There is something mesmerizing about minimalism. In a world so full of everything, this kind of simplistic perspective can offer a refreshing counterpoint to the chaos around us, providing us with a nice cup of peace.
But you don’t have to redecorate your home or make any drastic changes to enjoy some of what minimalism has to offer. For example, this subreddit is full of simple yet magnificent pictures that capture the essence of this philosophy, and you can see the best picks right down below!

The subreddit, known as r/minimalism, is a perfect place for anyone who appreciates simplicity in all its forms. Here, you can mostly find people sharing things related to this kind of art and lifestyle, whether it’s something they made themselves, found online and wanted to enjoy together, or simply thought of and wanted to talk about.
With over 1.4 million members, this minimalism community ranks among the top 1 percent of Reddit’s largest groups. Fittingly, it doesn’t have many rules, only asking its members not to advertise or post memes and, instead, to keep things civilized while sharing minimalism-related content.
Stairs
I Like the stairs but wondering what I'd put in the space under them so I wouldn't bang my head on the stairs
How is this better? It's interesting design, but It's not practical or very aesthetically pleasing
Not to mention how many time people will hit their legs painfully on those sharp corners on the bottom step.
Load More Replies...The extra cover does not make it minimal, it is extra. However, it helps to hide things
That is SUPER cool!! And if you've had a wee bit too much to drink you could bounce off the walls.

Minimalism is a lifestyle, art, and design philosophy and a movement focusing on abstraction and simplicity. It was developed in the early 1960s in the USA, but facing a lot of resistance and criticism initially, it only started to really flourish in the 21st century.
But why did minimalism become as popular as it is now? Well, to answer this question, we looked into an article by The Minimalist Vegan, and they gave us a whole list of reasons explaining it.
Space-Saving Furnature
Yep. All about pure aesthetics. Uncomfortable to sit in for those few seconds before it collapses under the weight of a real human.
Load More Replies...I dunno about this. Seems great when the shelves are empty. In practice I imagine half the stuff on the shelves falling over every time I take down or put back a chair (from shaking or bumping)
Make it all the same color (with color options available), and I'd want it. I'd probably choose black or black-brown/dark wood.
Better put some cushions in those openings, those chairs look uncomfortable.
"Jaws" Poster Made Out Of 202 Solid Lines, Bartosz Kosowski
The article tells us that the actual roots of this philosophy can be traced back to ancient Greece and Rome, as well as Asia. There were quite a few philosophers who believed that material possessions are not necessary for happiness and satisfaction and that it’s enough to live a simple, purposeful life.
Buddhism also talks about happiness being found in simplicity and encourages people to live in the moment rather than worry about the future or dwell on the past. According to it, material possessions don’t bring fulfillment or lasting happiness as they’re temporary, and the satisfaction they bring is limited.

An Abandoned Home Surrounded By Wheat Fields, Oregon
vaguely reminds me of "Christina's World." The 1948 painting by American painter Andrew Wyeth
Here's the painting for those who are curious.... andrew-wye...9d4db1.jpg
Me, too, though I think that landscape was more barren. The show's main setting is based on a real house and surrounding area with a terrible history.
Load More Replies...Seeing abandoned places kind of makes me sad because at one time, it contained joy, struggle, family and even celebrated holidays. I'm weird.
I don't think it's too weird to imagine the sorts of things that once happened in an abandoned space. Doesn't archeology largely deal with that... just farther back in time? I think it's part of human nature to imagine such things. Every man made structure has a history.
Load More Replies...The internet tells me this house is near The Dalles, Oregon. Also that it is now fenced off.
Not quite his preferred subject, though he might occasionally include a house. Most of his landscapes are wooded and/or mountainous, and many contain water features, like mountain streams.

This reminds me of the move Tideland...it's a disturbibg movie, but hard to tear your eyes away. The house looked like this
When I looked, the first thing that came up was Tidelands, which is a tv series about sirens. But then I found the movie. Yeah, the concept is pretty disturbing but interesting.
Load More Replies...Now, with the internet connecting the whole globe, minimalism has taken the world by storm. The World Wide Web is the main factor that influenced the popularity of this movement as many people who start living this way begin to advocate for the benefits this lifestyle brings and share that online.
The same goes for art, as the web makes it more visible and accessible. Professional and amateur artists, as well as those who find their works appealing, are able to share and see almost limitless content that is only a few clicks away.
Solitude
I don't like deep water (makes me anxious) but this looks tranquil.

