I’m a janitor and make pennies but I also paint for a hobby and people sometimes buy what I paint. When they do it helps me out sooo much. It’s what makes it possible to treat my kids to nice things like a takeaway pizza once a month.
that sounds like it could be serious. See a doctor.
Load More Replies...Aw, where can I buy a painting? Or literally pay for a little pizza night to have delivered to your house? I have the greatest dad who has always worked extra just to treat my mom, brother and I. I feel like you're in the same category as him which is "AMAZING." Keep doing what you do. ❤
As an artist I can relate 💗 Can someone get this gent to post his work so we can help him out by collecting his artwork? For real 👍🙂
Wonder what he sells them for, its very hard to put a price on art. Money is hard to make but easy to spend.

Not the easiest but the coolest, you can feed crows and when they bring you cash, buy them better bread so they learn that you want cash.

I want do this :D does anyone know the best way to befriend crows lol
They recognize faces. Find a place they hang out often and bring bird seed, bread, crackers, whatever they may eat and make sure to make eye contact while feeding them. The ones that recognize you as someone who brings them food will tell their crow friends that you're safe and you provide treats. Keep it up for a month or so before you can expect gifts, but don't stop being kind to them. They'll bring you all sorts of cool things they think you'll enjoy. Cash being one of them.
Load More Replies...I am trying to befriend some local crows now, because I want them to attack my neighbor who sometimes behaves aggressively. I'm in it for the long haul, but the neighbor may not live long enough for my labors to bear fruit.
Then you have to bargain with The Squirrel Mafia, don't mess with them, I've seen them bait cats into chasing them and the cats get run over by cars dodging the squirrel.
Load More Replies...I been feeding the crows walnuts and they haven't given us any gifts yet, but they do scare off the magpies. The magpies mess with our Apple tree and garden.
I feed crows and jackdaws at the park and they havent brought me any money yet 😢
They probably just haven't had a chance to go to the bank yet.

Housesitting. No, seriously; people *will* pay you to just sit in their house while they're on vacation even if they don't have any pets to take care of
GetOutOfThePlanter replied:
One of my past GFs did this during college. There was rich part of town, she would babysit their home for 6 months of the year during winter while they were overseas.
They had cameras and stuff in there to remote check up, but they wanted someone to come and make it seem "someone was home" so nobody got any ideas.
She basically just hung out in this 6 bedroom 8 bathroom house with pool, gym, theater room, etc. Was paid 50 bucks a day. They did this for *years*. It basically paid for her college, and once she graduated it was paying for her rent until the family sold off and moved overseas.
She actually stayed in touch with them last I heard.
I mean, people with these kind of houses hire concierge so i'm not really shocked. You wouldn't want a leak to go unnoticed for 6months.
I'm sure there's more to it than just hanging out at their house if the homeowners are gone for an extended period of time. Someone's gotta mow the lawn and dust, or shovel the walkway and rake the leaves. But, yeah, it's not a bad idea. My daughter's great auntie does this. She once hosted a thanksgiving for the family at the home she was housesitting at.
I saw a documentary on cheap people and this guy does this in NYC. He doesn't even have his own place. He just schedules housesitting gigs and lives in the nicest apartments by central park for free.
I've seen some crazy ads where the homeowner wants the sitter to pay for the privilege of housesitting.
Easiest $300 I ever made was house sitting for 3 days while the owners of the house went skiing.
I would love someone to pay me $50 day to stay at their empty house. Hell, I'll even vacuum and dust!
But you also don't have to pay for accommodation and usually can do it on top of your normal work.
Load More Replies...Check for hidden cameras though. There’s a lot of weirdos out there. It’s a reason I prefer hotels over AirBnb
If you're sitting someone else's home, you shouldn't be doing freaky stuff there. I'm a sitter and lots of my clients have cameras. They can easily see I'm honest and not wrecking their place. I get good tips and called back.
Load More Replies...Talk to realtors about house-sitting jobs. Some jobs may require fix-up, but you may get to live in the property you are serving. Don't worry about ghosts--they like company! lol
I'm assuming she had a side job or something because that's only $9000 for half a year essentially
But no rent. And if they include utilities that about double ($1000 rent / $500 utilities)

