“I Thought I Was Lazy”: 50 People Who Took Laziness To Infuriating Levels (New Pics)
We all have moments when laziness takes over. Maybe we're known to leave the dishes to soak for one more day or even successfully postpone doing the laundry, too. But some people take laziness to whole new heights, showing that to them, there’s no such thing as a limit.
If you’re wondering what kind of laziness we’re talking about here, take a look at the list below to see for yourself. It showcases some of the worst (best?) cases of people being lazy, from not lifting a finger to clean up after themselves to instances of surprising ingenuity when they follow the ‘work smarter, not harder’ principle, so scroll down to browse the pictures, and use them as a reminder to not let laziness overtake you.

If You’re A Parent And Let Your Kids Make A Mess Like This Then You’re A Piece Of Sh**
Yes, kids can be messy. I cleaned up after mine in restaurants and as soon as she was old enough, she cleaned up anything she accidentally dropped on the floor herself. Amazing how much neater we are when we clean up the aftermath ourselves.
Absolutely! I did my children the same. If they could walk, they could pick up their toys, throw their garbage in a waste bucket. And the thing is , babies and young kids love to emulate mom and dad. Best time to teach them.
Load More Replies...I've seen worse. I've had to deal with dirty diapers because the CHANGED THE BABY AT THE TABLE. Don't mind the fact we had changing stations in both bathrooms, they did it at the table. And then they covered the dirty diaper in napkins hoping I wouldn't notice the "present" their crotch goblin left for me. So glad to be out of family dining.
I do not understand what is wrong with some people. And that’s not lazy - it’s entitled. I have a feeling most of this list will be about people who feel entitled.
Load More Replies...I HATED tables/families like this when I was a server. No respect for the restaurant, the servers, or themselves for that matter. Just shameful. The ":that's what they get paid to do" mindset.
I used to work in hospitality. This is a fairly contained mess.
That's awful. This is why tips are necessary sometimes. Servers get treated like slaves sometimes.
Yep! I’ve experienced it and seen it. If they said no tipping I would still tip. Been there, done that. I appreciate great service, especially when it’s busy at an unexpected time. And I hope the people who left that table/floor that way also left a big tip. Not likely.

