When we think 'Internet,' do we associate it with positivity? I, for one, tend to think of commenters arguing about pointless things in the comments under a YouTube video or fandoms going at each other on Twitter (X). However, a study by Oxford University revealed that Internet use can result in higher well-being.
If you're using it to connect with other like-minded people and chat about the things you like, it definitely contributes to more positivity. If you frequent groups like the Wholesome Meets The Internet community on Facebook, you can also get a dopamine boost pretty instantly. So let today be an uplifting day, Pandas, and enjoy some of the memes the members of this group shared to make each other's days better!

Load More Replies...What an AMAZING young man! 🥳 His parents have raised him right!! 👏
This may be wholesome, but I'm not ever putting my young child next to a fully grown German Shepherd that's JUST come from the shelter.
German Shepherds are the best. I've had two now and would totally get another one.
GSDs are my lifelong favorite breed :) One of my current doggos is half GSD (the other half is Kuchi Dog.) My puppy is a Belgian Malinois. Mals are awesome too, but my heart will forever belong to GSDs XD
Load More Replies...We often demonize social media for dumbing us down, reducing our attention span, and promoting unhealthy habits. But it (and the Internet as a whole) has positive effects on our mental well-being as well. That is, as long as we use it and connect with people mindfully. A Harvard University study explored this phenomenon.
When we use social media routinely, say, check our feeds once or twice a day and respond to what others have posted, it contributes to our social well-being, self-rated health, and better mental health. When we're checking our social media accounts obsessively, it gets trickier. We don't feel the same social fulfillment, start feeling worse about ourselves, and our mental health deteriorates in general.
same thing happened with my dad--he claimed we don't need a cat until he saw her fluffy face, and now we have three :)
Reminds me of the time my friends and I chipped in to get a guinea pig for our other friend for her bday. Her father was NOT amused or happy with us. 15 minutes later we peek into the livingroom and he's holding it on his chest and talking to it. We were like, 'ahem....' and he just smiled sheepishly at us.
I love how nobody questions finding a kitten at the zoo. Kittens can be found anywhere and it is normal.
Well, we have a picture of the kitten, so we know OP didn’t run off with a “kitten” from the lion exhibit or something.
Load More Replies...I hope Kitty is good with remembering names and faces or else it'll be a disaster at the family barbeque this weekend.
What gets me is the look of concentration on kitty's face: "Okay, so that's Uncle Tony and that's cousin Thelma and that's... no, no, don't tell me! Great Aunt Minnie!"
"That was you?? Kevin, I may be new around here but we need to have a discussion on your tuna intake."
I'm sorry but there is only the one "T" in "protec"
Load More Replies...And *I* will love him and pet him and call him... JOE!!!
Load More Replies...No, not the puppy they got. The puppy their great dane got. That is HIS puppy.
Scrappy Doo was best in small doses. When he became one of the main characters with only Shaggy and Scooby and the episodes dropped the mystery element, it was terrible.
Load More Replies...I went through the McDonald's drive thru the other day and noticed a sticker that said they had braille menus inside. Loved the idea, but did think the placement of the sticker was weird 🙃
I doubt they assumed blind person was going to be driving. But there might be a blind person in the car who would like being able to read the menu for themselves.
Load More Replies...I hope the food is good cause that could become a regular place for her !
Braille is on the decline due to technology. Text to speech and so on. But technology has also given blind people text to braille devices so they can read 'normal" print. Link is an example of one of them. https://www.smithsonianmag.com/innovation/device-translates-text-braille-real-time-180963171/
Thanks for the link, David! That story is inspiring.
Load More Replies...At least this can’t be replaced by a stupid bar code, which shouldn’t happen anyway. There’s just something about being given a menu, reading the items and looking at pictures of the dishes (if there are any). Can’t replicate that with a barcode and a menu that’s only the size of your phone—-and can only be used if there’s cell service.
What can we do to avoid it? The authors of the study claim that self-regulation is key. As Nathan Brandon, Psy.D., told us in a previous interview, we should curate our online experiences so that we don't feel overwhelmed.
"This involves actively choosing to follow accounts that align with your values and unfollowing toxic or triggering content," he explained. "It can also be beneficial to turn off notifications for news stories that may create anxiety so you can read them when you're ready rather than being bombarded with them throughout the day."
her biceps are awesome, no wonder the kid thought she was a superhero XD
We can always use a great general in this world, that inspires kids and you look pretty good and much like that general to me! Heroes come in all sexes and talents!
I love this! No one is ever too old to swing! ... I mean on a swingset, ya'll.
Wish they d taken off their gloves, but other than that, carry on. I didn’t see the swing at first I thought they were doing some kind of sick flip 🤙
So you couldn't see the swing but you can see they're wearing gloves?
Load More Replies...On Monty Don's gardening show "Big Dreams, Small Spaces," there was a couple who wanted to plant a sensory garden for their child who had a disability. They planted lots of bright, colorful flowers, some that were edible, and lots that smelled really good. I thought it was an amazing idea, like this one!
I was just reading about them last night :) apparently anyone can come and enjoy their flowers.
"Practicing mindfulness about how you consume online content can help to manage feelings of overwhelm or stress," he went on, echoing what the authors of the Harvard study claimed. "Taking breaks, setting time limits, and engaging in self-care activities offline can also help maintain a healthy balance between online and offline life. It's vital to prioritize self-care and offline activities that bring joy and fulfillment."