My little brother goes live on TikTok and plays Fortnite, literally just points his front camera at the TV as he plays. The people who watch him send “gifts” for him to do whatever they ask of him— make his character do a certain dance move, say something funny, or even turn off his console in the middle of the match. Those “gifts” translate into real money on a secure payment app like PayPal. He made about $150 in one day last week. I don’t understand it but he’s putting the money in his savings account so I’m proud of him either way.
Yeah this is one of those things where if you get a little lucky it's ridiculously lucrative. Most people won't make anything, but if you're already playing and enjoy talking to people you don't really have anything to lose I suppose.
Well, you wasting your time... Where you could be doing something more useful. As in terms of side hustle.
Load More Replies...Twitch does this too and is considered more Family Friendly and more “professional” than TikTok even though it’s the same set-up just exclusively for game streaming.
If I was allowed to do this, I'd be rich. I do hear it gets stressful though and sometimes you need special streaming software for anyone wondering, but I would love to be able to do this.
That wouldn't be allowed in my country unless your little brother is older then 16. Kids are not allowed to work before that. Also, the tax authorities will come around one day.
What country? In most places it's not considered a "job" under certain $$ thresholds, the same way that mowing a few lawns or shoveling a drive for some pocket money. Until then, it's considered gifts/donation.
Load More Replies...The odds of becoming popular enough to make money streaming is a billion to one. You gotta be young, decent looking, or be incredibly charismatic. Others strike light lightning in a niche, like the 84 year old grandma who did a donation birthday steam, and the poor woman was streaming for 3 weeks straight, people kept donating and subbing. The vast, vast majority of streamers are barely seen.
A side hussle is dident from a regular hobby. Video games can cause addiction and seriously mess up people’s futures. Worried for that kid.
I dog sit once a month, at least. If you're good with dogs, than it's an easy gig. Plus the last time I dog sat was closer to the ski hill so I rode a few hours every day. I've never worked with Rover on this side of the coin but it might be worth looking into. All I have to do is mention that I dog sit and people are asking for my number. Just be respectful to the dogs' people, be good to the dogs, and word spreads and more work opens up.
I loved it, even when I had to cook elaborate meals for their Yorkies who had severe allergies.
Skip Rover, work for yourself. If you’re good, your clients will be thrilled to provide you with positive references. If you take good care of someone’s animal, they will love you with their whole heart! Seriously, in 17 years of professional pet sitting, we’ve had to dismiss two clients, and maybe two or three more have been a pain in the butt occasionally. Every other person has been spectacular, and many have become friends.
I would love to have a dog sitter who I really trust- my mom is the only person we trust to care for her "granddog" in the short term, but she is frail so couldn't give our dog the exercise she needs even if she gives her lots of love. A trustworthy person who would care for our dog like she was their own would be worth their weight in gold.
Load More Replies...As a petsitter I have to insert that it is not always an "easy gig". But I truly love what I do. Even with the difficult days.
A friend at work asked me to help with their dog when they went on their honeymoon. Just go feed/ let them out at lunch, the sister was coming to stay at house later The have an older dog ( corgie) and a husky puppy. The corgi was fine, the husky was not. At the hour nark of trying to get the dog in, I really considered I was being pranked. Had to call friend in honeymoon, pur them on speaker and the dog obeyed them.
Load More Replies...Know that if you are sitting someone's dog, it's a life. Best to leave it to professionals since they have insurance to cover any accidents. I know of a man who only looks after larger dogs and his insurance coverage is 1 million dollars. Dogs can be unpredictable so better to be safe.
When I was in college, my aunt left town & asked me to stay at her house & take care of her dog for that week. It was nice to have a quiet place to study, so it worked out. Walking her dog I met several neighbors whose dogs were bro’s with him, so I’d have to explain why I was walking Phred in the first place. Soon I had a steady revolving door of income, dogs to play with, and quiet houses to study in. Those people were so stupid…I would have played with their dogs for free 😉
My friend makes the money to do her home improvements and take vacations with this job.
Been a pet sitter since the 80s and have worked for 3 pet sitting companies.

One thing: If you've suffered a bad facial injury, you can make some serious money as an extra. Especially if the injury is the kind that would require green screening to replicate.
If you've seen LOTR The Two Towers, at Helm's Deep one of the soldiers is missing an eye. That wasn't CGI or prosthetics.

I was an extra in a baseball stadium scene once. It was INCREDIBLY BORING. We had to stay up all night doing nothing for hours, then pretend to be watching a baseball game (silently) for a few minutes, then back to doing nothing. Adam Sandler movie, never watched it.
THANK YOU!!! In grad school I was a server/bartender at a place downtown & I met the occasional celebrity. One such celebrity told me that I should do some acting work, which was all the incentive I needed. He wrote down the number of a “local agent” I should call, which somehow ended w/me HAPPILY paying $900 for headshots (because who cares? I was about to be movie star rich. Soon I’d be wiping my a*s with $900) & a number of other photos for my “portfolio.” I shot several infomercials, 3 pilots that were never picked up, 4 commercials, & some local news related re-enactments. I don’t think I even made $900 total. Some shoots involved up to 8 hours of waiting around before we started filming. We couldn’t leave after checking in & it was before smart phones, when phones were dumb, so we occupied time passing around whichever magazine someone had the foresight to bring, & bitching. I’m obviously not rich & famous, so I wouldn’t say it was worth it 😂 SO BORING!
Load More Replies...Okay, I’m sorry to be that guy, but I have to say: You Are Not ugly!!! You are special. But You Are Not Ugly!!!!
I could probably be a good zombie. Already skinny as a rail and emaciated looking and bald.
You don't be an extra for the money. When considering the hours you have to be available waiting, the hourly rate is next to nothing. If you don't have time to waste, this is not a good option.
Real productions pay you for the time you are on set--waiting or not.
Load More Replies...I was an extra in a couple of TV shows years ago. It's true, you'll make a hundred bucks or so for a day's work, and most of the day you sit around just waiting for the director to use you. And when they do use you, you have to do the same scene over and over and over again. It's maddening :P
Yes, the actor, Tommy Flanagan, has facial scar and he's been in major films & Sons of Anarchy
If you have even the slightest amount of writing talent, you can get commissions from weird Furries (or other niche fandoms) to write pretty mediocre stuff for a fat pay check.
Example: I know this guy whose paid (on multiple occasions) 70USD a pop for poorly formatted, more or less amateur short stories (under 5 pages) about Furries and Pokemon or whatever.
Seriously, these people will gladly pay mad cash for literally any quality of writing as long as it indulges their interests.
Ah, but then I wouldn't have time to write on BP with all my grammatical errors, misspellings and typos! (Thank you for always ignoring them.)
OOOHHH, we are all going to be watching for them now. LOL, just kidding.
Load More Replies...I tried to google this, but have a hard time finding anything. How do i get money from writing some dudes preferd smut??
I'd do this in a second if i knew where to go. I'm a great fanfic writer; i didn't realize i could get paid for this, lol.
I haven't done it yet but I was thinking about doing it soon since I'm a furry myself and a pretty good writer, and luckily I don't have limits anymore. I'm in a lot of furry discord servers so usually posting it in places where it's allowed to be advertised (that's important) but there's other sites too I guess. Personally, I would ask for a tiny percent upfront and then get paid after the product is finished, so neither person gets ripped off, but there's a lot of different methods or ways to go about it. Haven't done it myself though yet.
Load More Replies...Depends on how you frame it. It's illegal to sell a story with copyrighted characters, but it's not illegal to sell your time. That's why digital artists can get paid crazy money for drawing furry porn of popular characters. They're selling their time and talent, not the drawing itself.
Load More Replies...Most furries are loaded because they do crafting that gets them paid big bucks. Ever made a fur suit?! Takes TALENT not just skill. Its basically building the shell of an animatronic. I love making stuff for cosplays and whatever but fur suits are another lebel. Id never make one lest i got a couple hundred downpaid for cover just the materials id need. Trust me when j saiy this. Most furries are in a pretty good physical condition. And have a pretty good finance plan to work their hobbies.
Unfortunately not for me though. I'm a furry but don't really have any money at the moment just with current life circumstances. I would love a fursuit but they're CRAZY expensive. I've seen more that don't have money because we're just normal people and not everybody has great skills and talents unfortunately.