They're not raising kids. They're ignoring the feral animals they created.
The normal human being with a basic sense of decency in me is hyperventilating.
Load More Replies...People Who Constantly Block The Isles Of Stores To Stand Around And Chat
When you say "excuse me" to request being allowed past, and they decide that *you're* rude...
I've made the determination within myself that the next time I encounter this during grocery shopping, I am just going to walk right up to the aisle-blockers, stand uncomfortably close, and listen in to their conversation, nodding along and making eye contact, until I unnerve them XD
Load More Replies...Ugh yes!!!! I kinda snapped a couple days ago on a lady. Normally I wouldn't but it was busy and people being rude but this lady had her cart horizontal in the isle so she could watch tiktok and when people tried getting around her she'd either ignore and roll her eyes or scoff and then I came along and I took the cart and rolled it away down the isle 🤷♀️ alot of people laughed and said thank you lol but ugh I'm so sick of people acting inconsiderate and just plain jerks
I didn't want to be First Pedant again. Thank you for taking one for the team.
Load More Replies...This behavior drives me to the brink. As Phantom Phoenix mentioned, I say "excuse me", am ignored as I repeat it, then catch dirty looks as I make my way around them. If they only knew how close I come to ramming them into oblivion.
Professional a$$hats. I'm a disabled veteran wih a lower left leg prosthetic and due to complications from my advanced age, can only stand/walk 15 minutes in a 60 minute period. Trying to get a weeks shopping done in a wal mart is a logistics and route planning nightmare when you have to deal with idiots that think a supermarket is a social club.
Being lazy is a feeling no one is immune to. With no rhyme or reason, it can make us suddenly unable to lift out of our chairs to grab the remote and change the channel or fold the laundry that’s been calling our name from the dryer for two days straight.
But laziness, which often seems to strike us completely out of the blue, does not actually overtake us for no rhyme or reason. According to a licensed psychologist specializing in cognitive-behavioral therapy, Dr. Daniel Marston, laziness is linked to how "worthwhile" the action—that we might feel we’re too lazy to do—is in our minds.
People Who Leave Perishable Food In Store Shelves
If you pick up a item and you don't want it, return it to where you got it. Don't leave it on a shelf where it doesn't belong.
I absolutely HATE this! There have been times I found food like that and managed to put it back in the right place before the food warmed up to room temperature or bought it myself to save someone from food illnesses!
Or fresh food in freezers or non-perishables in freezers. Lazy and selfish
These are the "I'M TOO LAZY," or "LET SOMEONE ELSE DO IT" "things" that occupy the planet. And I totally blame their parents who are also "things" who taught them it's okay to be this way.
Okay... Having worked for a major supermarket in the UK? Doing something such as this is the reason why prices go up. They have to throw out that perishable item that could cost £/$10 dollars. So... If, say, 20 people did that per day? That's £/$200 lost right there, £/$1400 a week... Do the maths. Then you've the other items surrounding the discarded meat item that has now tainted them. As in juices from the defrosting or warm meat coming into contact? Congratulations. Because you were too lazy to go take something back to the fridge or freezer? You've now ruined a whole load of supplies/stock. And you then wonder why prices go up at your local supermarket...
My Mom And I Went To Berlington For Shoes And Found Out That Nobody Cares About Human Decency There
My wise older brother suggested that I not expect much from Facebook, the Internet, or people in general.
Load More Replies...Remember being in Primark in UK and seeing people literally throwing the wrong sizes over their shoulder as they routed through a nicely folded pile of clothes looking for the one they wanted. Un-effing-believable until you see it yourself.
I'm not excusing this behaviour, but this place, like most retailers, probably has the bare minimum of staff working, to cut labour costs. Couple that with rightfully apathetic staff, too underpaid and over-worked to care anymore, and you get this mess.
That doesn't excuse them, they need to return the shoes to the rack they picked them up at. That conduct is absurd.
Load More Replies...I was the manager of the shoe section at Target for a few years and then a store manager at Famous Footwear for even longer. They BOTH looked like this at the end of big rushes of people. People also steal shoes like crazy. Two of the worst jobs I've had just solely for the customers.
I remember way back when I actually enjoyed shopping there.
Load More Replies...In a piece for Psychology Today, Dr. Martson pointed out that laziness is related to the level of motivation people feel regarding one task or another, and which behaviors they consider to be worth exerting energy for.
“It may very well be that ‘laziness’ is not the result of a specific personality trait but more that the situations itself do not present the person with sufficient motivation for exerting needed energy. These are the situations that do not cause the parts of the brain that start energy exertion to ‘kick in’,” the expert wrote.
(Now you have an excuse for the next time you're too lazy to do something – it’s not your fault; your brain simply didn’t think the task was worth the effort.)
My Parents Are The Reason Why I Hate Smoking
My parents just almost never clean their stuff. Its kinda disgusting ngl. It has been worse before though.
I’ve gone down with my smoking and only have like three a day now, but I do NOT smoke in my house, and my porch ashtray is emptied often. Can you imagine how this smells??
Load More Replies...Suprised they didnt manage to burn the house down, also, i can smell this picture
Right?! The butts look inordinately large in comparison to the cabinet!

My Dad Hung Up A Photo
This one doesn't count. This is a joke. The OP clearly did get her dad's humor or intelligence.
I think he did that on purpose as it makes it look like the leaning tower is no longer leaning!
Landlord Hired A Guy To Power Wash The Stairs
If his aim is this bad I would hate to see the state his toilet must be in.
Could, at least, have left some interesting doodles or swear words to amuse passers by.
Someone needs to used a different nozzle, or get a more powerful pressure washer.
Dr. Martson continued to point out that sometimes, when people are asked to do something, they might not think that ‘something’ is worthwhile. Consequently, they might be deemed lazy by others, to whom the same task would not be a big deal, hence they wouldn’t be too “lazy” to do it.
“If there is no direct connection between doing something and the importance of doing it, then it becomes less likely that a person will do it,” Martson noted, adding that individuals who do not see any benefit to what they are being told to do are often the ones most likely to be considered “lazy."
Why Are Loud Video/Speaker Phone Calls Now A Spectator Sport In Public?
Saw someone doing this on the bus, seemingly talking to their family back in India. When I realised I could see myself in the background, I waved. That got me a laugh!

