We all have moments when laziness takes over. Maybe we're known to leave the dishes to soak for one more day or even successfully postpone doing the laundry, too. But some people take laziness to whole new heights, showing that to them, there’s no such thing as a limit.

If you’re wondering what kind of laziness we’re talking about here, take a look at the list below to see for yourself. It showcases some of the worst (best?) cases of people being lazy, from not lifting a finger to clean up after themselves to instances of surprising ingenuity when they follow the ‘work smarter, not harder’ principle, so scroll down to browse the pictures, and use them as a reminder to not let laziness overtake you.

Yes, kids can be messy. I cleaned up after mine in restaurants and as soon as she was old enough, she cleaned up anything she accidentally dropped on the floor herself. Amazing how much neater we are when we clean up the aftermath ourselves.

Absolutely! I did my children the same. If they could walk, they could pick up their toys, throw their garbage in a waste bucket. And the thing is , babies and young kids love to emulate mom and dad. Best time to teach them.

I've seen worse. I've had to deal with dirty diapers because the CHANGED THE BABY AT THE TABLE. Don't mind the fact we had changing stations in both bathrooms, they did it at the table. And then they covered the dirty diaper in napkins hoping I wouldn't notice the "present" their crotch goblin left for me. So glad to be out of family dining.

I do not understand what is wrong with some people. And that’s not lazy - it’s entitled. I have a feeling most of this list will be about people who feel entitled.

The problem here is not that kids make a mess. That just happens sometimes with young children. The problem is that the parents see restaurant staff as their servants and/or just don't care about anybody around them. It's the same people who suck at parking.

I HATED tables/families like this when I was a server. No respect for the restaurant, the servers, or themselves for that matter. Just shameful. The ":that's what they get paid to do" mindset.

Yep! I’ve experienced it and seen it. If they said no tipping I would still tip. Been there, done that. I appreciate great service, especially when it’s busy at an unexpected time. And I hope the people who left that table/floor that way also left a big tip. Not likely.

Being lazy is a feeling no one is immune to. With no rhyme or reason, it can make us suddenly unable to lift out of our chairs to grab the remote and change the channel or fold the laundry that’s been calling our name from the dryer for two days straight.

But laziness, which often seems to strike us completely out of the blue, does not actually overtake us for no rhyme or reason. According to a licensed psychologist specializing in cognitive-behavioral therapy, Dr. Daniel Marston, laziness is linked to how "worthwhile" the action—that we might feel we’re too lazy to do—is in our minds.

Okay... Having worked for a major supermarket in the UK? Doing something such as this is the reason why prices go up. They have to throw out that perishable item that could cost £/$10 dollars. So... If, say, 20 people did that per day? That's £/$200 lost right there, £/$1400 a week... Do the maths. Then you've the other items surrounding the discarded meat item that has now tainted them. As in juices from the defrosting or warm meat coming into contact? Congratulations. Because you were too lazy to go take something back to the fridge or freezer? You've now ruined a whole load of supplies/stock. And you then wonder why prices go up at your local supermarket...

In a piece for Psychology Today, Dr. Martson pointed out that laziness is related to the level of motivation people feel regarding one task or another, and which behaviors they consider to be worth exerting energy for.

“It may very well be that ‘laziness’ is not the result of a specific personality trait but more that the situations itself do not present the person with sufficient motivation for exerting needed energy. These are the situations that do not cause the parts of the brain that start energy exertion to ‘kick in’,” the expert wrote.

(Now you have an excuse for the next time you're too lazy to do something – it’s not your fault; your brain simply didn’t think the task was worth the effort.)

Dr. Martson continued to point out that sometimes, when people are asked to do something, they might not think that ‘something’ is worthwhile. Consequently, they might be deemed lazy by others, to whom the same task would not be a big deal, hence they wouldn’t be too “lazy” to do it.

“If there is no direct connection between doing something and the importance of doing it, then it becomes less likely that a person will do it,” Martson noted, adding that individuals who do not see any benefit to what they are being told to do are often the ones most likely to be considered “lazy."

Unless it's loose leaf tea, I can't see why it'd be more than a two minute switch (notice the original tea jar is smaller). Maybe more tea is consumed, so wanted the bigger jar?

Bearing in mind that it usually means avoiding things we don’t feel like doing, moments of laziness are often viewed quite positively by many. A survey carried out by the furniture manufacturer La-Z-Boy found that close to nine in ten respondents believed that being lazy is a form of self-care.

