It’s no secret that becoming a doctor is a long and arduous process, filled with sleepless nights, endless hours spent studying, and quite often, buckets and buckets of tears shed. But it’s important to remember that (aspiring) doctors are only human, so we need to cut them some slack. And show them some memes.
Today, we want to share some funny images, courtesy of the ‘Medical Doctors’ Instagram account, that might provide a much-needed giggle to medical professionals out there. While the name of the account suggests that the memes are dedicated to doctors, I’m sure others in the field will also appreciate them, so if you’re one of said ‘others,’ continue scrolling and enjoy the few calm minutes before you have to go back to work or studying.

Both should be free because they benefit public health. That should be the metric.
It IS the metric. That's why murica is against it. xD
Load More Replies...Both should be free if needed. Yes s*x is more of a choice but also a basic human need. Don't tell poor people to abstain, that is inhumane and also won't happen. But as a society you have an interest in not having stds spread or uncountable babies being born where they are not wanted.
Or women pressured into having unprotected s*x any more than is already the case.

Load More Replies...The problem with free is with our government they’ll just give us the cheapest sh!t possible.
Load More Replies...s*x is an option, menstruation not... but s*x may have longlife results.
They are not mutually exclusive. Condoms protect from potentially deadly infections. Handing them out for free improves the health esp among youngsters and also reduces unintended pregnancies. I would rather use toilet paper for pads then risking people get that hurt. But are we speaking a specific budget that only allows one of these things? Weirdly specific in that case.
I think both should be free, totally agree that menstruation care is health care (which should be free), but condoms stop unwanted pregnancies and STDa which is important. When my daughter started dating, I told her where I keep a box of them and I said that I don't agree with premarital s*x, but if she decided to disobey me on that, I still wanted her to be safe. So I promised her I wasn't counting them, and said I would never ask questions. To my knowledge, she never needed them, and she's now engaged to that same boy!
Both should be free as condoms are about more than pregnancy. Which would you rather pay for, an inexpensive c****m or $3000 a month for HIV meds?
Make condoms free and easily accessible for certain groups of guys. Make it as easy as possible to make good choices. And pads should always be free for girls and women who cannot afford it. You see it more and more thank goodness.
Can't they do what their grannies did? Women have menstruated for centuries and the last ten years they can't cope. I have had some hard times and needed to think creatively around the issue, but managed without making others aware. Our library had a basket of period products. Those that needed them haha stole the entire basket. Now they have to go and ask the librarian for a tampon. Joyfully the librarian is often a young male. Enjoy your free tampons. If condoms are not free, there will be less of a need for period products.
This is the most idiotic thing I've ever run across. Pads and menstruation items are the woman's or families responsibility to purchase, the state should never give these for free because someone sure is paying for it.
Both should be free, to encourage responsible behavior. It's not a zero-sum game, both sides can 'win'.
Too bad humans without female reproductive organs control everything. Especially female reproductive organs.
They both should be free. Condoms are about more than pregnancy. Cheaper for a c****m than $3000 a month for HIV meds.
Food and shelter isn't a choice, so they should be free too? Why not make everything free? Oh, that's socialism. Which has failed EVERY SINGLE TIME.
Every year, thousands of people become doctors, but only after spending a significant number of years cramming information into their heads. (In 2023, for instance, as many as 28,811 people in the US alone graduated from a medical school.)
It’s no secret that that’s not an easy feat to accomplish, as medical training can take more than a decade of a person's life. According to Indeed, becoming a fully licensed and practicing physician usually takes at least 10 years as it requires a lot of time spent studying, in addition to practical training in a medical environment. With a specialty, the number of years can increase even more.
According to the U.S. News, going through medical school is difficult not only because of how demanding it is or how many years it takes but also because it can get quite costly. The aforementioned source reports that in 2022-2023, the average cost of attendance for 43 private medical schools ranked for both research and primary care was about $63,000. Needless to say, that’s not a sum one can part with without batting an eyelid.
My predecessor was known to smoke a cigarette while telling patients to stop smoking. Those were the days...
Delving deeper into the financial aspect of getting a medical education, Dr. Andrea Stolar, senior associate dean of student affairs at Baylor College of Medicine in Texas, emphasized that many people already have loans from undergraduate school, which then add to their loans for medical school.
"Then, they are going to have multi-years of residency where they are paid a salary, but not sufficiently to really start making any headway on their loans. It's a long stretch to be willing to put off the things that a lot of your friends might be doing as they start jobs and start (to) experience life," the expert told U.S. News.
Unfortunately, student loans are not unheard of among aspiring medical professionals. According to Education Data, as much as 73% of medical school graduates have educational debt. The average debt of med school graduates with medical school and premedical deb—but no non-educational debt—was reportedly as high as $264,519.
Despite it being a long and arduous journey, becoming a doctor is on many people’s bucket lists from an early age. (Likely because at the age of five, you don’t really think about how difficult it is to learn a bunch of Latin names or pay off student loans.) A survey conducted in the UK found that as much as 13% of kids want to become doctors when they grow up!
Print this man on my next bandage and I'll better resist the temptation.
If you’re wondering what the biggest challenge for beginners in med school is, it’s people. By that, I mean their anatomy, as studies have found human anatomy to be the most challenging course for first-year med students.
I once really annoyed a teacher during a lecture on the anatomy of the spine when she was going through everything that can go wrong, and I simply stated that it seemed to be very poorly designed. It was meant as a joke, which she didn’t get. I really think that a creative bridge engineer could come up with a better design.

I can say that, working in healthcare, depending on blood flow or access to limbs, we do occasionally need to get creative. But, this is just bizarre.
Loins. Loins are always a good backup, and everybody has "em: they're what keep your leg bones from clickity-clacking together when you walk! When in doubt, GIVE LOINS!
This reminds me of when I was 24 and had just started dating my now husband, I told some friends I couldn't go to some event as I was "Going to watch X's 6th form football team final" (6th form is age 16-18 for those outside the UK). Turns out that a few of the friends that went to that event raised concerns about the age of my new boyfriend...he was a trainee teacher at the time and the coach!
For those (like me) who don't speak English: an apple a day keeps the doctor away.
well considering it's med school, you might get extra credit for perfect doctor writing
Fun Story: I used to be a Medical Technician (before I quit to be a mechanic). I was in the middle of a minor surgery that was running over into lunch time. The doc started cauterizing and my stomach growled. Loudly.
i'm not even out of high school and this is me. oh boy can't wait for adulthood
the Indian guys on youtube are carrying the entirety of my education
Don't worry about the tiger in this picture - it was photoshopped for a competition.
I'm not even a medical student and yet I've still ruined my own life
I can't help but cringe with all those used needles surrounding an infant, not to mention the handling of those used needles by whoever set it up.
I'm not in med school, but sometimes there's a bit of blood in my coffeestream
Bold of you to assume I even own a wallet. Or any cash to go in the hypothetical wallet.
Nope, there are double-stranded RNAs in some viruses. Yes, I am very funny at parties
I'm so glad I left the hospital behind me and live like a normal human being again
Oh, this is funny! Of course at one point I was told to highlight less than one would assume to think is needed, or it all gets overwhelming.
Dunno, I think it's the other way around, at least in Germany. Studying was actually quite fun, with all the parties and stuff going
This happens to psych students too. You start diagnosing yourself and everyone around you with the most terrifying things
Well, I actually do want the surgeon that is very self confident and sure of themselves. I don't need to like them, I need them to be good at what they do. 😅
Gotta write that down just in case you get a hankering for seven years of schooling and $300K in debt?