I Mean You Did Buy A Ticket But…
They should be banned from flying with the airline forever. Or at least get a warning. if we continue to allow people to behave like this, they will never change. The disrespect is phenomenal.
When you bring it to their attention they either claim that they bought a ticket, so… Or, it’s housekeeping’s job to clean up; “That’s what they’re paid to do.”
Load More Replies...When we were kids and flew back east, we always wore our best clothes, and we're on our best behavior. Now people go with bedroom slippers on ,half undressed, filthy kids and people diapers left in the aisle. It was a totally different crowd flying.
Parents want to be friends with their kids nowadays. Seems the majority of kids aren't raised to be respectful anymore. Prolly cuz of disrespectful parents like the ones who sat in these seats. How far back does it go now, when manners started being unimportant?

Or mom has a sense of humor and this makes her smile whenever she goes to get some coffee or tea XD
Load More Replies...Annoying enough already, but writing in capitals on one container and not the other? Should be arrested.
I'm fairly certain your mom did this because the contents were not coffee and tea, they were tea and coffee.
It might be due to the seals, tea doesn't need an air tight seal, but instant coffee clumps if it gets damp.
Bearing in mind that it usually means avoiding things we don’t feel like doing, moments of laziness are often viewed quite positively by many. A survey carried out by the furniture manufacturer La-Z-Boy found that close to nine in ten respondents believed that being lazy is a form of self-care.
In addition to that, nearly every single one of the respondents (98%) agreed that being lazy can have a positive effect on one’s well-being, with reduced stress and improved mental health being the main benefits.
This Might Be The Most Lazy Person I’ve Seen
It’s called a snow broom and is only about 20 bucks. Takes just a couple minutes to broom off your car with that silly orange thing (not trump) and be safely on your way. We do the neighbors cars.
"I don't need to do all the work of cleaning off the snow, I'll just get on the freeway and drive really fast. Sure, it'll all blow off into the faces of other people on the road, but that's not *my* problem, is it?" ( The thought process of all too many people I see on the road every time it snows around where I live. )
Also, that snow can fly off once you start going and hit the person behind you
Load More Replies...I live in Buffalo, NY where we get snow like this. People do this all the time. I think it should be illegal if it's not.
I'm pretty sure it's illegal in New York State. I'm no Buffalonian, but I lived in NYS for many years.

Management is taking their sweet time doing anything about these guys.
I knew someone who did this. I would meticulously pile it in front of their door, taking the time to tie it to the door k**b and the knocker around the peephole. I also stretched one of the plastic tie strings to the stair rail. When they opened the door, THEIR stinky garbage literally exploded INTO their apartment. After that, they always took the bags to dumpster!! This is why I absolutely HATE apartments!!
Pick them up (I know, ewwww, but just do it) and put them back outside their door. Like right IN FRONT of the door.
Stack em up propped against the door so when they go to open their door it all falls inside

You Shouldn’t Shop If You Can’t Return Your Carts In Designated Areas And Leave It Near Disabled Parking
I am disabled and I leave my cart at the front of the disabled parking because there's no cart return close. If I could walk to the cart return, I wouldn't need to park in handicapped.
They really should put cart returns near the disabled parking
Load More Replies...This is a huge pet peeve of mine. I hate people that are either 2 stupid or 2 lazy to put the carts in the rack. Even worse if it's the electric carts and it's raining. If you physically can't take the electric carts back inside is one thing but laziness is something completely different.
There's a video of a senior citizen returning a cart in the rain that's being considered a hurricane. Ever since I saw this video, I've set myself on continuing to do the same no matter the weather. I even look around to see if anyone needs one before I go further. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQ86h8Iya8A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6IT8Mt4fYr8
I walk with a cane and sometimes look for a parking space with a cart next to it because I need the extra support of the cart. I sometimes leave my cart next to the parking space tor the same reason.
While there are clear benefits to being lazy every once in a while, “everything in moderation” is a known phrase for a reason. The positive effects of being a couch potato sometimes shouldn’t be used as an excuse to stop doing or caring for your tasks. The pictures on this list clearly show that people being lazy can make others’ lives needlessly difficult or cause situations that are simply annoying (and sometimes even unsanitary—ugh).
If You Do This, Screw You. Walk Back To The Cooler
Outside of the USA this wouldn't be a chiller issue. Inconvenient for supermarket employees yes but we don't refrigerate eggs.
These ppl would probably also leave a raw steak out though.
Load More Replies...Or keep it with you until you get to the register and give it to the cashier saying you changed your mind.
The other week some lady dumped 4 items she changed her mind about on the display next to the cashier instead of just giving them to him to put away (luckily non-perishable but still). I grabbed them and loudly said "could you have these put away? Someone left them sitting on the display next to your till" while she was packing her bags up before she left. I guess I should have just said something to her... but I am passive.
Load More Replies...Or just leave it with the cashier. They have people to put things back.