Sounds like this is or could easily be "under the table." I would worry about permits, liability if there is an accident on either end, etc.
I carry liability and comp no matter if I'm on a regular scheduled job or a side job
Load More Replies...Try your hand at this if you will but don't overestimate your skills. Also, the woodstove wasn't drawing properly so I had a look and found a metal cover that had a bright yellow "remove after installation" sticker.
No, that isn't easy money. You need to have serious skills. It might count as a side-hustle but it's not like YouTubingfor a living. I couldn't fall out of of bed tomorrow and call myself an electrician.
Yes, but the OP is already an electrician. I took it as "do what you're good at", not just electrician. My husband creates games and sells them online. He also writes books.
Load More Replies...Where I am, you need a license to work as an electrician and have your work approved for use.
Handyman work isn't electrical necessarily. Could be patching drywall, mounting a TV, replacing a door, small stuff that could be DIY if you have a little skill. This guy is an electrician as his main job.
Load More Replies...As long as you have public liability insurance you're probably okay.
A few years ago, I had a friend who used to advertise on Craigslist for 'Handyman' work, he actually got alot of jobs from older, retired people. They paid decent, and he would do random stuff, like set up a flood light, hang a picture, mow the grass. The pay was negotiable, but he did better than I assumed he would

Donate plasma. Especially right now. New donors in my area are getting 100-175.
ReferHvacGuy replied:
Can you really call it donate? Sounds more like... selling plasma.
TrollTollTony replied:
Yeah, as a former blood center employee this really annoys me. Blood centers don't pay for blood/plans because those donations actually go into other people for medical procedures. The FDA bans financial compensation for organ, tissue, and blood components.
Plasma centers that pay for it send the blood to pharmaceutical companies who use the blood to make drugs that they then spend billions to market and charge customers an arm and a leg for. You aren't donating, you are a wholesale blood supplier for a billion dollar corporation... But that's not as "feel good" so they call it a "donation".
Nobody gets paid for donating where I am. It's not donating if you get paid, it's selling.
Exactly! In Switzerland you don't get any money either. The reason it's on a donating basis is, it keeps all the druggies and other people out for a quick buck away. The idea is to get disease free blood from the start, testing and processing costs a ton of money for it to be tossed bc something was wrong to begin with. And as a man you are only allowed to go 4 times a year and women 3 times (full blood).
Load More Replies...In Australia we volunteer and donate blood, not sell it. The recipient doesn't pay for it either. It is a humane gift from one human to an unknown stranger in need.
Absolutely. My mother needed several blood transfusions before she passed, so my sister and i are glad to donate. The blood bank tells us, about a week later, where it's gone, which is pretty cool. They also provide free water and juice and snacks afterwards. The last time I gave, a couple of weeks ago, the nurse told me that - in Australia, at least - they don't accept "whole blood". Instead, they separate the blood and the plasma. Some of it goes to burns victims, who have lost the serum from their blood when their skin burned. Some of it goes to people who may have suffered a major haemorrhage and need a transfusion. I forget the third thing she told me. I'm O negative, which is in great demand and can be used by any blood type, so they love it, when I'm able to donate. The cool thing is, they remind me when my "three-months-to-rebuild-the-body" is up, and ask if I'd like to donate again.
Load More Replies...Donating blood IS NOT THE SAME THING as donating plasma, and it is frankly ridiculous that people are not paid for blood "donations" the same way they're compensates for plasma "donations,", since whole blood is separated into red cells, platelets, and plasma after donation - and companies charge through the nose for blood - anyway. As for keeping all the "druggies" away, testing is not expensive, especially when compared to what companies pay for plasma and what they make off of a single bottle. Testing is mandatory and absolutely necessary for the safety of those on the receiving end. Donations of whole blood are separated into usable parts, and given to people who need them. Whole blood donations are VERY UNCOMMON. Most transfusions are red blood cells only; this goes to physical trauma victims. Platelets go mostly to people with cancer or bleeding disorders, and the plasma goes to burn victims and people in liver failure, among other things.
The ONLY difference between donating blood and "donating" plasma is that it takes your body quite a bit longer to recover from losing a pint of blood than it does from donating plasma: two months versus two days. Otherwise, it is still a big corporation taking part of your body for their own profit. Why shouldn't people be compensated for that?
Load More Replies...The issue isn't the money or the term donation, its actually the fact that the people are being grossly under paid for selling their plasma.
My best friend thought that he could move to Arizona with nothing just survive by selling plasma. So glad he decided not to do it because really how long could you keep that up? Your veins are going to fail eventually if you keep taking blood and selling it twice a week. He told me that's how his friend survives and supports her meth habit in Arizona. I'm sceptical
TWICE A WEEK? They recommend donating every three months for men and every 4 for women
Load More Replies...Last December I made $1200 “donating” plasma 2x a week (the legal limit - you can donate twice in 7 days) which is how I was able to get Christmas gifts for my sisters & nieces/nephews. I started “donating” after my younger Goddaughter was diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder & learned that plasma was necessary for her treatment, but it can’t be manufactured in a lab, so I started donating in solidarity to support her & people like her. But getting paid is a happy side effect. If I donate 2x a week, I make at least $100 - but each month they offer different bonuses for stuff & daily “happy hour” within which they pay extra $10 - $20 bonuses for donations. The $ is loaded onto a debit card immediately following donation. It’s not going to pay all of the bills, but it sure helps.
Getting paid for your time and effort doesn't make you an a*****e, plasma can be processed in a way whole blood wouldn't survive. It doesn't go directly into a patient but is involved in a lot treatments that help real people. I don't know why everyone is so clutch the pearls on the Internet.
I've sold my plasma, it's not the same as donating blood, they give you your red cells back. I hated it, it really wiped me out too much. But it really is a way to make some cash legally.
Donating blood is different than selling your plasma. If you are real hard up for cash, then sell your plasma. Think about yourself before getting all bent about Big Pharma. I have A- So I designate where I want my blood to go (childrens hospitals) in return I am qualified to get free blood if I need it for a surgery. I did that in Texas, now doing it in Louisiana.
If you have the space and the means of transport, get free/cheap furniture on Craigslist/marketplace/etc and refinish/fix and resell. I did this through college on top of having a part time job, so it wasn't the most consistent based on how much free time I had, but on good months I could make a couple thousand bucks with not all that much work.
Myself and a friend offer "junk removal" services online. More often than not we end up with a lot of items that can be resold. We get paid (after landfill fees) about $100 a load and can make an extra hundred or more on the good stuff! If you are thinking of getting into this business make sure you let the customer know in advance that you may "recycle, resell or reuse" any quality items. 100% if the time they're okay with this.
Don't expect to make a heap straight away though. Often you barely break even unless you have really specialised skills right off the bat.