In addition to that, nearly every single one of the respondents (98%) agreed that being lazy can have a positive effect on one’s well-being, with reduced stress and improved mental health being the main benefits.

While there are clear benefits to being lazy every once in a while, “everything in moderation” is a known phrase for a reason. The positive effects of being a couch potato sometimes shouldn’t be used as an excuse to stop doing or caring for your tasks. The pictures on this list clearly show that people being lazy can make others’ lives needlessly difficult or cause situations that are simply annoying (and sometimes even unsanitary—ugh).

It depends on the country? In India, this is the norm, it's just wrappers and napkins on the table, nothing spilling on seats or ground, just left on the table where you ate. You don't clean your table in India, it will be more hassle for the staff if you try to find correct dustbins and put things away. In Japan, you always clean your table, at least in all chains and sort your garbage as well. So, it really depends on the country. And you don't tip in most Asian countries. Looking at people around you and following the norm is the thing.

In addition to being annoying, laziness can be expensive, too. Forbes delved deeper into all the ways that laziness can negatively affect us and our wallets and found that being too lazy to do a quick Google search, for instance, can cost them thousands of dollars. That happens when people don’t put in the effort to look for the best rate for a savings account.

According to banking expert Justin Pritchard, people are creatures of habit. "If their money is somewhere, and they're busy doing other things, they don't necessarily try to do better,” he told Forbes.

Like those high loads that the driver thinks will fit under the tunnel entrances? We get those in Sydney all the time most arr drivers who can't speak English and are new here as well..They want to work but have no idea of the road rules or legitimate licences and are employed by those who do everything to cut costs or even service their trucks Our country never used to have so much trouble like this or violence brought by many seeking a new life living their known customs that are counter-productive to the Australian ways. Perhaps not enough research on who will offer a decent lifestyle here and abide by our laws, not theirs.

Had someone do this with a moped to my business once. Fortunately there was a firehouse right down the street and I knew them. They came and cut the lock and carried the moped to the curb. Idiot owner shows up later and has a fit, demands that I pay to replace his very expensive lock. Calls the police when I won't. Police show up and tell him the same thing I did. Guy has such a fit they had to threaten to arrest him for disorderly before he gathers the sense to drive away. Idiot.

Another way laziness can be quite costly is the detrimental effect it has on our health, and consequently, our wallets, too. Forbes notes that many people fail to take advantage of corporate wellness incentives, for instance, which could help them save on personal expenses. In addition to that, it emphasizes that oversleeping—a pastime favored by many lazy people out there, including yours truly—can get expensive, too, due to the detrimental effects it can have on one’s health in the long run.

I used to do this occasionally, I admit. Before I got my new knee I couldn't get a blue badge and sometimes had to walk quite a distance from the van to the store. If I was doing a weekly shop it was all I could do. some days, to get my shopping done so, if a cart bay wasn't close, I would have to leave it. Never blocked a parking spot, though, especially handicapped. I often had to abandon the coin in it as well. Tip for whoever had to take it back in.

Another tbought...Since this is meant as a walking trail I'm pretty sure those bridges and trails were not built to hold that kind of weight. The amount of structural damage that can be done, especially to any support columns is extremely high. Once the car is removed they need to shutdown those walkways until they can be inspected for safety. The owner of that car should be financially liable for any and all damages, repairs and inspections that have to be made in order for those walkways to be structurally safe for use again.

Complain to USPS via their website. They will educate the carrier. We have to complain every couple of years when a new hire gets assigned to the route. It happens because on these USPS-owned posts, the whole front or back of the post opens for the carrier, and they have access to the full interior area of the box, but the recipient doors don’t expose all four edges (to prevent items from being slipped in or out without a key).

To get those boxes inside like that, you have to squeeze it and then push it in, so it expand past the edges at the front of the box, and lock itself in there.

    Lazy Gross Roommate (Slight Rant)

Messy living habits; dirty pads in bathroom, sink full of clothes, cluttered corner, disorganized fridge contents.

