Guy Received $295 From His Former Boss By Accident, Discovers How Much Of An Asshole He Really Is
These days most transactions between people take place online, with things like mobilepay, bank transfers and PayPal making life easier for all of us. Its pretty hard to mess it up and send money to the wrong person this way, but, as this guy proved, it can happen. If it ever does happen to you, he has given us a perfect example of how NOT to deal with it.
The guy in question is John Woodwork, the former boss of Imgur user Shhwing, AKA Stephen. “I did woodwork for him, aging wood and turning the wood into shelves,” Stephen told Bored Panda. “The reason I left was because he never turned on the ventilation to save money, so there was always sawdust in the air that I was breathing in. He only provided a paper face mask and I started to have respiratory issues.”
Stephen was out with a friend when he received a text from John, informing him that $294 was accidentally deposited in his PayPal account. John was polite in the beginning, but as soon as there was a slight hitch his true colors shone through!
As Stephen so succinctly put it, “lack of planning on your part does not make an emergency on my part.” Scroll down to marvel at John’s meltdown, which some people have pointed out may well have been part of a scam to make Stephen pay twice. He doesn’t think so though. “I don’t think he was trying to scam me, he didn’t seem like that type of person,” he told us. “I haven’t spoken with him since, I blocked his phone number because there’s no reason I’ll ever need to speak to him again/be bothered by him again.”
Stephen now has a new job as a research coordinator, and has a much better work environment. “I have multiple new bosses here and they are all very cool,” he told Bored Panda. “They’re always teaching me new things daily and are willing to help when I’m struggling.”

Yes. thank you. I was reading it and thinking.....ok tbh you both seem like d***s to me.
Load More Replies...So I read it and now I am annoyed by something that has nothing to do with me, doesn't have any impact on my life and is not a great injustice to the person it happened to. Just... why?
You empathize with people dealing with annoying situations?
Load More Replies...I had Wells Fargo "accidentally " pay me overage on my final paycheck after they abruptly fired me after my BFF had died & I took a scheduled week off. I got up & went to work like normal for the last 8 years & was fired up in arrival. If they would have let me work my shift they wouldn't be out anything so I laughed as I ripped up their letters to give them the money back. Plus I won unemployment benefits which they tried to block too! Corporations are a******s ,too. In this case Wells Fargo are crooks & thugs I am so glad I got out back then.
Guy Received $295 From His Former Boss By Accident, Discovers How Much Of An Obsessive He Really Is by responding repeatedly to his former Boss instead of ignoring him and letting Paypal handle it.
Exactly my thoughts... I think the ex-employee was enjoying yanking his ex-boss's chain. Just acknowledge it happened and Paypal will fix it, then stop responding. There was no reason for this to escalate.
Load More Replies...Pennies. Lots of pennies. In multiple boxes filled with glitter.
Load More Replies...Good grief! Even on the internet money transfer from person to person is not instantaneous! I would love to see this guy completely melt down "back in the day" when transactions moved with mail!
My ex husband once sent me child support twice on the same day. At that point he was over $15,000 late in child support payments. When he asked me to send one of the payments back I just laughed at him. Best day ever.
Former boss is undoubtedly impatient, short tempered, childish, possessive and toooo mean ! I enjoyed d story. Such stories make us learn important lessons of life
Wow guy specifically states to wait to see what paypal does because there is an open case then if noting is resolved in x amount of time he'll send the money back. Like what about that is soooooooo difficult to understand???
Would NEVER have sent that back, would have withdrawn the money and closed the account immediately, maaaaaybe sent him a thank you card for compensating you for your respiratory damage
I started my textile business from the $45,000 hack funds I got from kloviaclinks. com. Today, I am now sharing my story. I am still grateful to them.....
My response would’ve been no it was sent to the right person remember you owed me this exact amount glad to see it’s finally paid you pos
But he will get those money for a karma reason, why will send them back ? My normal replay would be: natural selection < karma.
Maybe I am missing some context but to me both are acting weird. First request was ok but the answer was lacking information. Than it got out of hand. Since I don't know anything about their relationship at work (why former boss) I go with "let's call it even.
The ex employee's reaction is totally justified. He tried to be nice at first, and was completely correct in saying he would have to wait. The boss was wrong before he even texted. He shouldn't have opened a case before contacting him. Once you open a case, you let the case resolve. It's supposed to be used for when you can't resolve it otherwise, but he abused it. He basically made 2 mistakes, and then demanded the employee fix it, which could have actually resulted in the employee double paying and losing money. The boss was absolutely ridiculous and out of line.

It was almost as if the ex-employer wasn't even reading the replies. So wrapped up in his own indignation.
Wow what an a*s!! Honestly my scam senses were starting to tingle.... i do not think he was being honest about something. Glad you have a better job! Gonna use that emergency line 😸
Ugh I worked for someone who was like this. He'd constantly blame me for his fuckups & threaten me if I called him out on it. Stressed me out so bad I miscarried & he said that was a good thing because I probably only got pregnant to get out of work anyway & that stress can't cause miscarriages so he wasn't to blame. The ignorance and the malice (& the pain) makes me wish karma were real.
What did the boss do wrong? I mean your supposed to give the money back right?
This is a very old Paypal scam. "Accidentally" send someone money, make a case with Paypal and then ask the person to return the money through mail. The scammer gets the person's money AND Paypal refunds the scammer so they are getting paid back twice.
Load More Replies...In reality, the Stephen guy is the d**k... The boss should never have texted this. He should have called instead... Texting is dangerous.
Sometimes having a record of the conversations are better. I had an a*****e boss that taught me to always email and have a paper trail. She was a lying psycho and would blame everyone else for her mistakes. Most of my interactions now are text or email.
Load More Replies...Deduct transaction fees, shipping and handling, labor, and dealing with a*****e fees and refund him $4.
All this says about PayPal is that they did their job.
Load More Replies...He said his balance is $0. Therese nothing to return
