body parts because they needed young human tissue for their tests. They recruited a worldwide network of agents to find recently deceased babies and children and then collect samples and even limbs from them, all without the permission of more than 1,500 grieving families. A mother was not allowed to dress her daughter for her funeral because the doctors had already amputated her legs and did not want her to find out.

Honestly, people value corpses far too highly. Science can learn a lot from corpses in numerous situations. You can donate your body to medical science to help them learn about the pathology of whatever killed you. Body farms always need corpses to study to help investigators determine times and causes of death in murders. I mean, it's not like you're still living in it. (That having been said, they certainly should have asked for permission, especially in the case of children.)

So I was able to find two news articles detailing this practice including the specific story regarding the girl whose mother could not dress her. It was called Project Sunshine and was named in both the UK paper Independent and ABC News. What is a little fuzzy in this post is that it seems while Americans were doing the testing, bodies and predominantly femurs were being shipped from Australia and Europe. It also seems to me one point to the test was to determine if these child had been exposed to radiation and if so the effects it.

Hello Zoomom, yes you are correct, the people ordering the theft were members of the United States Atomic Energy Commission and USAF Project Rand, but most of the bodies were stolen from other countries. According to then-AEC commissioner Dr. Willard Libby: "I don't know how to get them, but I do say that it is a matter of prime importance to get them, and particularly in the young age group. So, human samples are often of prime importance, and if anybody knows how to do a good job of body snatching, they will really be serving their country."

Sadly, science goes forward this way. If we know what veins, nerves and everything looks like, if you can get good medical treatment now, it is because at one point, corpses were stolen, or sold, from hospitals, digged up in graveyards, or even prisoners were used, for centuries. All of this with no one's consent. I'm certainly not saying it's right, but in times when the procurement of corpses was illegal or extremely difficult, this is what was done.

The CIA Drugged, Tortured, And Experimented On The Innocent Without Them Knowing

The CIA Drugged, Tortured, And Experimented On The Innocent Without Them Knowing

Unfortunately for these poor people, this was also true. Since the CIA (Central Intelligence Agency) was founded in 1947, several theories about what they actually do started to appear, one of which being that they would have drugged and tortured innocent people in illegal experiments, and as we said, unfortunately, that was true. The experiment was called MKULTRA. Its objective was to learn to manipulate people mentally. The CIA then used several methods, including the secret administration of high doses of psychoactive drugs (mainly lysergic acid) and other chemicals, electroshocks, hypnosis, sensory deprivation, isolation, verbal and sexual abuse, and several other forms of torture. It took a few years for the theory to go from conspiracy to facts. The operation started in 1953 but was only revealed to the public in 1975, which led the CIA to destroy the documents in order to deny the story. To this day they continue with their experiments, although the American government has always denied them.

My question is how can you make a country great, when built on lies, on land stolen from the native American Indians, that killed during the 50ths killing communists(done by the fbi's director John Egar Hoover) hoover being gay also had the gays put into prison and torture. He was one hell of devil. He lived with his mom and secretary man lover, yet he went to war against the gay community. What about Vietnamese war, Cambodia invaded by USA soldiers, Iraq? Read: Poisoner in Chief :Sydney Gottlieb and the CIA Search for Mind Control. Interesting note as well, under MK ULtra Whitey Bulger was dosed with LSD everyday for months while incarcerated and described it as pure hell (they would play tapes for hours with messages like "you're worthless and your mother never loved you" while inmates where peaking on acid). Also Timothy Leary, Robert Hunter, Alan Ginsberg were all participants in the experimentation which eventually lead to LCD being introduced to the larger society in general. Cary Grant was a big fan having tripped scores of times in the 50s, he even openly talked about it in a Life magazine profile.

The Canadian Government Has Built A Gay Radar To Hunt Homosexuals

The Canadian Government Has Built A Gay Radar To Hunt Homosexuals

Seriously, who in their right mind would imagine that something so ridiculous was true, especially from Canada? But it was.

In the 1950s, the Canadian government created the so-called "fruit machine" to identify who was gay in order to fire them.

But how did this "gaydar" work? They basically showed images of gay pornography and monitored people's reactions, such as pupil dilation, and if it showed a "gay reaction," it was recorded.

Cigarette Companies Knew About Cancer Risks Before Doctors Did

Cigarette Companies Knew About Cancer Risks Before Doctors Did

Today it seems stupid to not know that cigarettes are bad for your health, but back in the 1930s until 1950, all people saw were advertisements saying how good cigarettes were for you, advertisements that came with phrases from legitimate doctors saying "do not worry."

For decades, anyone who dared to say that cigarettes were not good, but a poison, were labeled crazy, idiots, or even enemies of the state, since the government made a lot of money with taxes on this product. And when the truth finally came out, what did the companies say? Simple, that they also did not know that cigarettes were harmful to our health. But as you may have guessed, this was a lie. Research relating to cancer and cigarettes was already being marketed in the 1950s and the companies themselves spent a lot of money trying to cover up these medical findings, sometimes even bribing doctors to officially say they were false.

