Polish Artists Recreate Traditional Slavic Wreaths To Keep Old Traditions Alive
We’ve recently covered the amazing variety of traditional Ukrainian headdresses, a national tradition being preserved by the young Ukrainian women of today. But as photographer Ula Kóska and makeup artist Beata Bojda will show you, every Slavic country has its own unique version of this striking form of traditional accessory.
The Polish artists collaborated on this beautiful Slavic-themed photoshoot in order to highlight traditional Polish folk culture. Wreaths and flowers played an important part in both religious and secular ceremonies such as marriages, funerals, festivals and Easter, and the wreaths in the pictures were made according to traditional methods. This involves tightly twisting paper into flower shapes, a technique that comes from the Polish “Opoczno” area in the heart of the country, and as you can see, the effect is nothing short of stunning.

It is partly true. They dont't represent any country or region of Poland. Only the technic is polish, pictures are far from traditional polish wreaths and clothes.
well, this photo shoot wasn't made to portray folk costumes but to highlight beauty of the wreaths made in a traditional way. For me they're absolutely stunning <3

Art inspires, it stirs the soul, it encourages thought and considers perceptions and elevates the human condition...well done on the research, the selection of elements that are part and parcel of our tradition and embrace our culture...a beautiful journey
Don't forget about slovians, it's possible that artist wanted to show our forgotten culture
Beautiful and good to keep our ancestral heritage alive all humans have a beautiful story to tell
it's great though I never saw using flowers and make up to such extend in PL
It's completely mixed up- slavic, orient, gypsy, african... still it was a great idea to use flowers.
I agree. I think the wreath making is Polish inspired, but clearly inclusive of other cultures.
