Why would Pewdiepie call a far corner of the internet known by the title “Cursed Comments” "the very worst subreddit” out there, I wonder? Surely there should be many more reckless and vicious subreddits that refuse to abide by the rules of common sense.

Well, seemingly innocent at first glance, the subreddit Cursed Comments owns its name 100 percent. Why? Because, as the community’s description says, it serves a collection of “comments that strike the reader into oblivion, while leaving you speechless at the same time.”

Sometimes, it’s the blatant gruesomeness, other times it’s pure incomprehension, sometimes it’s sheer absurdity, other cases it’s all ensued hilarity. After all, it’s a reflection of all the communication happening out in the virtual wild west. Nothing is sacred, everything is kinda meme-like.

So we picked out some of the most ‘srsly?’ and ‘im outta here’ comments as shared by a whopping 2.5 million cursed members in the group. In the end, we are all more or less cursed, it’s just that the cursed ones already know it.

Psst! More cursed comments await in our previous post right here.

To find out more about the community behind the widely popular Cursed Comments subreddit, Bored Panda reached out to its moderator u/Blank-Cheque, who was happy to share some insights with us.

The moderator told us that the subreddit was originally created by redditor /u/winwinwe, “who is no longer a part of the sub.” Turns out, “he was ousted by the Reddit admins for his behavior as owner of the subreddit,” explained u/Blank-Cheque.

Cursed Comments was launched in 2018, which doesn’t make it a veteran among other subreddits. However, the subreddit’s success online is indisputable since it’s home to 2.5 million members.

When asked what exactly the term cursed comment means, the moderator said that the mod team has “put a lot of thought into answering this question over the years.”

He further explained, “As it says on our rules page, the official definition is 'A cursed comment is any comment that strikes the reader into oblivion. Upon seeing a cursed comment, your first reaction should be among the lines of "What the eff did I just read??” while leaving you speechless at the same time. Incomprehension of the comment just read, or the blatant gruesomeness of it should be enough to not only make you feel mystified but also to draw a smile on your face.'”
