Thank you. I'm 65 and was so happy to feel more myself. I had stopped coloring my hair when the pandemic hit so I figured may as well go with the salt and pepper just like me. 👍

Yep, those are mine, I failed English 10 three times in High School, had to take it in summer school to graduate, couldn't diagram a sentence, no college prep courses. 10 years later into college through night school, graduated, spent the next 40 years in Journalism, every dime I've made as a professional came from writing stuff...never once asked to diagram a sentence. I talk with kids/adults about my experience tell them to believe in themselves, find others who believe in you, and don't give up, it's not easy but it can be done.

Did it ever occur to you to turn it around, and ask yourself if the teacher who told you that wasn't just a bad teacher?

I once read about how a teacher told a boy in his class to give up his guitar if he ever wanted to amount to anything. Thank goodness he didn't because that boy was Mark Knopfler and he went on to found the rock group Dire Straits and have a very successful solo career afterwards.

My husband was told continually how stupid he was at school. He took an apprenticeship and trained as an engineer (could always do Maths). He became interested in computing and took some practical courses. Due to a good teacher, he was found to have dyslexia at 35, and with the help he got after that, he gained his degree. He now works with students with disabilities of all types - he assists them with equipment and software to help them succeed in education. Sorry on mobile and I can't see the full text.eequipequipment and

"College Material" isn't necessarily a good thing. While absolutely a valuable opportunity for reaching specific goals, gaining credentials, offers clear markers for "success", and for many people is a pretty good fit.... It also is a pretty generic part of a pretty generic system, for pretty generic people to become part of a pretty generic workforce. College Material is what they sew into scrubs and boring shirts. Sounds like you're more of a durable material, the kind you use to make your favorite pair of pants, and a cool coat with custom pockets that is both super comfy AND makes you feel as attractive as it makes you look. Whatever that material is. You chose it yourself.

I think my "material" would be like, a sturdy denim-like dark grey, but reversible. The flipside a jersey knit soft purple and green. Adjustable/detachable pockets of various sizes, and some sort of oversized hood would be involved... Everything would be adjustable. No one else would have it.

Girlfriend should happy that you: 1) shared something that is obviously special to you with her, 2) are man enough to show your nuturing/emotional side, 3) friggin *have* a nuturing/emotional side, and 4) appreciate all of that instead of calling it "childish." Personally, I think girlfriend is a b***h lol.

    Community Member
3 years ago Created by potrace 1.15, written by Peter Selinger 2001-2017

Oh, it is SO loved. I've loved some of the quilts right off it! 😆 So, when myself and my 2 other cousins were born my gramma made us blankets. One got a blue one, he was a boy. One got a red one ,she was a girl, and I got yellow because no one knew what I would be yet, a boy or a girl. It had a yellow backing and a printed front. I loved that blanket till I was about 9. Then my house got robbed and they stole my blanket. I was DEVESTATED. It was the only thing I had of my best memories of my grandma. My older cousin ( girl) gave me her red one that gramma made her. It had a red backing with a quilted front. I loved that one till it pretty much disintegrated. THEN I found this one at a thrift store in Arkansas. I was about 23 and gram was long passed away by now) It was a yellow backing ( like my gramma made for me) and a quilted front ( like gram made for my cousin). I hade to have it. Grabbed it and asked the guy at the counter if he knew if it was made by a grandma. He said yes, I bought it and have love it ever since. I sorta see it as a gift from my grandmother becuse she could be there to make me another. I cherish it very very much.

Sort of? There are specific toe pads you buy to prevent actual pain, so it’s like an intense squeeze

That is one of the best chessboards I’ve seen. We own a heavy wood chessboard, and it’s amazing, just not very portable.

I have a marble one that was my husbands. I don't play chess but I wasn't going to get rid of it. It's really nice and super heavy. It is def a weapon if someone breaks into my home and I can get behind them.

I gave away my most cherished possession 10 years ago. It was my mother's engagement ring 💍. No daughters but a woman stole my son's heart. I had the Diamond reset in a larger size, added 3 Diamonds on each side of her 1917 Solitaire. I'm sure his love would've been met with love and family. 💞

Children really are the best-I look forward to grandchildren someday, my 4 kids (5 I’m expecting another) are still little, the oldest is 7. I hope that when I’m old we have one of those huge extended families and that my kids and grandkids and all their spouses will have huge celebrations together.

It’s an Ibanez RG470 which I bought in 1998. Still going strong. I’d love an American strat as well. Years ago I went to a music instrument exhibition and met Paul Reed Smith himself and got his autograph. I do like PRS guitars.

The best and worst part of living in Romania is the constant stream of kitties. My wife and i have found homes for several dozen over the years, we pay out of pocket to get as many as we can fixed, and i spend a couple hours a day feeding, playing with and refilling water dishes in a two block radius of our Apt. I've put platforms onto a couple trees in our garden so they have a safe space to sprawl and eat, and for about 2 years, we had 20 cats and half a dozen dogs populating our garden throughout the day, and another dozen cats and 3 dogs two buildings away from ours. It's often heartbreaking, i'm the kind of idiot that names them all and gets attached, there have been hundreds that have come and gone over the past 10 years.

Please don't consider this rude but as a rider myself...essentials are long pants, jacket(padded on the back if preferable), boots and gloves.EVERY time you ride. You never PLAN to wipe out but if you do... you want to keep as much of yourself off the road as possible. Leather is great...it keeps you from sliding as much. I like the full coverage helmet. So many riders use the most minimal helmet they can legally get away with and it means they have mush for brains or will if they wipe out. I know this was just a picture session but I'm just making sure he learns early before he gets his own bike. How do you spot a happy Harley rider? By the bugs on his teeth. PS: I hit a bee while riding...with my throat! That was the tiny spot that wasn't covered by jacket or helmet. Aggggh. Safe riding to you both.

I swallowed a June bug ridding on the back of my dad's bike as a young teen. It was nasty! I think I gagged for 5 whole days after that. Sound advice as I see young men and women riding with no helmets or leather or really any protection. Suit up riders, dress smart, ride smart!