Maybe 10 years ago I stumbled across Internet publishing for local businesses (and some not so local) that thought they couldn't afford a nice web site. The companies that publish professional web sites charge thousands of dollars, seriously inflated prices and it scares small businesses away.
Using one of the self publishing services available (I use Godaddy) I can build a functional, good looking web site to advertise services like mobile car detailing, home cleaning services, religious groups and their meetings and so on. I have a decent desktop and high speed connection so publishing isn't hard to do.
I'm legit with an LLC and I pay taxes on it all. It's just easier that way in the long run and provides potential customers some assurance that I won't take their money and run.
I keep it low key, my charges are ridiculously low, I don't ask for contracts or long term commitments. It's a good service at a low price that I can do from home in my pajamas.
Easy money!
For anyone with a creative streak and even basic computer skills, it's really easy to build in WordPress and make some $$.
I'm tech savvy, a quick learner and have done some site building but I find it so boring 😟 (+ I'd rather be painting, 💗 working in oils, slice o'heaven!)
Load More Replies...As a web developer, I disagree with charging little money for very well made websites. There's design work, search engine optimization, responsive layouts, and even marketing strategy implementations to consider. This is not work for peanuts, this deserves at least $1000, especially if a site requires e-commerce or other advanced features. That said I understand some people operate on a shoestring budget and so that's why a professional will provide flexible payment options. Also, I disagree with not having contracts. You should always have one, for your protection, it just needs to be simple, allow the user to back out of the commitment with sensible clauses. Lastly, WordPress is garbage, if you want to use a CMS, use a headless one like Directus or Strapi, which provides better security, better organization of data and content and allows you to build a custom front end for the website, putting the design work back in the hands of developers and away from people who suck at designing.

If you are swimming/diving in the ocean, there are sharks. Heck if you are in certain rivers ,there maybe sharks. Bull sharks can and do swim in brackish water. They jave found bull sharks swimming in the Mississippi River.

Kids and adults trust me way more than they do a 16 year old instructor with 8 kids in a 30-minute class. I took the water safety class at 61, and the lifeguard class at 62. I now teach private swim lessons to anyone. $50 for 30 minutes. I seriously impress water safety and self rescue initially, then floating, then move to propelling through the water, to finally working on strokes. I LOVE MY KIDS!
I work at a thrift store. My shift starts at opening time. When I pull in there's a massive line at the entrance every. Single. Morning. For the longest time I had no idea why, but everyone I tell this to speculates that it's because people buy things at the store (everything is *ridiculously* cheap. And when I say cheap, I mean I tagged a vase that was originally $150 for $8. I've also tagged some video games for insanely cheap prices, usually priced around $2) and sell them online for a much, much higher price.
ETA: For those who are curious, I work at Deseret Industries (or DI for short).
There's a thrift store in Canada who made a big stink about people buying things out of her store and selling them online for much higher. She's stilling getting her profits if she were to sell to anyone else. But now she's refusing to sell to resellers. (Limiting the amount of items they can buy, I mean.)
Yeah because this practice ruined thrifting. In the USA now it's like, "do I buy this used or go buy it new for the same price" which is really shitty for people who actually can't afford things.
Load More Replies...I'm not sure how common knowledge this is, but everything "Deseret" branded is owned wholly by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints(i.e. the Mormon Church).
In my area, "antique" shops raid the Goodwill for stuff they can label "antique" and upsale at a high margin. I don't even go to the antique stores anymore because they are just selling thrift store junk and rarely ever have anything truly antique in terms of what they are charging.
I do not know about this. Most second hand sotres I have seen are terribly expensive
A lot of the bigger places have started having staff research items to check their worth, then pricing based on that. Stay local, find places that give back to the community or otherwise don't screw over people who really need the stuff.

