Man Ditches Wife Mid-Contractions For Ex-Girlfriend’s “Emergency,” Returns To Empty Home
Most men typically give great importance to witnessing the birth of their first child. It’s a profoundly emotional experience in which fathers begin to form a bond with their son or daughter.
This man, however, seemed to care more about the emotional well-being of a female friend/former romantic partner than being with his wife, who was about to give birth to their first daughter. His actions not only caused him to miss the birth but also ruined his marriage.

It isn’t uncommon for couples to experience a rollercoaster of a relationship during the woman’s pregnancy. According to Cathy O’Neil, co-author of the book Babyproofing Your Marriage, expectant parents may either feel distant or close to each other.
“At times you’ll feel inexplicably close, while other moments you could feel as though your partner is living on another planet,” O’Neil told Parents.com.
In the story’s case, the couple seemed to have drifted apart, with the man choosing to be with another woman instead of his wife. It made the woman feel particularly vulnerable, which, according to O’Neil, is a common experience.
As she explained, women tend to feel “an overwhelming fear of abandonment” during these times. The woman admitted to feeling the palpable fear of going through the process alone, which prompted her to turn to her father after being unable to contact her husband.
The author also mentioned having experienced three miscarriages and a stillborn. According to a study reported on Reuters, couples see their relationships crumble and even break up after going through such traumatic losses.

Married couples need a good amount of space and independence for their relationship to thrive. However, the moment they fail to operate as a unit could mean that their marriage is on the verge of ending.
As marriage and family therapist Virginia Williamson tells Brides, they may be in the process of “readying for the end,” wherein building a shared future isn’t a top priority.
Williamson adds that a lack of trust is also a good reason to file for divorce, especially if it involves unmet needs. However, she mentioned a caveat: the partner must be willing to work on rebuilding trust.
In the story’s case, the woman already suspects the relationship between her husband and Anna. To add insult to injury, he chose to be with another woman instead of supporting his wife through labor and being with his firstborn daughter.
While the couple may still mend their relationship, the woman’s desire to file for divorce is also within reason.

Every single YTA acts like owning a d**k is a golden ticket, and no child should ever be deprived of knowing ~Dad~. NOPE - Some s***m donors are too toxic to be allowed to screw up a kid. And there are definitely women who fall under the same category as well.

What a fvucking rotten a-hole that man is!! I left a boyfriend I'd been with for 8 years when my car broke down 1/2 mile from our shared home. He didn't want to come and help because he was watching NFL playoffs but this story is SO much worse! I honestly think I would have gotten violent..

If it were me and my child, there'd be absolutely nothing that would get me away from my partner who's about to give birth, and in the tiny chance that I did have to go, my phone would be glued to my hand. It's irrelevant how badly someone is hurt and if they need me or not - call someone else. Husband is absolute scum. How can he even look at himself in the mirror? How can a parasite like Anna even stand to be with someone like that? If I had a friend who told me her husband did something like this, I'd be going to jail for murder. Also, the YTA's are unhinged. Truly.

Oh, Hubby and Anna truly deserve each other. Let them get back together, even get married, then proceed to tear each other apart for the rest of their lives. Hubby will be begging OP to reconcile, even though HE’S the one who burned that bridge when he chose Anna. It will be highly satisfying for OP to tell him to go f**k himself.

EXACTLY. I dated someone who had no one, but two close "friends" who were exes. The amount of toxicity, and unresolved issues was off the charts, and he made very clear that they were a priority over me. Good riddance

YTA fuggnuts obviously didn't read the updates, or are friends with Anna and The Cheat. Either way, I am crossing my fingers that those fuggnuts never get to be parents as they'll probably be helping or condoning cheats, likely the aforementioned Anna and The Cheat. I'm happy for OP as she's gaining newborn joy and dropping the deceiving excuse of a would-have-been dad who can't even get his priorities right. Anna and The Cheat deserve one another, and hopefully OP gets full custody of her new pride and joy while those two can prioritize their miserable selves. Kudos to Anna's brother though for at least clearing the air. Let's see Anna and The Cheat explain themselves out of this one, though I'd be prioritizing on how they are going to fumble. SMH!!!

The YTAs are crazy. My first husband put me in the hospital and kidnapped our kid and believe you me, that child did NOT grow up with that b*****d in his life. There is no "right" to a child if you a b u s e the mother. Doesn't make a diff if it's emotional abuse or physical abuse, it terminates them.

A *coworker* of mine had three late-term miscarriages, and I added her to my phone’s VIP list (to ring through even if it was set to Do Not Disturb) when she was pregnant the fourth time (which thankfully was a successful birth). A husband in that situation should do everything to stay connected.

I mean, OP mentions on an update it's confirmed from Anna's brother the husband and her were having an affair for the past couple of months - and the YTA's were so quick to defend the guy's actions. The fact she had multiple traumas surrounding birth and he still chose to be with the friend even after learning she's giving birth.

Knowing that this was a high risk preganancy he should not have left .. if he really wanted to help Anna he could have called her an uber . The hospital wan an hour away so he should have been gone 2 hours Tops . And for being that late in a preganancy even if it was not high risk hubbys phone should be accessible to take the call at any hour . I say Shame on him he screwed up