One of my roommates never does anything around here! Leaves a trash bag full of her trash on the floor while it’s leaking everywhere, she said the trash chute doesn’t fit it, so I told her there is a dumpster where the recycling is, which she would know if she ever took out her damn recycling!Leaves leftovers in the microwave for days, doesn’t take out her recycling, just randomly left a giant blob of hand towels soaking in the sink. My other roommate broke down and washed them herself. Her dog peed on my bath mat, I told her. What did she do?! Threw pee pads on it and LEFT.
Got crumbs all over the couch and didn’t even bother wiping them off. Took up all the space in the fridge, but got mad when me and my other roommate put a package of cookie dough in there and she said it was “so unorganized” because we had to set it on top of her food since there was no where else to put it.
Leaves her bedroom door open just to listen to videos on full volume all hours of the day. Her and this guy she’s with play music at like 2am in the kitchen. We tell them to quiet down and they just giggle like idiots. I’ve had some bad roommates, but this one really takes the cake

Unfortunately in the US it’s not that easy to kick them out. I moved in with a decent roommate. He bought a house and moved out. I couldn’t afford the house on my own so a male friend moved in. I didn’t expect he would be perfectly clean but peeing in pop cans and leaving fast food burgers and pizzas under his bed to rot…and the girl he moved in after 2 days of knowing that kept leaving the doors open to the outside that my 2 indoor cats and 1 dog should not have been able to go through. His excuse, she’s bipolar and has nowhere to go, cops said she has a duffel bag and had been there 2 days so she technically lived there so I was screwed.

I was riding through a neighborhood on my way home on my electric scooter and someone left broken plates all over the sidewalk. I didn’t see the small sharp shards of plates and ran over one and I suddenly fishtailed so I stopped and tried again thinking I leaned too far well I hadn’t, I again fishtailed and that’s when I noticed my back end was sitting really low. I took a look and a chunk went all the way through the tire. I was without my scooter for a few weeks while my dad ordered a new tire and everything else needed and then put it on. I was pretty mad when it happened. I mean they didn’t bother to clean up their broken c**p. I’m over it now but I thought I’d share my experience with laziness.

Look at the good stuff in the neighborhood. Sometimes you don't see it because someone cleaned it up, picked it up, or just treated the neighborhood nicely which doesn't leave anything for anyone to find sometimes.

57 Boxes Of Cancer Dialysis Solution Wasted

Pile of mismanaged boxes cluttering a driveway, embodying lazy-infuriating-people behavior.

I service a pool in this community and the past 3 weeks more boxes get piled up by the road. Some even got ran over. Tried knocking on the door the shipping label say but nobody is there. I'm 95% sure a pharma rep lives there and not a cancer patient based on the sheer number of boxes, but c'mon people are literally dying to get this stuff. To the ones who will say it's still good, hopefully most are still good. The ants have made the bottom boxes their food.

You are 100% wrong and I know this for a fact the company listed on the box delivers these boxes inside the home. This person is likely dead and the family is tossing it out because they are not allowed to return it once inside the home. It’s on the family to try and donate to the needy but in a time of grief who can blame them for tossing it out. There is a problem with the clinics who order because they are getting a kickback and they order way too much taking over patients homes and it’s often left up to the delivery drivers to cut the order and say enough is enough!

Unfortunately, due to regulations in the US (where this is happening) while it's legal to donate unused medical supplies, you would be very hard pressed to find a place willing to take them due to a host of ethical and safety concerns. Because of this, it's better to just toss or destroy it, as charities typically won't accept it (even if it's still sealed in the original box) from a private party and not the direct supplier.

First, it's not cancer medication. It's large bags of solution for peritoneal dialysis, which can be done at home. My grandmother used this stuff for years before she passed away. Secondly, these solutions are inexpensive medical supplies(mostly saline) and cannot be resold because of the possibilities of them being adulterated because there are psychos out there. Thirdly, they could have been expired, damaged, contaminated or the person who needed them could have died. You don't know.

A someone with a uterus, I've had a few times in my life when my menstrual cycle started unexpectedly/off-schedule while I was asleep in bed. But even then, it was just one spot and I would clean it immediately upon waking up and discovering that my lady bits had decided to revolt again. Seeing as OP refers to their housemate as "he", I imagine this is not menstrual blood; I cannot even fathom (and I do not WANT to fathom) what these stains might be and why they are so numerous. I shall simply pretend he was drinking coffee in bed and spilled his drink.