Right now, I'm in a paid medical study. I'm getting $10k for 3 weeks of my time. You take drugs that are going through the whole approval process. If the drug gets this far, it's generally known to be safe already. They are testing for how long it lasts in your system with various dosage amounts, fasted vs. unfasted, etc.
If it was 'safe' it would be on the market already. People have died carrying out these 'safe' human trials. There was one such incident here in the UK not so long ago. They don't give you 10k for the fun of it. It's danger money, pure and simple. Treat with caution.
Yeah, it might be more appropriate to say that the people operating the study *think it's probably mostly safe*, and one of the things they're checking for is side effects(things like sudden death and a**l leakage, that, even while extremely rare, are still very important to know prior to selling the drug for profit).
Load More Replies...It sounds sketchy and there is always slight risk, but it is a necessary step for the approval of new medications (in the US at least), so we should be grateful people are willing to do this! Colleges and medical schools often have non-pharmaceutical studies looking for volunteers and pay a decent amount as well for filling out surveys or other activities. I made $150 in a couple of hours lying in the FMRI machine reading words on a screen while they measured my brain waves. It was an interesting experience and helped build scientific knowledge about neuroscience.
This is not a way to make any kind of guaranteed income. First, a lot of studies are simply voluntary. Second, you have to meet the study criteria for a participant to even be considered. Thirdly, you are usually chosen at random if the study is using proper controls and blinding. So don't get your hopes up.
4th, you have to make it at least most, if not all, of the way through the trial. If you drop out or get dropped, you usually don't get much compensation.
Load More Replies...You can also participate in studies/experiments that don't carry any risk to you, for faculties like psychology or economics at universities. Good for making some drinking money if you're a student.
I'm a little skeptical about psych studies. As a social science/psych major, knowing the history of psych experiments doesnt make one want to jump in line to participate. I mean, look at the Stanford Prison Experiment, that mentally damaged people for years. We may be a bit more ahead with ethics in some areas, but psychology is still a very young field
Load More Replies...I was involved in a number of studies at the university/medical center that I attended to make some extra money. You're paid regardless of whether you're in the medication or control group and the point of the blinding is that no one knows which group you're in... that includes the investigators if it's a double blind study. They will conduct screenings and get your medical information before accepting you into a study, then you're monitored closely for any adverse effects. There's no guarantee that you'll get in a study, but if you do just be sure to do your due diligence and get all the information that you need in order to make an informed decision. It can be a very interesting experience.
Umm what kind of Drugs? Asking for a bunch of friends and a few strangers!
None of the fun ones. Though I did know a guy who had his little toe amputated and reattached for one of these studies and it paid for his college.

For you maybe, but $10,000 could seriously improve my life.
Load More Replies...No way. Side effects of drugs that are already on the market sound worse than the disease. Who knows what these will do over time. Just my opinion.
Babysitting. I s**t you not, if you watch people's kids you can make easy money. I watched two 8 year olds a couple times a week and it was great. Cooked a meal, hung out with some good kids, helped with homework, put them to bed and did my own thing/cleaned until parents got home.
I made $20-25 an hour. Less if it's just one kid.
Forty years ago, I had a whole business of babysitting. $300 for a weekend. I did those a lot. Parties for Christmas & NYE, charged extra for those also. My 2nd brother started, then at 18 pass it to my 3rd brother, then he gave it to me. Mostly the same families with multiple kids and adding my own just like my 3rd brother did too. You have a good rep, everyone wants you so you need to keep a day-timer, even at 16.
Lol I have to say this looked like one of those scam bot posts at first sight😂
Load More Replies...Lol. If you get an easy family. Wait till you get one kid who's screaming about something inconsequential, one kid who's bossy and insults you to your face, and a baby who's throwing up on you all at once and then tell me it's an easy side hustle.
That only works if you are caring for children who have wealthy parents. In my experience babysitting i was caring for children with parents working for minimum wage or slightly above. You can't expect to be paid minimum wage if that's all that the parent's are making. So I was making more like a dollar an hour definitely not $20-25.
Finally someone who understands the math! Minimum wage means I literally cannot pay 20$, not that don't want to.
Load More Replies...I got paid $.50 an hour back in the 70s. Maybe I should come out of retirement.

If your cor, first aid certified and have a car its easy to make like $21/hr babysitting depending on your area

I grew up in little town with heaps of boats and during summer there was always heaps of work to do. I liked washing hulls the most. Just chilling in the water all day. But I'm not sure if I would enjoy it as much as an adult anymore.
I'm guessing you've never had to scrape a hull of barnacles. Nasty job, & those suckers are SHARP!
That's what I was wondering. And the glue that they use to stick on is better than industrial strength glue!

I've done this, and do not recommend it. It's a true dirty job and is incredibly dangerous. All it takes is for the owner of one of these boats to forget you're under it, one time..
Preferably if your a kid. But mowing lawns or raking/mulching leafs, or shoveling snow.
What I learned as a kid doing this, is that you charge like 5$ because in adults eyes, your just a kid that doesn’t know money. So most people will pay you like 15-20$.
And yea sometime there will be that person that will give you the $5 and leave but the chances of getting extra are a lot higher.
I loved it when kids were coming back from school and would pass our house and offer to do either the grass or the snow depending on the season. Now they don't do this anymore and it's a shame. But like you, they'd charge me $10 I'd give them $20 because it was usually a lot of work (lots of snow or very warm outside). I'd also put some pop/water and cookies on the side for them.
I had two kids offered to do or driveway for 20 bucks. (Shoveling snow after a heavy fall) they had one shovel and wanted to borrow our other one so both kids could do it. We said okay and they did the driveway we gave them their 20 bucks and they stole our $25 shovel!