Is It So Hard To Throw It In The Trash?
it's not even lazy anymore
Again, I suspect they put it down to check their phone or something and then forgot it was there.
That still shows a lack of care. That is no excuse for leaving your trash somewhere.
Load More Replies...Truthfully, if the OP hadn't circled the rubbish bin, I would have been clueless. They probably never saw it!
Then they should have taken their d*mn garbage with them.
Load More Replies...YES, it IS too hard to throw it in the trash. "LET SOMEONE ELSE DO IT."
I saw a lady standing at the bus stop besides the trash can, wiped her nose, slowly let her arm sink and just dropped the tissue on the ground. I screamed at her very loud if she does this at home, too. She panicked, picked up the tissue, dropped it into the trash and ran away. Sometimes I'm a bully.
Yes, it obvioulsy is, or maybe this person is blind and totally unable to walk. I doubt it though.
If You Leave Your Mess Like This - You’re Trash
It depends on the country? In India, this is the norm, it's just wrappers and napkins on the table, nothing spilling on seats or ground, just left on the table where you ate. You don't clean your table in India, it will be more hassle for the staff if you try to find correct dustbins and put things away. In Japan, you always clean your table, at least in all chains and sort your garbage as well. So, it really depends on the country. And you don't tip in most Asian countries. Looking at people around you and following the norm is the thing.
I realize not everyone cleans their table and compiles everything (like I do) for the server, but I'm not seeing how this is so bad. Looks pretty standard-job-description clean-up if you ask me
These people left it like the McDonald's worker, that has to clean up after them, is making $20/hr. Where's the tip
In addition to being annoying, laziness can be expensive, too. Forbes delved deeper into all the ways that laziness can negatively affect us and our wallets and found that being too lazy to do a quick Google search, for instance, can cost them thousands of dollars. That happens when people don’t put in the effort to look for the best rate for a savings account.
According to banking expert Justin Pritchard, people are creatures of habit. "If their money is somewhere, and they're busy doing other things, they don't necessarily try to do better,” he told Forbes.
This Guy Ignored No Entry Sing And Drove On Wooden Pier, Because He Was Too Lazy To Carry Stuff On His Dolly. Pier Has To Be Closed For Structural Inspection
No entry SIGN is what that's meant to say. I hope the driver is charged and ends up with some serious fines!
Fines, and a bill for the inspection, and repairing the damage identified by the inspection.
Load More Replies...In the U.S. there are very VERY steep fines for stupidity like this (like the Nissan SUV one above).
Like those high loads that the driver thinks will fit under the tunnel entrances? We get those in Sydney all the time most arr drivers who can't speak English and are new here as well..They want to work but have no idea of the road rules or legitimate licences and are employed by those who do everything to cut costs or even service their trucks Our country never used to have so much trouble like this or violence brought by many seeking a new life living their known customs that are counter-productive to the Australian ways. Perhaps not enough research on who will offer a decent lifestyle here and abide by our laws, not theirs.

Load More Replies...Had someone do this with a moped to my business once. Fortunately there was a firehouse right down the street and I knew them. Break out the Oxy/Ace torch, cut the bike in half and leave the lock. problem solved. 😂
What can you do? Call the police to remove it, nope, remove it yourself, nope, get a tradesperson to cut the cable take the bike inside and claim. parking fees for its return, yes.'

