Years Ago, When We Just Moved To Canada, No Jobs, Little Money. We Found A Large Box Full Of LEGO For $2, Our 9yr Son Was Ecstatic
There's an app for your phone called Brickit. You spread your Lego out flat, scan it with your phone's camera, and it will come back with descriptions of how to build all kinds of things with what you have. It's fun. And I'm an adult.
Our son grew up and we passed the Lego to another small kid :)

I've also read that some carry fish or other items and this denotes the purpose of the journey - i.e. fishing etc. This one carries a head. The Solomon Islanders at one time were headhunters.