I'd love if i could hire a kid to come take out my trash once or twice a week. unfortunately there are no kids in my building. But I'd like to have someone come and shovel for my elderly parents at their house, too and there are never any kids around outside anymore.
Butter cakes. The initial investment usually involves a baking pan, a mixer, and an oven (which most places have preinstalled). Tally up the costs per cake and depending on the country you can sell the cakes for a 300% markup. Even more if you package it neatly.
As you develop this skillset you will be able to branch out into other areas like simple chocolate cakes.
Before i moved i was selling brick-shaped buttercakes to neighbors for $200 a week and I’m fairly sure i could have made more if I wasn’t a lazy a*s.
In my state (Massachusetts), you can't do this unless you've applied for a permit and had your premises inspected by the Board of Health. You can sell food that hasn't been processed, like tomatoes from your garden, but not food you've made.
Yes, same in my state in the USA. And you can't sell anything that need refrigeration from home (for that you have to have a commercial kitchen, e.g. actually running a bakery). So no fruit fillings, pies, whipped cream, etc.
Load More Replies...Here in Florida, you'd need to rent space in a commercial kitchen & get checked out by the Board of Health etc.
Beware of local laws though. I THINK it might fall under "cottage industry" rules?
This is Illegal almost everywhere in the US. Also, $200 a week is less than 1/3 of poverty wages.
None of these so far are legitimate ways to make extra cash. Half are Teen jobs, a third are actual jobs that require fulltime hours, and the rest are somebody's hobby that they were able to sucker family and friends into buying. This is the best society has to offer for advice???

Sign up for Prolific! Answer a bunch of non-identifying demographics, get the opportunity to participate in paid research studies from universities, various companies and other research facilities all over the world. Ranges from quick surveys, more in depth studies, sometimes you can come across ones wanting to schedule virtual interviews for further research.
Based in the UK and you get paid in pounds, but you can cash out to PayPal and easily convert it to local currency. (You can also get a free PayPal debit card upon applying for ease of just using your balance like any other money) If you have the time to really put into it during the day when most studies are posted, and have an internet connection somewhere where you can focus, you could probably make a few hundred a week depending on the studies you’re eligible for. I’ve made $200/week when I was unemployed a couple of times in the past. And that was in the western summertime where there weren’t nearly as many studies as there are at the moment. Highly recommend!
Where does people find this things? The only one i know is Google rewards and you get like 8 cents per survey and only every few weeks...
State universities usually have studies you can get compensation for , because of all the PhD students doing research projects.
My daughter did this multiple times during her studies. The professors used to email her to invite her specifically. It helps pay the bills.
I remember an article stating, that a lot of studies had to be canceled and/or redone bc a lot of young people participated in very many various studies (bc of the money). This lead to false results bc the overall age range of participants was no longer comparable to the whole population. 🤷♀️
The focus groups are fantastic. generally paid $80-150 for 1-2hrs - but the online surveys generally pay 10c to 80c for a survey that can take between 15mins to 1h 30m. Those are not worth my time.

Teach English to foreign students online.
itismejacobg replied:
I think this has become a common misconception. There's usually a pretty lengthy approval process, many companies won't hire someone without a bachelor's degree, the hours suck until you've been with the same company for a long time (usually over a year), pay isn't always great and they can change the rate whenever they want, and students can be incredibly difficult to work with. It can be a super draining gig, and there's often very strict punishment for being late or missing a class.
It's probably way better if you're working independently and have your own clients, but teaching English to foreign students online through an existing company is NOT an easy gig.
This is absolutely true! Before I became an ESL teacher a few years back, I realized that even though I'm a native English speaker, I really didn't have the knowledge to teach grammar. It's a lot harder than it seems. I had to learn quite a bit before I was comfortable enough to get in front of a class.
Load More Replies...Not an easy or satisfying way to make money at all, even if you're working privately. Clients often assume that teaching is easy and they want to pay accordingly. Many also have unrealistically high expectations of what can be accomplished in an online setting with child students, who can be reluctant and difficult to engage. Adult learners are somewhat easier but then you really need to know your sh*t to stand out as a teacher.
My sister's friend taught English in China. She moved there too. Only required an associates degree. She made more money teaching three days a week than locals.
I know of a few teachers who did similar in Asian countries for a while and said it paid really well.

Hated learning them in school but as an adult, what's acquired and applied as a result, makes tremendous difference in life and how one performs & is perceived.

Yes I imagine you have to be a Bartender, counselor and bouncer at times. I'm sure there's way more involved. I know I get tired very quickly dealing with drunk people myself.
Load More Replies...It's hard to get a bartending job. You usually have to work up to it, being a waiter or bar back. You can't just go out and get a bartending job, because everyone wants to be one.
if it's your *first* bartending job, yes, usually you have to do that, but once you've been an actual bartender, you're set. I'm 43, and have been bartending since I was 22. Ive worked everywhere from chain restaurants, to tourist traps, to night clubs. The money can be extremely good. I usually made atleast $35/hour take home (not counting your paycheck) ... But it can be hard work, long (and late) hours, physically and emotionally draining. I've finally switched to something else...all those years on my feet took a toll, and I'm burnt out.

