In The Fellowship of the Ring, there can be seen a car in the background in a scene, which means they had cars in Middle Earth, so why didn’t Sam and Frodo just take a bus to Mount Doom

There is a recording of J.R.R Tolkien explaining why they didn't take the eagles to Mordor. He goes on for about 2 minutes saying this is the definitive answer for all time. And the answer is: "Shut up!" Could not stop laughing!

Entertainment journalist James Grebey defined fan theory as “ideas and speculation that audiences have about movies, shows, comics, or anything.” He believes they exist because fans are passionate and creative about the things they love.

There are several types of fan theories that are distinguished by the different goals they try to achieve. The mystery-solving theories, for example, attempt to figure out an enigma that actually exists in the work of fiction.

A lot of these theories are eventually confirmed by filmmakers. Like Harry Potter being Voldemort’s Horcrux. Before the entire release of the Harry Potter series, viewers and readers were able to put the puzzle together and solve it. In the final part of the book Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, such predictions were confirmed, much to the audience's delight.

Side note; The first live-action Batman was Lewis Wilson, who appeared in the 1943 movie serial Batman. At the age of 23, Wilson was the youngest actor to play the role. And, Robert Lowery (age 36 when playing Batman) was a veteran actor when he took over the role of Batman in the 1949 BATMAN AND ROBIN serial for Columbia Pictures.

Another type of theory is a predictive one that essentially poses the question, “What happens next?” Avid film viewers try to pick on various details and hints that allow them to speculate what may come next in the story. This is essentially called foreshadowing and generates quite elaborate and interesting theories.

Something I found interesting in the first film was that when Shrek was converted to human form Fiona recognized him immediately. It was entirely Fiona's decision to change to an ogre. Shrek was clear he would have loved and accepted her either way.

The plot-hole-filling type of theory tries to answer questions that aren’t as important. Since continuity errors happen in movies and TV shows, people attempt at explaining them—not always successfully though. One of the most famous ones is pondering whether there was enough room for Jack on the door in Titanic.

The following two, retcon and head-canon theories, are already treading the absurd category. The former one tries to argue that what you saw on the screen didn’t actually happen, like Black Widow not actually dying in the Endgame. These speculations rarely make sense, as disproving something we can see is almost impossible.

No, sapient is the right word. It means 'intelligent', whereas sentient just means 'able to perceive or feel things', so snakes are already sentient, but if they have developed their own language, they're intelligent.

Some homeless people prefer living on the streets, especially when they are offered somewhere to sleep that doesn't allow their animals. In this case pigeons.

The head-canon theory is fun, usually used to creatively engage fandoms. Just like the idea that Elsa and Anna from Frozen share the same parents with Tarzan. Such claims usually don’t have substantial reasoning behind them and often annoyingly spam movie watchers. However, it might be worth mentioning that the theory that Peter Parker made an appearance in Iron Man 2 was just a head-canon at first that Marvel made to come true.

The final theory is a real-life one, and as the name suggests, it speculates about the real world. For instance, how Dsiney or Sony will handle licensing disputes. This, of course, can be a lot of fun for fandoms but the issue with them is that some reporters portray them as truth in their articles and deceive their readers.

Ally Sheedy has talked about the fact that there's a cut scene which would have explained it a little better. She's not a goth. It's clear Allison draws scenes of rural bridges and is not dark. She's not a goth, she just dresses like that for the attention. The scene ended up on the cutting room floor.

To wrap things up, I’ll leave you with one more fan theory that might seem unbelievable but turned out to be actually true. After Robocop came out in 1987, viewers were quick to point out that the story weirdly resembles the one of Jesus Christ: the man is killed and then resurrected to save humanity. The theory was confirmed by its director, Paul Verhoeven, who said that it’s of course a Christ story. “It is about a guy that gets crucified after 50 minutes, then is resurrected in the next 50 minutes and then is like the super-cop of the world,” he added.