I was laid off from my job recently and moved back home (escaped a bad situation/abusive relationship.) I never realized before now how much food I wasted when I'd toss a container like this before. There's not a LOT of butter/cream cheese left, true, but like you said, it's enough for toast/a sandwich/a bagel. I'd get a butter knife and scrape every last bit out, nowadays; food is too expensive and I don't have an income at the moment XD However, I can see how this could be infuriating to one's partner/roommate/family. They should let everyone else know if they are planning on using up the last bit of the food later on. Of course, if they weren't going to scrape out every last bit, then they're just a lazy git who needed to just bin this container XD

How My Neighbors “Prune” The City Owned Street Trees Outside Their Houses… How It Should Look vs. How He Did It

Bold of you to assume that he did this himself. Look at the trimmed tree. Notice the various knots and bulbs around the trunk near the top? That's from pollarding. It's a kind of trimming process that actually doesn't hurt the tree and helps it grow. It's also a process that cities use quite often as it helps keep trees that are growing to the point of encroaching on areas, back to the proper intended size. I'm willing to bet the guy called the city about it, and this was what their city trimmers did.

If you look closely at the trimmed trees, you can see previous bulbs on the short limbs. Those bulbs come from a tree trimming method called pollarding. The tree will be fine. Looks wonky now, but it'll grow back bushier than ever.

We need to know what he was doing prior to entering the pool. I've been so tired and hot (lived in FL) that I'd plunge into the pool fully dressed. Probably not with long pants on, it is FL. It was our pool, and I helped maintain it so it wasn't a big deal.

I would say this was entirely deliberate. By leaving the cement wrapped, it sets as a block and can be removed easily when the road is properly resurfaced. It settles to the shape of the hole and will not rock about when driven over. If you emptied the cement out of the bag into the hole whomever does the resurfacing would not be a happy bunny!

This is clearly a temp solution to avoid damage/ injury hazard. That's why there is a cone there. Because people are overreacting and tend to embellish they usually don't send a whole asphalt crew out on the initial report. Someone goes to assess. The assessment person is making an attempt to make the pot hole less of a hazard while pending a full repair.

Just make an effort to put an ovendish filled with hot water in it every week or so , and set the oven to half an hour medium temperature. After that most of the dirt is gone and you only have to wipe. This way also you don't have to use detergents or fatremovers, or whatever, in your oven.

Several years ago, some colleagues were awful at leaving their dirty dishes in the kitchen for days, expecting someone else to wash them. I put up a sign saying dirty dishes left overnight would be disposed of and made good on it - threw away a fair number of plates, mugs, and cutlery before they got the message. I dislike binning perfectly functional things but no amount of them being told to do their dishes worked.

That's nothing! Here in Southern California where I live, some of our highways have EIGHT lanes XD Many decades ago, one of my online friends visited from Ohio. They were shocked at how large our highways/freeways are here in SoCal! XD We have pretty minimal/crappy public transportation here, so everyone goes everywhere by car. :(

Oh god, I worked at Sam's for YEARS and what was even worse was people throwing s**t behind pallets. Especially, in Hardlines which is where you have all of the larger or non-food items. You wouldn't know until it starts to smell and then it was playing "Where's Waldo?" trying to figure out where it was coming from. Sam's Club and Costco are really bad, because you have to pay for a Membership so Members/Customers thinks they are entitled to pull s**t like that and treat Associates/Employees like dogshit. I've got stories like you would not believe that those f*****g customers have pulled and done to us.

Maybe I’m Overreacting. Idk. It’s Been Hanging Like This For Days (Southern Maine)

Leaning utility pole with damaged wires on a clear day, showcasing lazy-infuriating-people's neglect of maintenance.

I moved to this small-ish southern Maine town in 2020 and this is the 3rd time I’ve seen a pole left dangling like this. The first time it was left for over a month. It just seems incredibly dangerous. I’m no electrician, so maybe I’m wrong. Maybe people who know more than me can chime in. I’m from Phoenix AZ & I have never in my life seen an electric pole just left to dangle like this. Is this a New England thing? Or is my town just lazy af?

I'm pretty sure this is due to bureaucratic red tape. The part that public works legally must leave for the electric/phone/cable/internet company is what's shown here. I know in my US town the poles are still owned by the telephone company that installed them.

The strand can actually support the entire weight of every pole on a run minus the braced support poles at the end. Its fairly safe unless that piece of pole isn't attached well. Its less common in Phoenix (where I work on aerial utilities) because of it being so dry our poles don't rot out as often but it does happen. Probably don't have a huge crew for pole replacement and need a crane to get it off because a bucket truck won't support that much weight. Its less priority than you might think since it's extremely unlikely to fall.

