A video game or book character isn't immortal, or immune, or unchallenged. Death comes to all. Any fiction giving you unrest?

GARL! I was watching dad... he was playing Sea of Stars... he was far ahead of me. Ik spoilers, but he yelled out, "DARN IT GARL, WHY'D YOU HAVE TO DO THAT?!" So loud, and I couldn't stop myself. For background, Fleshmancer=Antagonist. Garl is an old friend of Zale and Valere (protagonists) who lost an eye tanking a spike for Zale. In total, his scars, until then, were losing an eye, getting called (summoned by a huge monster) and stabbed with poison dagger to avoid going into the monsters lair. The fleshmancer hit him with dark magic. Garl was dying......... but we flew (just temporarily) to elder mist (a big ghost guy, good person) who needed to give him a vision. He was told how to save the world from the dwellers...(big scary monsters)... but he was seconds from death. He requested a Flask of Borrowed Time, meant to keep a dying soul away from the afterlife. He got up... but then staggered back down, suffering. The flask lasted until their final wish was fulfilled. In Garl's case, that was to save the world with Zale and Valere on one last adventure before he passed. If the wish was avoided to buy time...he would die instantly. So now, Garl is basically caught in suffering, trapped in between death and life. If he goes with them, he'll die, but it's the only way... I flopped onto my bed and cried. I'm still crying. PLEASE GOD DONT LET GARL DIE!!!!! and anyone who has beaten the game and knows don't u dare spoul it I need to just tell myself that he will live. Even if it's not true.