The corporate response to research that proved that tobacco is harmful is very similar to the corporate response to studies that proved that lead is toxic. We see the exact same corporate response to the studies thta have demosntrated the effects of use of fossil fuels on climate. In fact the rhetoric of the big fossil fuel companies is almost identical to that of the fuel companies who added lead to fuel, and to the rhetoric of tobacco companies about the health effects of smoking. In all of these cases, the GOP had voted against restrictions that would protect people from cancer, lead poisoning, and now climate change.

Why the hell would the FBI waste its time spying on the ex-Beatle? Simple, he was considered a "threat to the American government" as his songs about peace and love did not please the US government, which was in the middle of a war.

Most peace activists were under surveillance during the time that Hoover was in charge of the FBI. In fact, the FBI focused on little else but trying to uncover evidence for whatever Communist or Socialist related conspiracy theories about which Hoover was obsessed at any given moment. MLK was under surveillance, as were all the Civil Rights leaders, anybody who was active enough in the Civil Rights of the antiwar movements was put under surveillance, leader and activists of the anti-nuke movement were under surveillance, etc. Hoover was also a howling racist and antisemite, which was one of the reasons he always tried to tie Civil Rights to his obsession. He used the FBI almost exclusively as a tool of oppressions for all the years he ran it.

The Government Poisoned And [disposed Of] 10,000 People Using Poison In Alcoholic Beverages

The Government Poisoned And [disposed Of] 10,000 People Using Poison In Alcoholic Beverages

After some research, I can tell you that this theory is a half-truth.

When the manufacture and sale of alcohol were illegal between 1920 and 1933, regulatory agencies actually encouraged measures that made industrial alcohol deadly for consumption, including adding lethal chemicals to the mix. But the government never really planned for people to actually drink this alcohol. It was the fault of people who would rather poison themselves than dropping alcohol altogether, even with several people dying around them.

And if you think that's too stupid to be true, replace drinking alcohol with wearing a mask and see how dumb it actually is.

"industrial alcohol" is not intended to be drank, nobody was poisoning "drinks". industrial alcohol is like denatured alcohol you buy at a hardware store to strip paint or rubbing alcohol est. It's got additive that make it poisonous b/c while you can drink it without the additive it can eventually lead to blindness or worse. By making it straight up poisonous they stopped a lot of desperate people slowly killing themselves. Now they are responsible for driving people to desperate via probation but you were not trying to poison people.

That's a common misconception that people will stop doing something just because it's dangerous. Especially regarding addiction. I mean it's like drugs prescribed to not drink (like antabuse) - they only work if you are motivated to stop anyway and use it as a "safety belt". If you are not ready to quit you will probably continue to drink but with dangerous side effects and risk of death.

Invalid comparison. Drinking this particular alcohol will make you sick, whereas not wearing a mask does not mean you will catch the disease. Hitler's Skull Was Fake, Or Someone Else's Skull

Hitler's Skull Was Fake, Or Someone Else's Skull

Several conspiracy theorists think Hitler survived World War II, so when his skull was presented by the Russians as evidence of his death, many said it was a fake, or someone else's, and these rumors persisted until 2009 when it was finally proved that... it really was fake!

DNA examinations proved that the skull actually belonged to a woman who was between 20 and 40 years old. To this day, nobody knows who this woman was, but as you may have already imagined, there is no shortage of theories about her identity.

Russian FSB intelligence service, the successor of the KGB, however, has said that the DNA test is false and the skull is definitely Hitler's.

The main reason I believe Hitler died that day is that you wouldn't have a man like that just disappear and live quietly in Argentina or something. Too many people knew what he looked and sounded like across the world and he wouldn't have been able to just shut up and not try and rise up again with an army and followers. Thankfully he died in that bunker.

Thousands Of Copies Of E.T. For Atari Were Buried In The Desert

Atari's "ET - The Extra-terrestrial" cartridge was a total failure; even today, it is considered one of the worst games ever made. The bad reviews obviously caused many to give up on buying the game cartridges, which the company then buried in a New Mexico landfill.

The games were unearthed in 2014 in a collaboration between the New Mexico government and several companies, such as Microsoft, for example. A number of them were auctioned off to raise funds for a museum.

Chemicals In The Water Are Making Gay Frogs

Chemicals In The Water Are Making Gay Frogs

This is another one of those things that just hearing makes you think it is a bizarre conspiracy, but it has a little bit of truth in it... but, thank God, only a little.