I don't like defending this due to the fact that I personally think that the writing got worse with each book, but truth potions probably would be outlawed as they would violate the rights of those being forced to take them.

Tbf, the ‘JK Rowling is a c**p person’ brigade has gone a little overboard. On another page, for instance, someone said she wanted all transgender people to be ‘fixed’, and I’m fairly sure she never said that. Yes, she’s made mistakes (most notably imo about that boxer lady), but ultimately I’d still say she’s looking out for women’s rights more than fighting trans people having any. I’m sure I’ll be downvoted for this anyway. Being pro something doesn’t necessarily you’re vehemently anti something else.

Encyclopedia Britannica refers to her as "Polish-born French physicist". She studied physics at the Sorbonne (France), married professor Curie and worked in France. I don't know if she was naturalized French, though.

I was born and raised in the Netherlands but I studied medicine in the UK, I worked in the UK, I married a Scot, and I have British citizenship, so it would be correct to say I’m British, much like it’s correct to say Marie Curie was French despite being born in Poland, as she became a French citizen.

A physicist isn't a physicist for the country they were born in but rather for the country they practice physics in. Therefore, Marie Curie is a French Physicist, French is modifying Physicist, not Marie Curie.

Snow White referenced legends of dwarfs who were mystical, magical creatures, fae-folk, not people with dwarfism. The movie theories that humorously suggest that Snow White is a sequel to Lord of the Rings aren't actually merely silly; they are both based on the same legends to the extent that many of the Lord of the Rings' dwarves' names translate into Snow White's dwarfs' names. (Tolkein chose a spelling to parallel them to elves.)

This doesn't make sense. How could Ridley Scott change his mind AFTER watching the Hunger Games which was released as a movie more than 30 years after the Original Alien film was released? Ellen Ripley was the lead character in several Alien movies long before the Hunger Games had even been thought of.

He remade the original Star Trek and Paramount had to created a whole new timeline to explain why he'd only skimmed through the original series. With Star Wars he watched a teaser trailer for 4, 5 and 6 before remaking it and Disney didn't pretend it was a new timeline

Well the light saber was an elegant weapon for a more civilized age. Said so right on the tin in the (original) first episode.

Huh? The point of Uglies was about selling an ideal “you” that secretly jacks w your prefrontal lobe so you’ll submit to authoritarian Rule. I thought it was brilliant and she rocked that. Being a trans woman was irrelevant. Let’s practice accurate satire.

Hear me out: Didn't see the movie, so I don't know if this proposed backstory is contradicted, but playing off the fact that the antagonist -- well, let's just say she's not "conventional." She's crushed that she was left looking about as feminine as Dennis Rodman in his wedding dress, so she wants to make sure that doesn't happen to others but because this is coming out of selfish anger and not true altruism, she's rigidly ideological about it, making her behave villainous? In my experience, a LOT of villains start out wanting what they see as good.

That was a very stupid movie. One girl finds the rebel according to a preset communication including a light signal. Then the lead has to blindly traipse thru everywhere looking for the same rebel even though she was freaking standing right freaking next to the 1st girl who showed her exactly how to reach out.

OK, they can cast a racially diverse cast for a Wizard of Oz remake if they want to (Michael Jackson as the Scarecrow back in the day was AWESOME... and Kansas DOES actually have black people, and even did in the Great Depression), but why cast a racially diverse cast and then try to make Dorothy look like a white girl anyway? Let alone the fact that Dorothy is like 13, and Grande is in her 30s.

OK, hear me out: A love potion, not an aphrodesiac but an actual love potion, could have some legitimate uses. We're just used to presuming its used by one person to make another person fall in love, which inherently suggests both a horrifying type of control, and that the two people shouldn't actually be togther. But come on, if the person taking the potion does so on their own free will, we're talking the greatest marital aid ever devised. Yeah, people should work out their marital issues, but don't tell me we don't use d***s to help other issues, like depression, anxiety, PTSD, addiction, compulsion, etc.
