Escaping Reality
Reading is one of my greatest pleasures, but I've switched to my Nook eReader. That way I can carry it anywhere I choose to go, and it holds a charge for a long time. My favorite spots are the couch, or my queen bed, where Charlie can be next to me, and I can pet him while I read. When I was young, I would never have dreamed of such a thing. :O

Ah yes! This is how I imagined my death scene would look like. Me lounging on the couch surrounded by boxes of takeaway with Netflix playing in the background...What a way to go
Being A Little Clumsy
Bathing As Long As You Want
Am I the only one that doesn't find baths in this kind of tub that relaxing? I'm not able to stretch out in them. I much prefer a hot tub or hot spring.
Enjoying The Little Things
I am blessed to be able to enjoy little things.... a hummingbird outside the front window; watching a turtle bury its eggs in the yard; electric colored, shy , bluebirds with a new family; wild ducks munching on sunflower seeds , a stray fox or wild turkey .... the beautiful sunrises & sunsets that are free to all . Life is good !

At her age I would never have thought of such a thing. Being alone would have been so depressing. But now at 73, I love my solitude more than almost anything else. My Charlie shares my bed at night, and I can do pretty much what I wish, because I'm self-employed, and my shop is in my basement. But what seems so natural to me looks a bit out of place with someone so young, and by all appearances content with herself. Of course, I suffer from depression and she obviously doesn't. 🤔
Oh John, I always love your comments on Boredpanda. You seem to be such a gentle and loving person! Take care of yourself 😊😊
Thanks Julien. I really appreciate the positive feedback. 👍
Such... a nice... comment... Julien you literally brought me to tears and I have no idea why :') It's comments like yours that keep me reading the comment sections on this website. I love BoredPanda T-T
The fact you have depression saddens me for it leaches out so much of the joy in living . So many sufferers have been helped by medication. Often , they have had to find the right one & the right dose & this can be challenging . John, you seem to enjoy your work , & , have a touching love for Charlie. You are a caring , emotionally stable person ,who has goals . That's more than many people possess.
Thanks Nancy. I'll be alright, and I have Charlie to keep me thinking positive. :D
It's not about age John, I am 38 and I live alone and I am not lonely, plus I have my fur babies to keep me company. We talk to each other and yes that sounds mad but they understand me better than any person. Loneliness is a feeling and I can feel far lonelier in a room full of family and friends than I ever do at home on my own. I am glad you have Charlie to keep you company and help you stay happy. And I agree with Julien you sound like such a sweet gentle soul :) :)
I love living alone. I can TOTALLY relax and be myself
Solitude does not come from living alone only, i actually enjoyed living alone for a time too.But social life and other many little things are there outside our doorstep. Don't isolate yourself!
you really don't know that she doesn't have depression though...
Solitude is something so rarely praised. I am 20 and I dread having someone by my side at all times. I wish more people would see the beauty in being alone.
I suffer from depression as well and I'm way more content with being alone than being around people. I'm somehow more productive on my own too so I guess it's just about the person and not the disorders they suffer from~
Hi John, 31 one year old woman with (mild-ish) chronic deoression here. I live on my own for the first time now. Before there had been family, a partner or flatmates. It's incredibly peaceful and freeing. I still work 45 hours a week out of the house, so I'm not confined to solitude. Also I have to make an effort to get out and spend time with friends. But having my own place, with no one else being able to interfere with it, is just priceless and brings me so much peace. I had been acting as a mother figure for so long even though I never had my own children. I need a break. You do seem like a lovely person, I hope you read this and can see my point of view. I hope you are doing well!
Give Charlie a hug for me! And hugs to you ^ ^ you are by far the best commenter on this site <3
Hi John, I've been depressed for a long time too and started to listen to 'Being you, changing the world' from Dain Heer and learned running Bars, after I brought my dad to a session because he was in a spiral of anxiety causing heart troubles and leveling up his stress and forgetfulness. After they run our Bars and we where outside, he said to me: it's quiet inside now..., I don't know what to do with that... And I've tried many things on him he wouldn't open up to, but this worked. And learned Bars to help him and made me connect to me again and even want to connect again with others. And that was frankly something I thought would never be possible again.
ok, don't really understand how it got posted twice, sorry about that

John there is no gay PR. Stop it with your conspiracies. The world has just gotten more open and fights for the rights of minorities. You don't like it? You don't have to comment. I wait for your reply on the transgender post. Too many transgender propaganda shoved down your throat? That would be your way of saying it. But the article with the single transman a couple of weeks ago generated so much hate, about one third of the comments being extremely hurtful. Showing that articles like this are still necessary.
Wrong person replied to, whoops. Still I won't let this "gentle and loving person" off the hook that doesn't want to see me or my friends in this world.

M.M. John's hate is right there in his reply. He doesn't want to see more LGTB posts because it's gay propaganda. Think about this for a minute. But he isn't hateful, because he "has a black/gay friend so he can't be racist/homophobic".

73 y/o and depressed. That explains your hate for LGTB people.
I haven't seen him show any hatred towards the LGTB community
KK, that's just not true. I have two "five percenter" interior designers who I make beautiful things for, and we go out, and do things together. What I don't care for is the constant bombardment of the LGTB community to force their agenda down everyone's throats. It's terrible PR, and my two designer friends agree with this 100%. This tends to turn others off, because it is constantly overdone. Its almost as if you all are programed to keep going, and don't know when enough is enough. As the old saying goes, "Too Much Of A Good Thing Is Still Too Much!"
There is no "agenda", that's straight out of Fox news. Educate yourself, then form an opinion.
RedPanda, if you could share a link with his "bigoted views" so we could "then form an opinion" and avoid people upvoting/downvoting comments with no insight (going back to people upvoting/downvoting things solely because they have a considerable amount of said upvotes/downvotes), then this conversation could actually end. Striking claims and insulting people really isn't helping us reach an opinion.
I agree, John, but you should be careful in how you say things if you want to avoid comments from people like KK. The way you worded that makes it sound like you believe that ALL people in the LGTB+ community force their lifestyle onto others. I would like to believe that you know that not all individuals in the community go on like this ... and would recommend that you specify as such if you wish to avoid being associated with homophobia.
I second KK. Just because random queer people agree with your bigoted views does not mean you're not perpetuating hate against LGBTQIA+
M.M, RedPanda Here's John's Anti Transpeople rant + a hatesite. Also check the forum he posts on. JohnL_Anti...891832.jpg
I think the ultimate form of freedom when living alone is going to the toilet without closing the door! :D
Unless you have a pet....and then you're never going to the toilet alone ever again.
That is so true. Before Charlie, I had a female Shih-tzu, PJ, and she always wanted to jump in the shower with me as well. I was always careful to use a special non irritant soap for her head, and held her in my arms just right. I would dry off first and then give her a blow dry on the rug. I made a big deal out of it, and she would play fight with me as I dried her off. We both loved every moment of it. Unfortunately, Charlie isn't in to that sort of thing.
Yes!!!! There is always a cat lurking somewhere in the bathroom!! :-D
My cat likes to stand on the ledge of the tub and try and attack me through the shower liner. He hates water but the need to be a little jerk is stronger.
So true! Can't have a bath without my girl lying on the bathroom floor.
Μy cat doesn't do that anymore... She only did when she was a kitten, now I think she grew out of it :D
And walking around naked.
and for guys, being able to leave the seat up and not getting yelled at - LOL
And doing some naughty things
In the hall. With the big screen TV connected to the laptop.
My gf doesn't close the door even when I am at home :)
Are you kidding me - when you have a family with kids you'll wish you could close the door :')
I can do all this although I am married too
me too..