This largely depends on both the bar and your skills. No one's making $30-40 per hour at the local pub.
I work at one of the few local pubs in our city and average $40-50 an hour. And I know a ton of guys who make the same...
Load More Replies...I have a friend who straight up looks like a shorter version of Giselle Bundchen. She's the prettiest woman i've ever seen in real life- just gorgeous. And she got a job working as a bartender at a hugely popular club in Boston. She takes home, in tips alone, easily 1000 per night. Nevermind her base pay and any crazy wild tips she occasionally gets, too. She works really hard but she works 3 days a week. She's 24 and owns 2 homes as well as a small bakery. She's married but doesn't have kids so they are just rolling in money. It's crazy how much you can make as a beautiful girl.
You can't just walk into a bar & call yourself a bartender tho. Most front of the house people start by being bus people or bar backs & work their way up.
Former bartender here, the tip culture can be great, but my experience turned into four years of cocaine addiction, alcoholism, and cheating on my partner with multiple others who had similar issues. Not a good look for me. Definitely some valuable lessons learned though.
Maybe they meant to say dealing w/drunk people not feeling w/them (?)
One of the best things I ever did was going to bartender school. Did some parties years ago made like $125 for 2 hrs of work.
You got ripped off, bartender schooling is a joke, and no real bar will hire you straight up to tend bar. You will still be a barback, and even then if someone with more experience applies they will get the job over you. Oh and the Ego because they "Went to school..." Is vomit inducing.

They pay even if you're kind of [bad]. The Furry community is super weird and well paid or employed Furries tend to just support "up and coming" Furry creators in hopes of having their earlier works and supporting their community. BUT they can get super dark, and sketchy very fast. I have family that are part of their communities and it can get ugly. Several artists get trapped doing furry art and deviating they can get mass hate from the community.
If I had any artistic talent I'd definitely have done this for cash. The amount of money there seems to be in drawing furry porn is ridiculous.
only if you can print in body-safe silicone, so casting is far more popular. either way, it DOES pay!

I still think they were super [upset] on that one because I was undercutting the school store, but [screw] them a dollar for a pencil is [effin] ridiculous, especially when you could buy a pack of 24 for like two bucks.
Again, not legal where I am unless you have a license and your kitchen is a commercially licensed kitchen... These are all terribly US centric again.
It is illegal to sell anything in a US public school unless it is for fundraising specifically for a school club or activity set up by the school.
This type of selling not exactly legal in the US either. Kids are not supposed to be going to school and selling stuff out of their lockers, especially food. These students did it as a side business with the understanding that they could be caught and shut down in any minute. True entrepreneurs! (One of my sons tried to sell his Halloween candy the next day at school, the principal was having none of that)
I can guess what "upset" and "effin" are supposed to be. But what word was "screw" ???
Plus nowadays, most middle and high schools don't use lockers, so no place to keep all that stuff.
My school ended up not allowing sale of food items for fundraising at lunch or recess, because of the contract they had with the people who ran the canteen. Any bake sales for charity or school trips had to be done out of school hours.

It's extra pocket money, if you have your own car and you can pick a time when it's constant work, I never worried about distance, just always having someone in the back, made the best hourly rate I could only do mornings, but the reverse run, work or airport to home, around 4.30pm–7pm is much the same.
Where I am it's not legal unless you have a taxi license, a taxi driver diploma, a car registered as a taxi and taix insurance. Not worth the outlay.
I used to do it in Nashville, TN full-time. Yes drivers do make money, yes it's good money. No you don't need a Taxi Anything or even a business license! A 10hr shift usually netted between $250 to $400 without tips. I just got burned out on the drunks and them being rude.
Buddy of mine did this for a bit until realizing how much of a hassle it is. He got decent tips here and there from the ones that were familiar with how to tip for the service. But in general he got the ones that were bitter for even having to use the service or the drunken idiot that would throw up in his back seat.
I drove Lyft for a year part time. It's was quite an experience, and yeah, the extra money can be good
What do insurance policies say about using the vehicle commercially?
I have to say the Uber drivers I’ve gotten have been bad! And I always tip well too. They either play c**p music too loud (have to ask them to turn it down) or they have too much stuff in their trunk to fit my suitcases. I’m not picky I just want a quiet, safe ride to the airport.
This doesn't necessarily pay for the overhead on your car. If you figure in maintenance I would imagine the benefits vs. expenditure would evaporate. I worked in the "independent contractor" realm for years and using my own vehicle basically negated a decent wage. Even with writing off most of the expenses and fuel, it did not make up for the outlay of cash.
Everyone I know who tried this said it's not worth it and gave up after a year or two.
Where I live (Ontario) you need the correct insurance. If you get in an accident while driving Uber and your insurance company is unaware of your activities they won't pay. Most people ignore that, but if you're unlucky you're screwed!
Ask every person you see for a penny or a dollar.
In 1987 a guy named Mike Hayes asked everyone he could for a penny to pay for college. He collected 2.3 million pennies. Paid for his education.
If he collected a penny per minute for 16 hours per day it would take him nearly 7 years to collect this amount. In reality there was a newspaper column that gave his address asking for donations. Most people donated relatively larger sums than one penny. It was a pre-internet go fund me/kickstarter scheme.
Thanks for the extra info, I figured there had to be more to the story.

Recently, I heard that ad made a fortune for the creators and I'm sure they had it in a lot more publications than just Rolling Stone magazine.
The penny thing, when asking for donations, in my opinion its better to ask for what soemeone can afford to give (especially with gas prices rising like it is) you may find more people willing to donate if your asking for as little as a penny, some donation websites don't go under $20. If you can get 1 million people do donate a penny you can end up with $10000.

One day I had enough and told one parent, loud, that they're kids! They're not playing for the Major Leagues! I did have a round of applause, and the coaches on both sides cane by and shook my hand. Fast forward to last year. Grandkids were in sports. My wife volunteered me to help coach. Well the coach called and was interested in me helping him. I refused. He tried to put a guilt trip on me saying that the kids need our support. That's when I told him about what happened previously. He turned it around and basically agreed as to why I refused. I just can't see kids being treated like that. Very toxic. I understand them engaging in sports, but to go through this? I'm scared to actually think what goes on at some of their homes.

