I refuse to believe that it can be so coincidental that both of us thought of not only the same post idea but also similar descriptions! Lol ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Anyway, I think it depends on the context. Little mermaid, I think it's ok-ish so as long as Halle Bailey can act properly. But I think that to a certain extent, the actors that you swapped out are technically having less representation then no? Like some redheads were mad that their representation was being reduced, especially since Ariel was the first redhead princess.
And the thing is, it's not just a matter of one or two characters being swapped. Tinkerbell, Ariel, and Astrid from How to Train your Dragon- they've all been swapped for black or biracial (I think) actresses.

As for Queen Cleopatra, that's a hard no from me. I don't care how many people I offend by this, but you cannot twist or reimagine history and then claim it's a documentary. It is an undeniable fact that even if Cleopatra was of mixed ancestry, she was most definitely not black. There's plenty of evidence such as statues and coins that show that she was of Greek and Macedonian decent.

By the way, Cleopatra may have been a redhead too. Is this a conspiracy to erase redheads from film! /s

I think it’s good to cast parts while not seeing race but when Disney movies swap out actors if different races for existing actors instead of just making new movies with a poc as the main characters, it’s lazy. Disney is also one of those companies that uses “diversity” as an excuse to gain more people to follow them.
