Harvard Business Review emphasizes that people tend to love horror because it is stimulating, educational, and allows them to experience new things from the safety of their own homes.
For example, if you watch a horror movie, you get a surge of negative and positive stimulation in the form of fear and anxiety, as well as excitement and joy. What’s more, horror can energize you.
Meanwhile, through horror content, you are engaging your curiosity about some of the darkest, most taboo aspects of the human experience.
Moreover, you are throwing yourself into various simulations of danger, which can improve your chances of survival in the future.

Human beings are hardwired to react to danger and stress in certain ways in order to keep themselves alive.
You have probably heard about our fight-or-flight reaction kicking in in the face of threats. What you might potentially not know is that this is not the full story.
Aside from a desire to fight or flee when you face acute stress, you might also freeze or fawn. Let’s get into it.

The three most basic stress responses, fight, flight, or freeze, were identified first, followed by fawn later. The basic idea behind these responses is that you try to decrease or avoid the present danger so that you return to a calm, relaxed state.
In a nutshell, the fight response is your body’s way of urging you to aggressively fight off any threats. Flight, on the other hand, is your body's signal that you can run away from danger.
Freezing is self-explanatory: your body seizes up, and you feel unable to move, neither to fight nor to run away.
Meanwhile, when you fawn, you essentially try to please someone to avoid the conflict in the first place, WebMD explains.

When you freeze or fawn, you are not taking decisive actions, unlike when you fight or flee.
The main signs of the freeze response include:
- Feeling stuck in place
- Sense of dread
- Pounding or decreasing heart rate
- Feeling stiff, heavy, cold, and numb

Meanwhile, the top signs that you are entering a fawn response to acute stress are:
- Trying to be overly helpful
- Over-agreement
- Focusing on making someone else happy
- Soothing the source of the threat
People who respond to danger by fawning are often covering up their distress and damage due to trauma, neglect, rejection, or violence in their past.

Individuals who tend to fawn are often overly dependent on other people’s opinions. What’s more, they are very bad at establishing healthy boundaries, and so they are very vulnerable to control, manipulation, and narcissists.
Broadly speaking, the most common stress responses include things like pale or flushed skin, an increase in your heart rate, dilated pupils, a temporarily dulled pain response, tenseness or trembling, and feeling on edge.
What’s more, after super stressful encounters, you might have distorted memories of the event.

Naturally, these responses work to keep us safe and secure. However, if you have very strong reactions to mundane situations or slightly spooky online content, you might end up burning out and harming your mental and physical health.
“Anxiety disorders can trigger your fight or flight response even during situations that don’t put you in danger. Unfortunately, there are detrimental effects of this chronic stress,” WebMD explains.

So, you need to learn to manage your stress and anxiety levels if things are getting out of hand. Therapy and medication aside, you can learn to overcome your stress responses through mental grounding.
For instance, you might:
- Focus on your environment
- Remind yourself that you are safe
- Distract yourself by doing mental calculations
- Recite positive affirmations, songs, or poems either aloud or in your mind
- Imagine overcoming your fears
- Think about relaxing in your happy place
Meanwhile, physical grounding techniques include focusing on breathing, holding an object tightly, physically connecting with the ground by putting weight on your heels, and tensing your body before releasing the tension.

A Rare Photo Of The Elephant's Foot In Chernobyl,
This photo was taken in 1990. This slide was given to a doctor, Bill Zoller at the university of washington department of chemistry.
The caption reads:
"This is a slide I obtained from the Russians. It shows what is called the 'elephant's foot.' The Russians obtained this picture by sending a man down there with a camera. He took one picture, and then came back up..." "I was told that he [passed] from the radiation he had received... This picture, cost a man his life."

The Quincy Quarries After Being Drained. Several People Drowned Here And Were Not Recovered
That's why swimming in a quarry can be so dangerous. A family friend of ours drowned in one during a scuba diving session. More info about this one. It's in Massachusetts: During the 1980s old telephone poles and trees were added to discourage cliff jumping. Unfortunately, these were quickly waterlogged and sank two feet underwater where they were not visible to the cliff jumpers above. The injury and fatality rate skyrocketed. Often, divers sent to look for missing cliff jumpers would unexpectedly find other bodies instead.

Dark Hallway Of Caged Hens In A Factory Farm, Where ~80% Of Eggs Come From
I don’t disagree but plan on paying a lot (a whole lot) more for food.
Load More Replies...Luckily this type of chicken keeping is forbidden in most parts of Europe.
You don't often see caged hen eggs in UK supermarkets. Most people buy free-range, as the price difference is minimal.
I think battery (caged) hens have been illegal for a while. But deep litter (barn)hens don't always have good conditions either.
Load More Replies...I love that nowadays (at least where I live), it's easy to see on the packaging of the eggs where they come from and how the chicken are kept, so it's rather easy to prevent accidentally buying eggs from a source like this.
80% battery. Na BP Europe has mostly banned them it only mainly used in the good ole' land of the fee. Why lie.
My dad owns a eggs farm and it's not like that, the chicken are all free
havent seen those eggs in ages, but ive v-been buying free range and up since forever anyway.
My delivered eggs are from a farm just up the road from me, they are all former caged hens that now have the run of fields and a small forest… proper egg hunt put totally worth it
These are really terrible. There is no reason to keep animals like this except for the greed of the producer in not wanting to build decent accommodations for the chickens! It's not remotely natural and so the egg quality is poor in terms of weak calcium in the shells and poor color and taste of the yolk.
We should be ashamed of ourselves as a species for doing this to other living beings.
These eggs are mainly going to mass production of cakes, cookies, tv-dinners and sold as fluid eggs to canteens/caterers. So even if you buy your eggs at the farmers who lets his hens being hens, the cookie you eat is less happy (unless you pay attention and read the info on the box). But the brothers of happy hens get still minced immediately after being born.
Not necessarily. I work in the catering side, our customers are food processors and producers. Thankfully (UK, and I see it from our European customers) people don’t want battery eggs in their food, they are far more aware.
Load More Replies...That's why I've been buying organic for years, but then you get stuff like the baby chick a few posts up and stop feeling good about that, too...
And this is why I will only purchase eggs from local farms.
They might be here as long as 2 years. It's so very sad. Most people, including me, don't want to know how their food is produced.

Termite Alate I Found Behind My House After It Rained All Night
Termite alates, commonly known as "flying termites" or "swarmers," are the reproductive members of a termite colony responsible for starting new colonies. Seeing them is a clear indicator that a mature termite colony (typically 3–5 years old) is nearby, and potentially nesting in or under your home.

Oddly Terrifying Images? Some odd. None terrifying, and certainly none oddly terrifying.
Idk the termite one and the Titanic one definitely seem terrifying to me, the eel fish too thing.
Load More Replies...Since I jave never understood racism but studied humanity and have a few degrees in can say Culture is NOT the same as Lineage. Culture is what people do in certain regions for survival and entertainment (wearing big hats for sun or rain, making things out of locally abundant materials, having unique languages or words, etc). Lineage is an uncontrolled genetic whirlwind of past people, and how far back you can go depends on the depth of genetic stories available to the lab that is doing it. If you get several done in different places, the percentages may be different as some have more info than others.
BP will censorm d**n! But will make posts about only fans, mirderers and these sort of things..