Load More Replies...My friend went through this with the Quebec Major Junior Hockey league, as well as a lot of other smaller org. in youth hockey. Does that mean umpires/referees? We don't have much in school sport here- interschool round robins are about it. I think outside school sport the umpires are often volunteers.
I do a lot of 3d printing and inventing for people.
Like, someone will get the Hasbro HASLAB Mandolorian Razor Crest and be like "man.. I sure wish this hole was cut open for action figures to see out in the escape pod" and someone will scan it, send it to me, have me hollow out the window, print a window, and create an 'add on' for the escape pod. As long as it's an 'artist rendition' and a 'fan art' you can probably get around most of the trademark laws.
I also 3d printed teleprompter supports for Major League Baseball's internet division.
It's a lot of work, and a lot of fun and I made some good scratch. But I have to be home to do it, which kind of sucks.
I’ve tried something like this but have yet to have any decent success. I should try finding something that not many people make..or something that no one else does..
I used to buy stuff on Etsy from a guy in Russia. He made a lot of tools to help make albums (scrapbooking). I don't buy anything anymore mostly because I don't need anything else.

I do DoorDash and it’s pretty good for “toys”, which in my case is new release video games and smaller electronics. I don’t see it paying for a house, car, etc., but it’s a solid side hustle to do so you won’t have to dip into your ancillary paycheck as much.
I've never used DoorDash, but I've read many related stories about it. It seems the drivers are dependent on tips, and making money is a bit more difficult. Does anyone here have an experience doing this?
Base pay is about $2. At some times of the day they may have an additional "peak" pay bonus of $1 - $3. You are a subcontractor so need to put 25% aside as taxes. Also need to put another 25% aside for fuel and maintenance. So on a basic run i make $1 -$2 for my time and effort. So tips (when you get them) are where you make your real pay.
Load More Replies...Just throwing out this idea....I wish there was a service like doordash, etc but the customer could put out the request of what they need, and the dashers would bid on the job based on how much they want to make to do it. This way, the dasher gets paid what they reasonably want, and the customer could have multiple stops or maybe restaurants/stores that are a little out of the doordash/uber etc area, and could get everything they need. Grocery pickup, some takeout, maybe a pharmacy stop, etc. For instance, i would order waaaaay more amazon or walmart, local stores, and expensive items if I knew I could get it delivered TO my apartment. I've got money to spend but I don't because I can't carry that up the stairs. They all deliver to your door but if you live in an apartment, you have to go down and get it and carry it up. I want everything brought to MY door, not just THE door of the building. No one offers this service and it's crazy because we'd pay for it!
(2) But it would be nice to put in exactly what we need and get it all in one delivery. Kind of like a personal shopper but the shopper can choose which jobs they want. And this way, if i put out something and no one bids on it, then I know I'm not offering enough money for it so no one gets screwed over. Almost like an ebay but for services. It would also help to get heavier items like furniture. I'm disabled and I'd buy more if I could get someone to carry them upstairs for me. I can't do that now because I don't know when the delivery is going to get here. But if I could send someone to pick it up instead...awesome! I think for a guy who maybe doesn't have a great record but has a truck and some strength- it would be a good opportunity.

Wholesale shower curtain ring sales to independent motels in Brooklyn, NYC area.
They don’t have a Union and there are no Mobs to take interest in the market.
38% of immigrants staying at motels steal shower curtain rings for cheap jewelry and aftermarket sales. So there is always an unserved market cash on the table at any given flea bag motel in the NYC area. Try it and you will be amazed.
38% of immigrants staying at motels steal shower rings? Who the hell believes an insane statistic like that?
I'd like to know where they got that 38% stat from. sounds like something they pulled out of their a$$ to be racist
38% of immigrants steal shower curtain rings!! Wth is wrong with people 😒 Another racist pulling some weird lie out of their a**e 🤦🏼♀️
You mean like John Candy on Planes, Trains and Automobiles. Just watched that again this weekend. LOL
Great, but now I need a shower curtain ring supplier and a plane ticket to JFK.

There's always that one person who's going to point out something like "yea but you need a license or be able to do the job" etc. It's tiring. We know. Check what your town/city allows or not and go from there. Pay your dues. Get that permission. Put it in your income taxes (there's a line specifically for this type of job). Do you really need to point it out every single time? No.
Picking up scrap metal. People will throw out/leave on the curb items to big to fit in the trash. They throw away steel copper brass and aluminium. Most people don't care if you take it. If they are outside when you come by be polite and ask. Don't scatter other large items it if it is in a pile leave it as neat as possible. You'll be surprised how fast it adds up copper cords bring a good price and if you strip the insulation it is a better price. Aluminum is fairly common and doesn't take up as much space if you are saving up enough to make a run to a scrap yard. Copper brass and aluminum pay the best but also don't take up much room. I focus mainly on what pays the most since I have little room for storage. Steel can take up lots of space and takes a lot to make a scrap metal run worth the cost of fuel.
When I take my trash out, I separate large, metal objects to make it easier for the metal recyclers to see and pick up.
Load More Replies...This isn't easy but it's legal and depending on the company, you get paid great money and benefits. I work for a ferry company up in the north. I'm on a boat for two weeks on, two weeks off, the days are long. But the long days don't outweigh everything I get in return. Two weeks of work and I walk away with over 5 grand. Use your two weeks off to relax or work something else. So if you have the option for that depending on where you live, take it.
My two sons worked where the derricks are in Alberta, in the kitchen. Tons of money there too, mostly because it's isolated, lots of work, and you live in bunkhouses. Not easy either.

They do gift cards instead of cash because of the laws about taxation and employment in my country. The past two Christmases I've only been able to buy gifts for people because of my gift cards.
Well, I have found that if you have a cash app, and a working Instagram, you can very easily sell pictures of your feet (nothing sexual if you don't want to) showing the soles, and earn decent cash. Though sometimes it is a slow start finding the buyers.
Now seriously. Does anybody know good websites to find online work? As freelancer or employee.
