Artist Documents The Harsh Realities Of The People Of South Sudan (20 Pics)
All About Photo is pleased to present 'The Country that Drowned' by Jan Grarup
The climate crisis is no longer just the future It takes place now and here. It demands human life and it destroys the future of children. South Sudan is experiencing severe floods in its fourth year, which is a direct consequence of climate change. 800,000 people have lost their homes to the water masses, and every day that number is getting bigger. The roads are washed away along with crops, cattle, clean water and toilets. Emergency aid in the form of food and medicine cannot emerge and people are fighting across the dry land against poisonous snakes and crocodiles. The stagnant water has caused the mosquito population to explode - and with them also the cases of malaria. South Sudan is a country that is moving towards a death sentence if we do not act now. The people, and especially the children, are in dire need of a helping hand that comes with clean water, food, medicine, and toilets.
Sandrine Hermand-Grisel is the curator for this month's show.

I don't understand how some people's bodys can endure that much. I got very ill. Went 10 days without eating and two days without water and ended up in the ICU with multiple organ failure.
Load More Replies...This image is worth more than a trillion words....😖🥀. Beyond deception of how the "system" is.... Unbelievable!
Why are these pictures in black and white? Is it to make it seem that Africa is stuck in the past?
Some photographers simply prefer black and white, it can focus the mind on the subject rather than the colour.
Load More Replies...Where are the drills plows and backhoes to open a way for the water to drain? Where is the irrigation system?
EXACTLY!! We need to send help but the top 1% richest people are too busy huddled up in their piles of money to do anything to help those poor poor people! and then when the world blames them for it they send like $2 dollars. Yes before you get irritated with me please note this is mostly hyperbolical and also thank you for reading my rant.
Load More Replies...Thats actually a fair point. And chickens would be wonderful. Problem is we arent getting these people the rescources to grow, care for, process, and make those things edible. Rice needs milled before you can eat it. Also, unless your going to do something about their situation, or go out and understand it better, dont say what they should be doing about it. Again. Good point. But these things would just cause more problems before they solved any. Theres not really a right way to help them, either. Have an awesome day. But try not to make vaguely.. 'Gross' remarks.

Beautiful touching photos but so sad. Climate change is not a first world problem, while our politicians quibble about quotas and economics it's these people and billions other that will die, will suffer untold hardships, will fall victim to pointless wars for dwindling resources while we, in the western world, look the other way. Too many time I've heard, following Russia's b******t war in Ukraine, people saying that they can't believe that war is happening in our time. Guess what ? Wars have been constant for the last 70 years. Just because the western media ignores them doesn't mean they don't happen. And the same with climate change. We are fiddling while rome burns.
black and white only works for a couple of these. bad "artist" as bo is referring to them
