Sometimes the smallest investments make the biggest difference. What’s something under $100 that completely changed your life — whether it’s a gadget, a book, a habit, or even an experience?

A rabbit. Gave me a reason to make it to tomorrow so that somebody would be there to take care of him. Somehow keeping me alive for one day has turned into almost half a decade now.
I get it. We got my father a dog for the same reason. He was always an active person until he had an accident and ended up on long term disability. He started to spiral, never left the house or even the couch that much and after getting a dog, it gave him a reason to get off the couch, go for slow walks to the dog park, etc. It gave him a purpose again and really helped pull him out of that spiral. Animals give so much.
Oven mitts.
I haven't burnt myself taking food out of the oven since buying a pair.
*10/10 would recommend.
Depends over what time period. For £5 a box you can get Cheerful Buddha lions mane mushroom tea. 15 tea bags in a box. 1 tea a day, 2 boxes will see you through a month for a tenner. Look up the benefits of lions mane mushroom. I have been in the tea for well over a year and I certainly feel the benefits.
There are also capsules just to take with water. Faster and with no nasty taste 👍 (as I don't like the taste, at least of the powder in cold water)
My e-book
Rechargeable, remote control candles and color changing light bulbs. The vibe is completely different and changeable. (I never use fire candles because of my pets).
My air fryer. Was about €35 and has opened up chicken nuggets, chips, battered fish, and all sorts of things. Couple that with a free upright freezer (a local family asked me how to recycle it and I said "well, you could give it to me" and so they did). It's old and inefficient, but that and the air fryer has made a huge change to my diet. I'm eating less pasta and ready meals and more fish/chicken and chips. And all without grease.
My air fryer cost about 35$. I call it my 'chicken cooker' (like rice cooker but for chicken). 3-4 thighs, perfectly seasoned in 30 min (15 min, then turn over). Take the drippings and mix with a bit of apricot jam, chili sauce, ketchup for an awesome dipping sauce! Btw, I use a parchment paper liner, so no cleanup!
Yogurt maker plus a variety of probiotics.
A game changer for my gut health.
Even better is kefir (more good bugs and they stay in and colonize, unlike with yogurt). Get dried granules on amazon, mix 1/2 scant teaspoon into a quart of whole milk that is lukewarm. Stir and let sit on counter loosely covered. 24 hours in summer, 48 hours in winter (approx), till it's buttermilk consistency, then refrigerate. If it separates, you've waited too long. Eat like yogurt. I used to do 2 containers (1/2 gallon total) at a time. It keeps in fridge.
If any readers out there want a book that seriously WILL change their life (or at least the way you think about it, and your place in society), I *highly* recommend a novel (not written by me) called 10:59 by N. R. Baker.
I try to tell everyone I know about it, because... well, just wow, I have no words. This needs to be on every high school curriculum (it's written for an adult and YA audience).
If you like reading then check it out (and reviews on Goodreads and Amazon if you need to be sure). An absolutely stunning thriller.
Amazon Fire tablet. I was looking at my phone a ton after work, and I work in IT, so screens screens screens... My eyes were killing me at night looking at the little screen before bed. We have an older Ipad, but it is used for household stuff in the kitchen. For sub $100(prime day), I no longer have eye strain and use it all the time. Is it fast? No. Is it querky with apps etc, Yes. But it was cheap, it gets me to the inets, amazon, BP etc. and it lets me watch the odd movie or youtube video on the deck/camping/on the boat. I can screen cast to the big TV and it holds all my downloaded I tunes music so I can use it in the car, that way I can free up the phone for navigation. I don't have a data plan on it as 90% of the time I will be on WIFI and I always have my phone, plus the battery lasts forever. If I ever need computing power I have my Mac and work laptop. Best $99.95 I have spent in a while besides the fly fishing waders I got last week, of course......
Keeping a bullet journal. It has honestly been a life saver many times for me over the past decade or so.
All you need is a notebook and a pen. Perhaps a ruler. (You can of course buy more stuff like high lighters, deco tape, sticky notes..... etc, but it's not really necessary).
The cool thing, imo, about bullet journals is that you can do with it as you wish. Make it what you need. Mine is full of kid-related pages because I have kids. I am trying to get back to some of my pre-mom activities and exploring some new things in my life, so I am filling my BuJo with more song lyrics, reading-log, concert-stuff, Norse pagan stuff and so on.
Also, in the calendar-part of my BuJo I also looked up a ton of fun "holidays" to add so I can add more random fun things on normal weekdays for the kids. I can't recall the dates now, but there are days like: banana split-day, siblings-day, picnic month, lasagna day, ancestor appreciation day, etc. I will just do a little thing during these days that relates to the holiday and the kids find it so much fun! Makes me look like a fun mum who has all the time and energy in the world -if just for a day here and there.
I strongly recommend having a bullet journal. It's really fun! Oh, and a few years ago my phone was stolen but that didn't matter much because I already had all my contacts' info in my bullet journal. Lol.