Another way laziness can be quite costly is the detrimental effect it has on our health, and consequently, our wallets, too. Forbes notes that many people fail to take advantage of corporate wellness incentives, for instance, which could help them save on personal expenses. In addition to that, it emphasizes that oversleeping—a pastime favored by many lazy people out there, including yours truly—can get expensive, too, due to the detrimental effects it can have on one’s health in the long run.
I Collect Carts At Walmart. Please Stop Being Lazy And Return Your Cart To Where It Belongs
you really need to make coin/token operated trolley more common there...
We have them at Aldi's here in the US... but of course that is a German company. To all those saying it wouldn't work, it actually works great here and at all the Aldi's I've visited, there were no stray carts in the lot.
Load More Replies...It infuriates me when people do this and block parking spots with them too.
This pack of carts appear to be grazing rather than hunting, there is an adolescent cart to the right, and in the lower left, two carts are copulating.
The fact you have "Cart collectors" is not helping at all. You literally employed someone to do it so why would people bring them back? There is 0 Incentive
If everyone pit their carts in the proper place, that kid would get laid off. Who's the winner?
I used to do this occasionally, I admit. Before I got my new knee I couldn't get a blue badge and sometimes had to walk quite a distance from the van to the store. If I was doing a weekly shop it was all I could do. some days, to get my shopping done so, if a cart bay wasn't close, I would have to leave it. Never blocked a parking spot, though, especially handicapped. I often had to abandon the coin in it as well. Tip for whoever had to take it back in.
While I don't agree with people leaving carts all over the place, these complaints from employees not wanting to do what they are getting paid for needs to stop...
This is why coin operated trolleys were introduced! Lazy, selfish people.
Someone In Denver Blocked The Platte River Trail Today With Their Car
That's a great idea! Whoever did that deserves to get their car walked all over. What kind of jackass drives on a walking trail??
Load More Replies...Better question is why? Did they blindly follow google maps while it was on walking setting ? Did they do it on purpose ?
Load More Replies...Another tbought...Since this is meant as a walking trail I'm pretty sure those bridges and trails were not built to hold that kind of weight. The amount of structural damage that can be done, especially to any support columns is extremely high. Once the car is removed they need to shutdown those walkways until they can be inspected for safety. The owner of that car should be financially liable for any and all damages, repairs and inspections that have to be made in order for those walkways to be structurally safe for use again.
Pretty sure they were joyriding a stolen car and this is where they finally abandoned it.
Dear Mailman, Don’t Do Me Like This Again
My package was too big to fit out of the front of the mailbox, but apparently it fit through the back. I had to just open it while it was still in there.
I have the opposite problem. Packages that would easily fit in my box are left on the ground instead.
Agree. We came home from work one day last week to find that our mail carrier left the expensive Christmas
Load More Replies...Complain to USPS via their website. They will educate the carrier. We have to complain every couple of years when a new hire gets assigned to the route. It happens because on these USPS-owned posts, the whole front or back of the post opens for the carrier, and they have access to the full interior area of the box, but the recipient doors don’t expose all four edges (to prevent items from being slipped in or out without a key).
Some of these are a mixture of lazy and stupid, this is an example of the meaning of pure stupidity
If you feel like this list gave you the motivation boost you’ve needed to not be too lazy to do something, go on and do it! Do it now! We believe in you!
If it didn’t, and you want to make yourself feel better about being a little lazy, take a look at this list of people admitting just how lazy they are—or at this one of people taking laziness to another level—both of which might make you feel better.

One of my roommates never does anything around here! Leaves a trash bag full of her trash on the floor while it’s leaking everywhere, she said the trash chute doesn’t fit it, so I told her there is a dumpster where the recycling is, which she would know if she ever took out her damn recycling!Leaves leftovers in the microwave for days, doesn’t take out her recycling, just randomly left a giant blob of hand towels soaking in the sink. My other roommate broke down and washed them herself. Her dog peed on my bath mat, I told her. What did she do?! Threw pee pads on it and LEFT.
Got crumbs all over the couch and didn’t even bother wiping them off. Took up all the space in the fridge, but got mad when me and my other roommate put a package of cookie dough in there and she said it was “so unorganized” because we had to set it on top of her food since there was no where else to put it.
Leaves her bedroom door open just to listen to videos on full volume all hours of the day. Her and this guy she’s with play music at like 2am in the kitchen. We tell them to quiet down and they just giggle like idiots. I’ve had some bad roommates, but this one really takes the cake
Why the fudge is she still a roommate?? I dunno what was the worst of any of that, just pure horror
Unfortunately in the US it’s not that easy to kick them out. I moved in with a decent roommate. He bought a house and moved out. I couldn’t afford the house on my own so a male friend moved in. I didn’t expect he would be perfectly clean but peeing in pop cans and leaving fast food burgers and pizzas under his bed to rot…and the girl he moved in after 2 days of knowing that kept leaving the doors open to the outside that my 2 indoor cats and 1 dog should not have been able to go through. His excuse, she’s bipolar and has nowhere to go, cops said she has a duffel bag and had been there 2 days so she technically lived there so I was screwed.