My heart. Seriously this really got to me. I love the elderly.
Yes, I agree. I do home care for the elderly in my community and I really enjoy the work just for all the amazing people I get the privilege to help
Load More Replies...If they stay there much longer they'll end up looking like chocolate lads!
*ahem* i believe you mean BKB (best kitty besties)
Load More Replies...Dr. Brandon also told us back then that a 'digital detox' period can be very helpful. "Designate certain times of the day or specific days of the week as screen-free, allowing time to reconnect with the physical world and engage in activities like reading, [exercising], or spending time in nature," he suggested to our readers back then.
I'm a member of a nature drawing club. We basically do the same. Just gathering in a garden and draw peacefully in silence. I highly recommend it
I get that at home, with Mr Auntriarch, a little chat, and reading in companionable silence
*climbs onto the book for a nap*
Load More Replies...Used to do this with a couple of friends. We'd all turn up at whoever's house, say hello; and then just sit in silence reading books. Underrated.
I have a dislike of tattoos. I always believed they looked trashy and low class. But there is always an exception to the rule. And this is the exception for me.
Some of us have them for very good reasons. My husband has one in honor of his best friend who died in a car crash, I have ones in honor of loved ones and one to remind me I am loved when depression gets the better of me. I agree, some can be trashy, but please realize many many many of us have them for mental health reasons.
Load More Replies...These are my favourite types of stories. I love when puppies adopt kittens or vice versa. And now this alpaca has a chicken godmother 🥰
Socializing and finding support in community was another factor Dr. Brandon emphasized for a positive online experience. And some people may find it in online spaces. In fact, the co-author of the Harvard study, Mesfin Awoke Bekalu, said that social media "may compensate for diminishing face-to-face social interactions in people's busy lives."
I've read that sloths' fur is an ecosystem all its own, so maybe funny smelling air freshener too
Load More Replies...I could definately hang outwith a sloth. We could bing watch Netflix.
And by the looks of it, they're brother and sister. How could you ever separate them?! Bravo 😍
Well you can't tempt a dog like that and leave them alone with a tasty treat! It's only fair that he had some too.
I can just imagine pranking a vet this way. Doc! I don't know what to do! Her tongue is BLUE
However, there is also research that contradicts this. A 2018 study found that socializing and being around people makes us more satisfied with our lives. You might think that chatting on Discord or in the comments here under this post might have the same effect. But not quite. As Social Psychologist Alexander Danvers, Ph.D., told us before, in-person socialization is more beneficial.
I love the fact that they gave him a graduation robe and mortarboard. He earned it.
Hacker: "Pay me $$$ or I will leak all your photos!" OP: "Please do, the world could use more happy dog pictures!"
Danvers and colleagues did research trying to understand behavior through mobile sensing. They would measure socializing through conversations they could record on a smartphone or a fitness tracker. They found that in-person socializing benefits us a great deal.
"Being around people for longer is related to being more satisfied with your life, and that being alone for less than 75% of your day (about 12 of 16 waking hours) probably won't leave you feeling lonely," Danvers explained.
Some dads (like THIS gent) set the bar pretty high for the rest of us... but we'll try!
Oh no! I've seen a bumblebee butt, now I'm gonna unalive 15 people and then aliven't myself! /j
Load More Replies...Nah, he just threw himself into his work that day.🐝🌷
Load More Replies..."Just talking to someone in meatspace is a demanding task," he explained previously. "So, I'd think of online socializing as sort of the 'lite' version. That may be nice to do when you're feeling tired or burnt out, but it's also not going to give you the full experience of connecting with another person. To have really satisfying connections, you do need to put in the effort of navigating the more complicated world of in-person interactions."
I've seen this a 1000 times before and it never fails to a) give me a chuckle and b) raise the following question: So, the wrong cat just went "Guess this is my live now" and also, OP just... kept it?
Wouldn’t you?? That’s how cat distribution system works
Load More Replies...Neither cat looks like a stray so someone may be wondering where their cat went.
His cat was probably at the other one's house deceiving their owner
Load More Replies...Not always. My husband does the same....
Load More Replies...Even when they've been destructive little bastards and wrecked the house, I defy anyone to not melt when they flop over next to you and the chin touches your arm.
I don't know why, but when my small tabby girl walks all over me without care or concern, my heart squeezes. 🥰
Load More Replies...Mesfin Awoke Bekalu also spoke about how he and his colleagues found disparities in the positive effects of social media for people across different ages, races, and social standings. "While the benefits were generally associated with younger age, better education, and being white, the harms were associated with older age, less education, and being a racial minority," he commented.
My god that granddaughter is pretty, I wish I looked like that when I was that young!
Hahaha! My parents had a tortoise that loved strawberries. It only took once for my mom to figure out that red nail polish on her toes was a bad idea. 😆
He's going after the fairy next-tortoise rampage! Destructive, just very, very slow...
It is startling how fast a tortoise can move when it wants something.
Load More Replies...And now you take a picture of it to give to your artist so they can make it official.
Not gonna lie, tjat is one SICK tat with the colours! You should get the artist to fill the colours in!