    Lew k

11 months ago Created by potrace 1.15, written by Peter Selinger 2001-2017

Most cities won't install new aerial utilities but it's extremely expensive and a huge bureaucratic nightmare to transfer stuff to underground. Utility poles are part of initial city planning and the right away for them is actually in each individual home contact. Moving them to underground requires the city to plan a new Utility easement then the looks like 4-5 companies that are using that pole all have to trench to install new plant and all of the homes there need to be converted from aerial delivery to underground so a conduit for each Utility run to every home. Your talking millions of dollars, months of work and lots of service outages. Sounds simple but we just converted one section of overhead utilities to underground because a road is being widened. It was a nightmare. We're still dealing with the fallout 2 months later.

Top bare wires are high voltage attached to intact pole. Low voltage cable hitting the street lights seems to be attached to the intact pole. Everything on the broken pole is communication cables. The only danger is from falling debris. Still lazy, tho.

I have a gigantic Volkswagen Eurovan. I've had it for 23 years and I am quite skilled at maneuvering it. I feel fairly confident that, just from looking at this photo, I could fit my van in the spot to the left of this vehicle. Of course, I'd have to park VERY close to the Chevrolet's driver's side door in order to fit. Very unfortunate. The Chevy's driver probably could not get into their car via their driver's side door. MOST unfortunate. And if they felt any (quite misplaced) anger towards me for this situation, my van is so beat-up (it's 23 years old!) that they are welcome to try and ding it up and scratch it in rage. My old beast is pretty impervious ;)

Yes, but criminal damage is wrong. This, however, is not criminal damage: https://tyreextinguishers.com/how-to-deflate-an-suv-tyre "Unscrew the cap on the tire valve." "To get the air out of the tyre, there must be something pushing down on the pin located in the center of the valve. Drop a small bean (we like green lentils, but you can experiment with couscous, bits of gravel, etc) inside the valve cap. Replace the cap, screwing it on with a few turns until you hear air hissing out. Even if it’s only hissing out a little bit, that’s enough - it will deflate slowly. The whole process should take about 10 seconds."

Most people don't push their chairs back in and that's weird. I spend so much time at work following people around pushing chairs in.

Me too. I have an extra desk in my office for visitiors to use, had to place a 'Push in your chair' sign, they still didn't bother so I removed the chair..

This isn’t a big deal. And these chairs can be heavy, I struggle with pushing them on carpet sometimes.

Well, yes. It's a service that's paid for. Those look like standard UK milk bottles. I can't get my head round a milkman *not* putting the bottles in the receptable provided - I mean, they drive to your house, pick up the milk, walk to your door, put the bottles down, pick up the empty bottles, etc. Why on Earth not just do the sensible thing?

When I was a child in the 1980s, we still had milk/orange juice delivery service that would deliver your order to your door in the mornings! (I live in Southern California.) It is long gone now, but I do fondly remember waking up at the crack of dawn to run to the front door to grab the milk, OJ, and eggs.

Have alittle bowl by the kettle/pan, and dump it in that. Later, when cooled, snip the string and label off and you have a great compost for seedlings. Or get proper Brit T bags and no snipping involved.

There's a reason for this one! If you have a bin with a lid and throw the teabag in when it's still hot, it causes condensation on the underside of the lid and the heat promotes mold growth so it makes your bin gross! Best to let it cool and dry a bit in the sink first.

Yes! It is a bad idea to throw wet garbage into the bin, especially lidded bins. This sounds gross but that's why, when I brush out my hair in the shower, I roll my shed hair into a hairball (literally) and leave it on the shelf in the shower to dry. I don't throw it into the trash can right after I shower, because it's wet organic matter. Of course, I'm the only human who lives in my home, so it's no huhu, but if I lived with other people I'd probably try to put my hairballs (or tea bags) at least off to one side so other people didn't have to deal with them.

Uugh. I HATE it when people do this, or leave them on the counter next to the sink. Even if they put them on a saucer, I mean WHY, FFS, Why can't you just throw them in the bin?. It seems soo common, especially among Brits who drink like ten cups a day,

How it's supposed to be: there doesn't need to be a continuos weld there, and attempting it would probably buckle the sheet metal of the stairs. This is a manufactured building fixture, and the welding was probably done by a CNC welder.
