Man Shares What He Went Through To Graduate From Harvard And If This Won’t Inspire You, Nothing Will
Shannon Satonori Lytle didn’t come from money but the man’s determination allowed him to realize his potential regardless. Lytle, despite all odds, has just graduated from Harvard, one of the most prestigious universities in the whole world, and his heartwarming success story is truly inspirational.
When Shannon was in high school, people said he wouldn’t make it into a top-tier college. He had to take care of his three younger siblings, worked 150 hours to buy a laptop, and was living without WiFi in his house. Despite everything, he went from flipping McDonald’s burgers to graduating from Harvard and wrote his story in a Facebook post that has already amassed over 180k shares.
“I often felt inferior because of my socioeconomic status,” Lytle told Teen Vogue. “No matter what your personal obstacle is, please don’t feel this way if you can help it. Raise your head, roll up your sleeves, and work hard knowing that every person is valuable and deserves a chance to become the person they want to be.”
Scroll down to read Shannon’s incredible story in his own words.

Shannon Satonori Lytle became the first member of his family to graduate from college
The heartwarming story quickly went viral and inspired hundreds of thousands worldwide
This guy proved that no dream is big enough if you’re willing to chase it despite all odds
I guess I take my parents for granted. And I think my life is hard... wow. This article really made me realized how good I have things.
High five, young man! Go forth and make the world a better place so that those who follow you may not have to struggle as hard
This reminds me of how I graduated early. There was no such thing as wifi, but professors did expect work turned in online but I had no computer & no car & I was assaulted when trying to take the bus to the library. I got lucky that a lady at a babysitting gig gave me her old laptop & I was able to get netzero for ten hours a month. It was slow but it worked with a phoneline & I passed. I needed to graduate early so that I could join the army as funds were more than tight for my family. I needed certain college classes to do so. I made it, I'm out of the army & back in college, but I might have starved to death or ended u p on the streets if I hadn't have done what I did & the kindness of that woman certainly helped.
Inspiring but still, if you were a girl and born in a super corrupted country like mine I don't know if you would have graduated.
Well done. You overcome it all. Only difference is that if you get a qualification in the country I stay, good luck in finding a job of you belong to the wrong race.
After reading his inspirational story, I realize that I don't have any excuse for not doing well in my studies. Congratulations!!! >.<
Amazing, I tought I was working hard for my dreams, now I´m even more inspired to work harder and harder, hope he does well in life, that determination it´s really amazing
I wish I had had his courage and drive when I was his age.... and now at my age.
Incredible determination, proves hard work can lead you to achieving your dreams.
Everyone should go through this to appreciate what education can do for u.
Amazing story. Then you get those who have and get everything who complain about everything.
You live in a s****y country having to waste all that time compensating for the lack of a wellfare system.
I Think He's Beyond Fantastic! All the people who've achieved this level of accomplishment, coming from a place where this type of miracle is seldom seen; goes to show you - nothing on earth can stop you, BUT YOU. He wanted this dream to happen and he did the WORK to make it possible. Without the determination and the work is would not be possible. Bless You Young Prince. You did your thing.
That's a great story! Congratulations and Good Luck to you in whatever you choose to do with your hard earned education!!
Sorry but it's the personality that matters not diploma. My dad also comes from a poor family but his character is sometimes rather terrible.
I mean - he has achieved a lot but but his emotional intelligence has stuck behind and everybody in my family has sufferes because of that.
Load More Replies...I wonder. What if he could get arrested right now, for admitting stealing that neighbour wifi. Lol that would have been a shame. The lesson here, as kendrick lamar would say - "Be humble!" Btw good job and all... ;)
And here I thought all you had to do to get into Harvard was to send in a PC resume bashing white males and western society. My bad.
Frankly, this is a much more inspiring story than seeing kids brag about their "hard work" in college even though mommy and daddy paid for their tuition and rent and that kid never had to work a day. This young man proves to the spoiled brats out there that hard work and dedication make the journey much more special than asking your parents for money once a week.