I love this, and marvel at how safe the neighborhood must be (no dogs or cats to scoop him up for a snack).
I had a dog and a Guinea pig growing up and the dog was *terrified* of the Guinea pig. The Guinea pig, on the other hand, adored the dog and would follow her around, much to the dog’s dismay.
Load More Replies...I want to live somewhere where this happens! Lots of little animal visitors
The white patches of my guinea pig's fur would turn orange from all the carrots I gave it.
My dad always called me on my brithday, singing for me. The first birthday after his passing was a difficult one. He's been gone for nine years now and I still miss him and his birthday calls.
In my family it was my father presenting my mother with the first three daffodils of the spring in a particular heirloom vase. They're both gone now, but I continue the tradition with my little sister, although the presentation is through an emailed picture of the flowers and vase.
Great job , you will be a successful person I am sure , you have a great head start already, dad is really proud and it shows.
I'm glad this photo exists. The trees have suffered quite a bit in the ensuing years and it's not so distinctive anymore. It was a delight to be sure!
It is still quite distinctive. You might have seen it before the total change for the season.

Left to prove, will rise well in few hrs, then add two cups of milk
Load More Replies...I wish. I wish I could find someone to give me heart to, who would give me her heart in return. And not just for the big moments. The little moments. Holding hands as we do our chores. Her head on my chest as we watch tv, or read books together. Waking up to her next to me. Walking past and letting my fingertips brush over her, just knowing she is there and real. A kiss on the tip of her nose. I wish...
wise words from a wise man who would know a thing or two, take his advice and live longer too.
Uh huh. We had cats that would sit on the railing of our deck and meow under a window to come in. My sib started just letting them in the window instead of walking out to the door. After that, window only for them.
Load More Replies...He just loved ordering his slave around, as cats do. 😄
Load More Replies...We have a cat that loves to climb to high places and be "rescued" with a basket. I have to get him down from my car, trash cans, laundry room cabinets. He used to climb the screens on our enclosed porch and get to the upper eaves, which tore up the screens and required a ladder as part of the rescue. I built a cat ladder using baskets on an adjacent wall so he can get up and down on his own. He still wants rescuing from other places, but it's because he loves baskets and the fun interaction.
My cat, Shadow, used to do this all the time. Even my dad would go out to hold the basket for him
That's a, " I'm tired. Can someone please carry me?" look if ever I saw one!
Fourteen centimeters to the right and this would have been magical. Still epic, but soooo close to magical
I dunno, being offset gives it a bit more interest as a composition, IMO

Lol. That's the EXACT look my dog gives when I nudge her when she's sleeping on the sofa.

Family tree I see they look just like me, wait a minute , is my tail gonna catch fire ??
Had a cat, Jinxie, who would run to the window as my car pulled in each evening. (He did the same when the Mr. whip ice cream van drove down our street.)
You're baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My little dog goes ape s**t daily when I get home from work. Like I've been gone for years, for like 30 minutes. My wife swears nothing loves anything more than that dog loves me. Her name is Cow btw.
We call it the taco shuffle..coming home, and bringing tacos are both very exciting.
...and you're being judged as well. You just can't see the smirk on it's face.
I think I've seen this before. Also, I think he/she/they said they don't have a cat.
sooooooooooooo true, they are babies, you turn for a second and bam ! adults !
Load More Replies...If this were a movie, I'd be a lot more likely to watch it compared to Boss Baby. Especially if Alec friggin Baldwin didn't voice the dog...
I don't see anyone using him as a basketball! He's just wearing a tie for cripe's sake.
Load More Replies...Proof positive that it’s the marriage, and not at all the wedding, that’s the important part. Bet these two stay together forever, loving each other as much, or even more, than they did when this picture was taken. Compare that to the quick divorces of people who spend tens or hundreds of thousands on just a wedding.
Always wonder why but I don't dare ask because she might start wondering too.
That moment you realise this is motion blur. On something you thought was a lifeless toy. Toy Story : The Reckoning
I have to wonder what could possibly take six years and still be edible
St Fagan's is a large, outdoor, museum of Welsh life not too far from Cardiff. Some old buildings are saved from being demolished by being taken apart and rebuilt brick-by-brick at St Fagans. Interesting place if you're ever in the area.
Co-signed. Really worth a visit, fascinating place. Also free entry which is awesome.