I once lived in an apartment complex where someone dragged out their dryer and set it and the clothes in it on fire.
I was riding through a neighborhood on my way home on my electric scooter and someone left broken plates all over the sidewalk. I didn’t see the small sharp shards of plates and ran over one and I suddenly fishtailed so I stopped and tried again thinking I leaned too far well I hadn’t, I again fishtailed and that’s when I noticed my back end was sitting really low. I took a look and a chunk went all the way through the tire. I was without my scooter for a few weeks while my dad ordered a new tire and everything else needed and then put it on. I was pretty mad when it happened. I mean they didn’t bother to clean up their broken c**p. I’m over it now but I thought I’d share my experience with laziness.
Lazy Mofos Who Don't Put Weights Back
Saw a BP post one time that addressed this issue in their gym with a sign--something to the effect of 'if you are having trouble returning your weights to the rack, please ask for assistance and one of the ladies up front will be happy to help' - gotta love it!
Also bad to be a "he-man" and throw down the heavy weights. Gym motto: If you can't put it down, don't pick it up!
This is true at any gym. I am in a HUGE gym and these are all over the place. My trainer, and other trainers, are constantly putting thing back but the worst is when some A*****E left a barbell in a walkway, I tripped over it and ended up with a shoulder replacement.

To the ones who will say it's still good, hopefully most are still good. The ants have made the bottom boxes their food.
This should be criminal. If someone dies because they didn't get their medication, the person responsible should be charged with negligent homicide.
You'll have to know the driver knew what he was deliver and if there were special instructions, Doesn't look like there were any. The company should think again saving money by delivery through Amazon. Who is in charge of logistics?
Load More Replies...Mail piling up is never a good sign. If nobody was home, this person could be sick, dead, having a family emergency ... just contact the sender if you want to do something useful.
Or the local police to do a wellness check. This would clearly warrant one.
Load More Replies...You are 100% wrong and I know this for a fact the company listed on the box delivers these boxes inside the home. This person is likely dead and the family is tossing it out because they are not allowed to return it once inside the home. It’s on the family to try and donate to the needy but in a time of grief who can blame them for tossing it out. There is a problem with the clinics who order because they are getting a kickback and they order way too much taking over patients homes and it’s often left up to the delivery drivers to cut the order and say enough is enough!
Unfortunately, due to regulations in the US (where this is happening) while it's legal to donate unused medical supplies, you would be very hard pressed to find a place willing to take them due to a host of ethical and safety concerns. Because of this, it's better to just toss or destroy it, as charities typically won't accept it (even if it's still sealed in the original box) from a private party and not the direct supplier.
Load More Replies...Baxter is definitely a medical supply Co and this should be sent to the reps office not home!
Palm trees mean heat to me. I wouldn't want anyone to use this now. I'd contact the owner of the property, point out that if they are piling this outside what does it look like inside.
First, it's not cancer medication. It's large bags of solution for peritoneal dialysis, which can be done at home. My grandmother used this stuff for years before she passed away. Secondly, these solutions are inexpensive medical supplies(mostly saline) and cannot be resold because of the possibilities of them being adulterated because there are psychos out there. Thirdly, they could have been expired, damaged, contaminated or the person who needed them could have died. You don't know.
People Leaving The Theatre And Leaving Their Rubbish When There’s Empty Bins On The Way Out
They make announcements in our local cinema to leave your rubbish by your seat. Not sure why but they don’t like you taking it out yourself. Possibly because everything has to be recycled correctly and they can’t trust people to put them in the right bins.
Possibly due to the leftover soda/liquids being dumped into trash bags that can't handle the weight and liquids without breaking. Makes a huge mess.
Load More Replies...Having worked in an Anerican theater, just leave the stuff. People are going to spill popcorn, so we have to go through every row anyway, and I'll take the mess at the seats over having to go through and re-sort the bins any day. Same with a sporting event. How My Neighbors “Prune” The City Owned Street Trees Outside Their Houses… How It Should Look vs. How He Did It
First three photos show some of my neighbors handwork. The last picture shows what the trees are supposed to look like. I don’t understand how multiple people on one street can feel compelled to psychotically destroy trees like this. They don’t even own the trees!
I'm assuming that the poster is complaining about the right-hand picture, but it looks like this is an attempt at "pollarding". https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pollarding
Or else they weren't allowed to cut the tree down so they did this instead.
Load More Replies...This is how some trees are meant to be trimmed, it's called Pollarding
Unless it’s interfering with power lines why cut it back that much? Unless you are trying to keep it that small. I guess some of us like to watch our trees grow big!
Load More Replies...Call the city. Most will make him pay for a new one. I was in traffic court once and this guys defence for hitting a tree that he felt he shouldn't pay to replace - because he didn't know how to drive a manual transmission car.
Bold of you to assume that he did this himself. Look at the trimmed tree. Notice the various knots and bulbs around the trunk near the top? That's from pollarding. It's a kind of trimming process that actually doesn't hurt the tree and helps it grow. It's also a process that cities use quite often as it helps keep trees that are growing to the point of encroaching on areas, back to the proper intended size. I'm willing to bet the guy called the city about it, and this was what their city trimmers did.
Load More Replies...Because the branches overhang their frontgardens. And like this it will rejuvenate and become s more dense green tree. The basic idear of pruning in this case
But all of the branches will have to regrow. That doesn’t happen in a year.
Load More Replies...If you look closely at the trimmed trees, you can see previous bulbs on the short limbs. Those bulbs come from a tree trimming method called pollarding. The tree will be fine. Looks wonky now, but it'll grow back bushier than ever.

