Helen Thompson, also known as Holy Smoke, is a UK-based artist who creates stunning dog sculptures out of unexpected materials. These unique canines are completely handcrafted and made using wire, natural linen, and vintage textiles by layering them all to make threadbare textures with hanging threads.

The imperfections of the materials and their raw edges make the sculptures look animated, and also, as the author says on her website, they “illustrate the human hand through an emotive process in an attempt to represent the unique spirit, fragility, and character of the animals in their diverse forms and circumstances.” The sculptures are quite different in size, starting at 20cm (sitting position), and the highest being 60cm in height (standing). Scroll down to see these fragile textile sculptures for yourself.
