Doctors Told Model To Abort Her Child After She Lost 95% Of Her Jaw To Cancer. This Is What She Did
Pregnancy is often difficult, but pregnancy combined with cancer treatment is devastating. Then-24-year-old Latvian-born Canadian model Elizaveta Bulokhova was faced with this situation in 2014. While vacationing in Amsterdam with her husband, Roman Troubetskoi, what Bulokhova thought was a toothache turned out to be bone cancer. The doctors told her the photo model would need to have an abortion before chemotherapy.
“He was very active and I would talk to him often while he was in my womb,” Bulokhova told Vice of her then-unborn son. “I had to tell my baby boy to stop moving because I couldn’t keep him and then all of a sudden he did. He listened; he stopped moving.” In another interview with Daily Mail, she added, “I just told myself whatever the universe has in store for me I will accept it. If my baby is meant to be born, he will be born.”
Luckily, various delays presented the cancer patient with an unexpected third option: the possibility of a Caesarian section. After consulting with doctors, baby Valentin was safely delivered 10 weeks early. Bulokhova had 95% of her jaw removed, underwent chemotherapy, and is now recovering. The brave cancer survivor recently modeled for a Vice article that told her story. You can support cancer research and prevention through the Canadian Cancer Society.

Share on FacebookYolo Bunny, is that a hypothetical question? It's a tough situation to be in, and one I don't feel comfortable casting judgment on because I have thankfully never been in that situation. Neither should you be flinging about such callous comments. Until you walk a mile in someone's shoes.....
Load More Replies...My friend had a similar decision to make when she discovered she had cancer, but she was actually just a few weeks shy of giving birth! So they had to make the decision to deliver early (pretty early) or chemo. She delivered early and the baby is healthy and she is now cancer free!
Throughout history, mothers do things against the judgment of others. I am an old man, but I recognize that it is women who carry-along societies to better places. In the US, women will care for future generations with their votes and lives and stop what is going on now.
Load More Replies...it doesnt mean she'll pass the cancer. look at how healthy the baby looks and if he did have cancer they'd already know. plus shes not poisining him with radiation because she started chemo AFTER birth and now she has a happy family what is wrong with you .

Now that is a hero - thank you for giving God a chance to show you a real miracle - you are a beautiful family!
"...giving God a chance..." Nice thought. Applicable.
Load More Replies...Amazing story! So glad you didn't abort. Look at the beautiful family you are blessed with. God bless you all.
So glad the baby didn't have to die, and that she lived too. Enough broken hearts in the world.
Wonderful story! Lovely family. So glad you survived the cancer. Even if it comes back, you will have already been BLESSED by God and you KNOW it, so whatever the future holds, you'll deal with it, with God and your loving husband and child now. You know there's another life out there after death, and so does your husband. Remember that. God loves you.
Yolo Bunny I feel sorry for you if you listen to everything Western medicine doctors tell you. She has her baby, she's done her treatment and she's still a beautiful woman. What's wrong with that?
Good for her.....awesome outlook and it came out very successful.....cute little boy!
Poor dear, you have more scars than I do, yet you are still a successful model. You made the right decisions; best of luck in your future.
Elizaveta and Roman, I love the fun photo of you both in the car. That foundation can carry you through anything, and it clearly has. Elizaveta, I love how you used your body as a canvas, much as with modeling, but this you did for you, which makes it much more powerful. Wonderful, expressive art. Your scars are beautiful adornments, now, too. I hope you have a long, healthy life full of love and laughter, all of you. Thank you for sharing this very intimate experience with the world.
When I got to the photo with her son, my heart just melted. Brava, you are an inspiration!!!
Amazing, brave and beautiful. Always listen to your inner voice before deciding on live changing actions!
Jaw cancer is the growth of malignant cells on the jaw bones mainly osteosarcomas. The jaw is the most common site for cyst growth, which are usually benign.
You are just so strong....a very courageous mother...wish you all the very best in your life ahead and a very fast recovery....
You abort a fetus not a child childbirth is still the number 2 cause of death for women so...yeah.
She looks more beautiful than ever! Not only does she look amazing she is amazing. Fighting cancer is one thing, being pregnant is another. What an admirable lady
you are brave, you are strong and you are everything a mother can be.
Beautiful inside and out. Thank you for your story. I hope your son does great things (but not necessarily noticeable by the world. Great people, [like you] walk among us though we seldom hear about them. )
Oh this is so beautiful! You are an inspiration. Happy life and health to you and your family

While I was reading the story and thinking that she had a fantastic strenght, I was ok, but then came the picture of her with the baby in her arms, and I couldn't hold the tears... To think that it could have gone wrong, and now she has this beatiful boy and won the battle, it's just...
So happy you had your baby, he's beautiful and you are so brave, you are in my prayers <3
Kudos to this beautiful who made the choice to not abort her baby. May God continue to bless all of you together!

Embracing life and all it sends, you gave back such beauty and it continued to give you such a beautiful boy.
What do I think? How could you think anything other than the three of you are SPECTACULAR. We need more of you in this world. Thank you for being so beautiful inside and out. All the love in the world.
What do I think? I think all 3 of you are SPECTACULR! This is what the world needs. Thankfully for being amazing.
Well done, what a brave beautiful girl, may you live a long and happy life with your loving husband and son, and have a long life in modeling you deserve it.
If everyone who faced this devastating diagnosis were to see what this beautiful woman did, a lot of the fear would be gone. SO much life to be lived after the diagnosis and surgery. Congratulations to a magnificent family. May you live your dreams for decades to come.
Beautiful outside and inside! What a brave lady! Bless her and her loving husband, and their gorgeous baby boy!!
Such an inspiration to others...Awesome family and lucky little boy.
I'm so glad this has turned out well, I hope she continues recovering and the cancer stays away! But am I the only one wondering about all the other scars? On her arm? Her trachea? Her side? I feel like they didn't tell the whole story!
I think the scars on her side and arm are because they needed to remove tissue to put on her jaw. The skin on her right cheek has a slightly different tone from the rest of her face. The one in her trachea is from the respiratory tube used in the surgery.