Load More Replies...I would say this was entirely deliberate. By leaving the cement wrapped, it sets as a block and can be removed easily when the road is properly resurfaced. It settles to the shape of the hole and will not rock about when driven over. If you emptied the cement out of the bag into the hole whomever does the resurfacing would not be a happy bunny!
This is clearly a temp solution to avoid damage/ injury hazard. That's why there is a cone there. Because people are overreacting and tend to embellish they usually don't send a whole asphalt crew out on the initial report. Someone goes to assess. I'm just impressed OP was able to get this anywhere close to clean in only 30 minutes.
Usually it's the bottom of the oven that gets build up. Why is all the gunk on the DOOR?
I think that supposed to be the oven liner. As a cleaner, I can say that most of this could probably be cleaned easily. Scrape up the loose stuff and use fume free oven cleaner and steel wool on the rest. Roommate needs a stern talking-to. Gross
Load More Replies...Oh my goodness!! I can't imagine what was cooked in that oven to cause such buildup of food on the oven door and walls ..... Looks more like maybe something blew up in there and your roommate has a story they aren't telling you!!!!
Just make an effort to put an ovendish filled with hot water in it every week or so , and set the oven to half an hour medium temperature. After that most of the dirt is gone and you only have to wipe. This way also you don't have to use detergents or fatremovers, or whatever, in your oven.

Maybe I’m Overreacting. Idk. It’s Been Hanging Like This For Days (Southern Maine)
I moved to this small-ish southern Maine town in 2020 and this is the 3rd time I’ve seen a pole left dangling like this. The first time it was left for over a month. It just seems incredibly dangerous. I’m no electrician, so maybe I’m wrong. Maybe people who know more than me can chime in. I’m from Phoenix AZ & I have never in my life seen an electric pole just left to dangle like this. Is this a New England thing? Or is my town just lazy af?
I'm pretty sure this is due to bureaucratic red tape. The part that public works legally must leave for the electric/phone/cable/internet company is what's shown here. I know in my US town the poles are still owned by the telephone company that installed them.
Which is why, when I noticed a Pileated Woodpecker had nearly drilled through a pole, it took 9 months to fix. I Even showed a Consumers Power tech I happened to see a couple streets away.
Load More Replies...The strand can actually support the entire weight of every pole on a run minus the braced support poles at the end. Its fairly safe unless that piece of pole isn't attached well. Its less common in Phoenix (where I work on aerial utilities) because of it being so dry our poles don't rot out as often but it does happen. Probably don't have a huge crew for pole replacement and need a crane to get it off because a bucket truck won't support that much weight. Its less priority than you might think since it's extremely unlikely to fall.
The dangling pole is supporting phone and cable lines, not power lines.
We have one that has been laying on the side of the road for 6 months. At least they took the cables off of it.
Why are all those lines above ground anyway? So ugly and dangerous
Most cities won't install new aerial utilities but it's extremely expensive and a huge bureaucratic nightmare to transfer stuff to underground. Utility poles are part of initial city planning and the right away for them is actually in each individual home contact. Moving them to underground requires the city to plan a new Utility easement then the looks like 4-5 companies that are using that pole all have to trench to install new plant and all of the homes there need to be converted from aerial delivery to underground so a conduit for each Utility run to every home. Your talking millions of dollars, months of work and lots of service outages. Sounds simple but we just converted one section of overhead utilities to underground because a road is being widened. It was a nightmare. We're still dealing with the fallout 2 months later.
Load More Replies...I don't see why it would be dangerous. Maybe the town doesn't have the budget to fix it.
Top bare wires are high voltage attached to intact pole. Low voltage cable hitting the street lights seems to be attached to the intact pole. Everything on the broken pole is communication cables. The only danger is from falling debris. Still lazy, tho.