Another heavy contributing factor is that we have we have a lot more stuff than we realize, which creates chaos and, in turn, stress. According to the article, on average, people own over 300,000 items per household, and with all that stuff, our brain is constantly trying to figure out a way to organize it all, and the results don’t last as life creates the mess over and over again.
Minimalism, on the other hand, focuses on "less is more" philosophy. It’s better to own fewer high-quality things that we really need and use than a lot of stuff that some of us don’t even remember owning, which breaks so much faster.

really good... though, in a couple hundred years it may not work anymore.
Minimalism also brings more financial freedom to its practitioners. Owning less stuff means spending less money maintaining it. In addition, focusing only on what’s important to you helps cut down most unnecessary expenses so your money ends up being spent in wiser ways.
There is even something known as the Financial Independence and Retire Early (FIRE) community. People there focus on living with only what’s necessary for the short term to invest all they save and retire to live off the returns.

Thought You Guys Might Like This Wall Art I Made. It's The Waveform Of "Let It Be" By The Beatles
That could sound very interesting played on a audio editing program. Looks like a waveform.
Few years ago Kate Bush did an album where the artwork was a Blackbirds song waveform, laid out like that. The title track had a tune and lyrics replicating a birds song.
The article also tells us that nowadays, people tend to go for experience-led lives, choosing to spend less on fading happiness that material things bring and picking memories that will stay with them until the end instead.
And lastly, there is minimalistic design. Whether interior, exterior, fashion, or even digital, this type of composition makes it easier for us to focus on what we’re looking for or what we find interesting. It is also aesthetically appealing as it doesn’t overcrowd our sensors and is timeless, so it’s unlikely to go out of style anytime soon.
Simpsons From LEGO
I think I'm gonna get into my teenagers box of Lego pieces and make this, and see if he can figure out what it is, lol.

To sum it up, minimalism can be beautiful, and these pieces of art we saw here are proof of that. While also beneficial, it can certainly be enjoyed without directly participating in this movement or living by this philosophy. However, everything that’s in excess, even, ironically, minimalism, can become too much.
Whether we like it or not, this simplicity is all around us. But it’s safe to assume that if you read this far into this article, it’s definitely somewhere up your alley.

Stuttgart Public Library
eh... if this were a medical library, maybe.... to me, a library needs to feel welcoming. This, not so much. Sterile, not fertile.
Sorry - hate it. Great for a museum, hospital or swimming pool, but for a library I want the vibe of old books and a wooden cabin and fireplace and a nice cup of tea...
I think I'm the only one who loves this, it's so beautiful, there is a library in Toronto that this reminds me of from my childhood, spent a lot of happy hours there.
Looks nice and clean, but its not a cozy/mystical/welcoming looking place to read is it

I disagree about the precision of the watch, since it shows the hour, minute, and second. Though even someone with a precise watch could still be the sort to show up whenever.

Years ago there used to be a UK store that had a 'No Frills' range, white packaging and a font that looked like army stencil in black...Always liked the look of them
Anyone remember the film "Repo Man"...... repo-man-6...293ccf.jpg
The only downside to the 'NO Frills ' packaging was how frequently I made my coffee with orange juice at 5am before going to work.
This reminds me of a packaging craze back in - i think it was the 70s. Generic brands generally cost less than name brands. So to give the impression it was a super good bargain - some of the grocery stores started carrying product lines in plain white boxes. Similar idea to the beer. A box of macaroni and cheese which be all white with simple black lettering that said what it was and whatever other minimal information that was required by law. the 'brand' (whatever it was called) eventually died out in favor of house branded stuff.

Hire someone to shower for you. You can afford it if you live here.

Tesla Model 3 Interior
I still think it would be safer for the driver to have at least a head-up display so they don’t keep having to look across to the display for everything.
That's what I thought and was kinda nervous driving my son's brand new car but it wasn't a problem. The car will slow down, stop if something is in the way. Alot safer that I originally thought
Load More Replies...Nope! Too much reliance on the digital realm and not manual for the safety of driving…
The problem is that people are treating the car as being more autonomous than it is supposed to be. Fully autonomous, and/or mostly autonomous vehicles are a great idea, but we haven't reached that on a large scale yet, but some people act as if the Tesla is there, when it isn't to that point yet, and it causes problems. One of the bigger problems preventing the use of higher levels of automation in cars is actually legal, not functionality or safety, especially since fully sittings vehicles have, so far, have been statistically safer than a human driver. The legal issue is, on the instance an accident occurs, where the autonomous vehicles is at fault, who gets blamed? The programmer or manufacturer, or the operator/owner of the vehicle.

Load More Replies...It's pretty, but not so safe. We need to rethink the wheel/driver interface, so that the computer touch screen can go right in front of the driver.
Or better yet, replace the touch screen with knobs/dials, so you can make adjustments without looking at it. My Prius may be old & dorky, but at least I can adjust the radio, turn the A/C on or off, switch on the defoggers, etc. without having to take my eyes off the road.
Load More Replies...I think I like my cars knobs, dials and buttons. This looks so alien to me
It feels odd to see photos of nature mixed with design objects. These are different kinds of minimalism that would make two good posts separately
Idk. I kinda feel like one little computer glitch, and literally everything is gone. Radio, AC, everything. Not to mention whether or not the glitch will stop the whole engine from running. No thanks.
