“Mr.Lucifer,” who also goes by the pseudonym "no0tahuman" on social media, is an artist who uses pictures of pets as a reference to create adorable illustrations with their colorful and cartoon-like style. Their work is very expressive; the artist manages to capture the facial features of wholesome animal images and make them look even more adorable.

Bored Panda reached out to “Mr.Lucifer” with some questions. First, we asked the artist about how they started making art.

“I've been drawing since childhood, and the idea of putting my characters on paper really inspired me. Especially Disney cartoons. I dream of working there someday and really want to become an animator, this is my dream, it appeared almost at the time when I started drawing.”

Given the artist's unusual name, we decided to ask them about it in detail, and here's what we were told by the artist themselves, ”I love my pseudonym and it speaks for itself: 'not a human'. With that being said I'm from a small town near the sea but I don't really want to disclose my exact location.”

A source of inspiration is a very subjective thing for each artist, as coming up with ideas for their works can require more than just thinking about them at times. We asked "Mr. Lucifer" to share what is their source of inspiration, “I am inspired by Disney cartoons and anime by Hayao Miyazaki. I strive to make my ideas as good as Disney's, and the landscapes as beautiful as Miyazaki's anime.”

As we mentioned previously, the artist uses animal photos as a reference to make his cute illustrations, therefore we were wondering where and how he finds the images he wants to redraw in his style.

“Sometimes I take photos of my friends' animals, and sometimes I just draw 'memes'. Lately, I often draw commissions and I can say that the animals I draw live in different parts of the world.”

Depending on the idea and its complexity of it, a work of art can take quite a while to finish, or, on the other hand, it can be quite quick if one is struck with the idea at the right moment. We asked "Mr. Lucifer" about how long it takes for them to create one illustration from his series.

“To be honest, sometimes 20 minutes is enough for me, but most of the time I want to make the result better and better, so I can spend a few hours. I have been learning to draw quickly for many years while maintaining quality.”

Lastly, we asked the artist whether or not art was something they pursued immediately in life professionally or if it was just a hobby at first.

“I graduated from art school, we painted a jug there... Sometimes we drew nature, and it was great!

Once I heard a phrase from a teacher, something like 'colors depend on each other', and it turned my world upside down! But I can say with confidence that my ability to draw digital art is my practice. I didn't take any courses or anything like that. Lots and lots of practice.”
