Beautiful yes....but not good when everyone starts doing it, and there is no where for rain to run off, and it all goes into your basement or your neighbors basement!

We run drain lines from each planter area all the way out to the front drainage system prior to placing any concrete. We are very good at controlling where water will run. :)

Concrete is the material to thank for most of our architecture miracles. It can be used in amounts that are both impressive and a tiny bit frightening. For example, the world's record for the largest concrete pour in a single project belongs to the Three Gorges Dam in Hubei Province, China and it required 16 million cubic meters of concrete over 17 years of construction.

Concrete is sometimes also called Portland cement concrete for its visual resemblance to Portland stone and is made of coarse and fluid ingredients in order to harden not instantly but over time. This allows for it to be worked into the most precise designs.
This is one of the most frequently used building materials and was first used as long ago as 700 BC. Ancient Nabataeans used concrete-like materials for house construction, flooring and to make underground water containers. Some of these structures can be still found today.

There is also concrete work found in Greece which dates back to 1400-1200 BC. At that time, people discovered they could add volcanic ash to it to improve the mix and allow it to set underwater.
It was also extensively used by the Romans and it's one of the reasons why so many of their structures survived to this day.

Portland Cement is one ingredient found in modern concrete. The text states some resemblance to "portland stone" which has absolutely nothing to do with anything. Concrete consists of Portland Cement, and various sizes of aggregate in various proportions depending on the work.

I know! "Concrete is sometimes also called Portland cement concrete". No. Not it's not. Ever. Calling cement concrete is like calling peanut butter toast "bread". They're related but one takes more ingredients and needs preparation.

As someone who understands the industry, I'm telling you this is absolutely top notch work. Hats off to these folks. To all the people bitching it's an ad: f**k off. Art posts are also ads if the person sells their art, and yes I do find this concrete work "satisfying" the way you might with a painting so in case you skipped over it the first time: f**k off. Also, why do you care if it's an ad? This affects you how?

Certainly, but I think we have to give them some slack both for the craftsmanship and for the history lesson. I had no idea that concrete goes that far back. And though I tend to break out with purple spots when multinational behemoth companies sneak advertising in here, it doesn't bother me when small businesses or craftsmen/women do it.

Most of these only look good because they are freshly made. Concrete ages really badly and a year in it'll look like a screenshot from some dystopian film.

Concrete does age but the better finish you put on it the longer it will look nice. I literally just walked on that sidewalk just now and although it is alot brighter because its curved out. It still looks just as good. I'm the guy who did this work by the way. :)

I'm not advertising. I dont even own my own business. I work for a company. The company linked to isnt even the right company. This work is of my sidework. I posted these pictures on another site and the author seen them and asked me if they could use them. I am receiving nothing from letting them use the pics. A lot of people keep saying it's an advertisement.