Radio presenter and conspiracy theorist Alex Jones said in his program that "chemicals in water are making frogs gay," something that was later repeated by his thousands of followers. Although chemicals do not change a frog's sexual orientation, a study has shown that exposure to a particular pesticide can change the sex of frogs. Estrogen in suburban lakes can have the same effect.

So while chemicals do not change a frog's sexual orientation, it does, sadly, change its sex, apparently, which can cause biological problems in the near future.

The Mafia Actually Works For The American Government

The Mafia Actually Works For The American Government

Since the Mafia ("cosa nostra") was created, people say that these mobsters actually work for the government of their country. This theory actually has a simple origin: the mafia used to put its members in positions of power within the government, but that doesn't mean that criminals worked for the government, does it? Well, at least until the day they actually did.

This myth is true: the mafia has actually worked for the American government on several occasions, one of the most famous being during World War II. The United States entered the Great War somewhat by surprise, so its defense system was not yet complete. Knowing that enemy soldiers had begun to infiltrate the United States through the city's ports, they knew they needed some kind of defense on them. And who was the "owner" of those ports but the mafia? The government then asked the criminals for help with the agreement that the mafia would protect the ports, ensure that all workers ended the strike that was going on, and would provide information to the Americans, who in turn would lower the sentence for mobster Lucky Luciano.

After the war, Lucky wanted his promised freedom, but the government lied and denied that they had help from the mafia to win the war, which only further increased the conspiracy theories surrounding this incident, but official documents showed the truth: Luciano was released and deported to Italy.

Other times that the Mafia worked for the government include assassination attempts on Fidel Castro and Operation Husky, which was the name given to the invasion of Sicily.

Me, 3 years later: There was also the time a rabbi and a judge went to ask a gangster to please do something about the American nazis parading around new york that they LEGALLY couldn't do anything about. Mr. Lansky (a frequent associate of Luciano's) was happy to oblige (indeed, around the country, other gangsters, like Mickey C., Davie B., and Abner Z. were happy to, without being asked. Bugsy S. even nearly killed some Nazi officials while in Italy!) They did have personal reasons; they were Mickey _Cohen_ (he was in jail, there were two Nazis with him, and he started banging them together and by the time guards got back he was quietly reading a newspaper), Davie _Berman_ (who Robert Rockaway notes wound up with his suit COVERED IN BLOOD), Abner _Zwillman_ (a guy who cheerfully beat people up but also gained a reputation for doing the same to antisemites and, as a kohen, refused to be in a room with a dead body), Bugsy _Siegel_ (sadly, he didn't kill the Nazis) and Meyer Lansky, born in Czarist Russia, a notoriously antisemitic region. (I did a report on them once. Did you know that Joseph Stacher, after immigrating to Israel, once got swindled out of $100,000 - by a rabbi, no less?) edit: more facts!

According to declassified intelligence documents, the Dalai Lama, whose real name is Tenzin Gyatso, was paid $180,000 in connection with the CIA's financing of the Tibetan Resistance, in the amount of US $1.7 million per year. The idea was to interrupt and hinder China's infrastructure, something that never really happened effectively.

Agent in the intelligence community is exactly as said above. CIA operatives are "officers", not agents, agents are external assets

He was an asset, they have them all over he was never an agent they just paid him for info. That is like calling the drunk who said all that dumb s**t about Iraq was true an agent. He was just a defectetor from Iraq who would said anything to not go back and be murdered by that dictator and actually did. Even CIA and other groups all said Bush should never quoted him and he was not a relaiable asset.

And American cardinal Francis Spellman bugged the 1958 closed conclave (which was electing the next pope) for the CIA. They didn't ask him to - it was his idea.

The Illuminati Is Affiliated With The American National Security Agency

Although the Illuminati do exist, they have no control over anything, but this theory really does have an origin. Type Illuminati backward, that is, "Itanimulli," and you will be redirected to the website for the American National Security Agency. Really weird.

You can buy websites and redirect them to other websites, that's not weird, it's a prank.

Absolutely correct. In this case the guy who did it is well known and admits to doing it on a whim.

The illuminati were originally a group of scientists who were persecuted, tortured and murdered by the Catholic Church because science went against they're beliefs. Just like how Galileo went to prison for discovering Jupiter's moons and confirming the theory that the Earth orbited the sun, and not the other way around.

Hi Aisha, "illuminati" is a name given to several societies over the years, the first ones were created in 1776 and have been around since in different forms, including urban legends.

If I had to hide something or make it hard to find, I'd do more than just reverse the name of my organization

Funny that these are all based on things in the U.S. But just as many f****d up things happened in other countries, just the U.S. Has more freedom of information.

What about the American government being directly involved in the ( !! twin towers destruction? (Is it a coincidence that 911 is the emergency call number used in America) All jokes aside: how could a bunch of Arabs simultaneously hijack 5 aeroplanes and fly them into the middle of New York and destroy the world trade centre without anybody in the U S government knowing about it?