Yes, but criminal damage is wrong. This, however, is not criminal damage: https://tyreextinguishers.com/how-to-deflate-an-suv-tyre "Unscrew the cap on the tire valve." "To get the air out of the tyre, there must be something pushing down on the pin located in the center of the valve. Drop a small bean (we like green lentils, but you can experiment with couscous, bits of gravel, etc) inside the valve cap. Replace the cap, screwing it on with a few turns until you hear air hissing out. Even if it’s only hissing out a little bit, that’s enough - it will deflate slowly. The whole process should take about 10 seconds."

Well, the fact that OP didn't clip the tails is a little bit lazy.

Load More Replies...Not lazy, just a solution to a problem. May the new year being you much prosperity!
OP may have already owned the zip ties. Going and spending money on curtain rings, however cheap, is still more expensive than using materials one already has purchased.

So crazy heavy. I’m betting the line was painted fine and then they had to open it up and putting it back on was some effort.

How To Guess That Our Mother-In-Law Visited Us
Have alittle bowl by the kettle/pan, and dump it in that. Later, when cooled, snip the string and label off and you have a great compost for seedlings. Or get proper Brit T bags and no snipping involved.
Load More Replies...There's a reason for this one! If you have a bin with a lid and throw the teabag in when it's still hot, it causes condensation on the underside of the lid and the heat promotes mold growth so it makes your bin gross! Best to let it cool and dry a bit in the sink first.
Yes! It is a bad idea to throw wet garbage into the bin, especially lidded bins. This sounds gross but that's why, when I brush out my hair in the shower, I roll my shed hair into a hairball (literally) and leave it on the shelf in the shower to dry. I don't throw it into the trash can right after I shower, because it's wet organic matter. Of course, I'm the only human who lives in my home, so it's no huhu, but if I lived with other people I'd probably try to put my hairballs (or tea bags) at least off to one side so other people didn't have to deal with them.
Load More Replies...Uugh. I HATE it when people do this, or leave them on the counter next to the sink. Even if they put them on a saucer, I mean WHY, FFS, Why can't you just throw them in the bin?. It seems soo common, especially among Brits who drink like ten cups a day,
Some people put their teabags on the side of the sink to re-use them - ick ick ick if you ask me, but there you go. Me? I use loose leaf tea and a teapot.

It's called spot welding and, not only is it perfectly fine, it's very neat
It's reassuring to know that, untidy and lax about household chores as I usually am, I am not even half as slobby, inconsiderate and disgusting as these people.
In my old office, we bought real ceramic plates and real silverware for staff to use because people kept taking the paper plates and plasticware to use at home. Within a month, I noticed that a lot of it was missing. As I went to throw away some trash, I found one of the plates and forks in the trash because some jerk was too lazy to wash it. I assume that's where the others went as well.
This happened to me at an office job, I brought in a full set of real silverware, so I could occasionally use it but found it was pretty much gone because people would throw it out rather than wash it, we had a full functioning kitchen!

You guys ever been to Singapore? It was insane to me how all the public dining areas looked like this. I told my travel companion, in America someone would try to fight you for leaving this kind of a mess. Seriously, every. single. place has multiple tables left covered in mess literally feet away from trash cans and tray returns. Even in the IKEA! But I was the foreigner so I guess it's just socially acceptable over there.
you know its against the law to steal photographs on a large scale and then lock it behind a pay wall without compensating the original photographers with money
BP, if you’re going to cripple the polls on these “Premium” posts, hide the polls behind the paywalls.
Enh, the polls are usually pretty pointless, and leave out obvious answers.
