Hailey Bieber Fans Stand By Her Amid Backlash For New Beauty Accessory: “Iconic”

Instead of applause, Hailey Bieber is receiving plenty of jeers for her latest summer accessory.

The beauty mogul dropped photos to promote a new accessory produced by her brand Rhode Skin.

But netizens just weren’t impressed and asked, “Why did I think that was a bedazzled tampon for a second?”

The Rhode skin founder, 28, is currently promoting her new Lemontini Peptide Lip Tint.

As part of the campaign, she shared a series of photos of herself posing in a black bikini. And hanging on her waist was a Rhode belly chain, with the Lemontini Peptide Lip Tint hanging.

Fans wondered whether the belt-style belly-chain was a follow-up to her previous hit product—a phone case that could simultaneously hold a lipgloss.

“Omg the perfect tampon holder,” one commented online, while another asked, “Why would any woman want to wear there lip tint around the waist like that?”

“Please tell me I’m not crazy and this looks like a #Rhode tampon chain?” another quipped.

“The phone case was cute but she’s milking this concept now,” read one comment. “Celebrities are crazy. This is the most unnecessary thing ever.”

“This and the phone case are stupid as f*** to be honest, at this point she’s just trying to sell SUPER unnecessary things, consumerism at its max,” another critic said.

Some even questioned the choice of color for the product, prompting Hailey to address why it wasn’t “butter yellow.”

“Stop asking me why it’s not ‘butter yellow. It’s not butter yellow because it’s LEMON. not butter. and butter yellow is played out.. respectfully,” she wrote in an Instagram Story.

On the other hand, fans weren’t sure if Hailey would be selling the custom gold belly chain and said, “please release the waist chain too!!”

“Girl that belly chain with the peptide lip tint is too iconic omagash!” another said. “Marketing always slays!!!!”

The young entrepreneur, who shares son Jack Blues Bieber with her husband Justin Bieber, recently announced a billion-dollar deal involving Rhode Skin cosmetics.

She revealed in May that her company was being sold to e.l.f. Beauty for $1 billion.

The budget beauty giant would be paying $800 million in a combination of cash and stock to Hailey, her cofounders Lauren Ratner and Michael D. Ratner, and CEO Nick Vlahos.

The additional $200 million of potential earnout would be subject to performance and growth factors.

In light of the billion-dollar acquisition, Hailey’s father and actor Stephen Baldwin showered her with praises in a recent interview.

“It took her three years. What, did you think that was just some rotten tomatoes journey?” he said about the acquisition in a June 25 episode of The Adam Carolla Show.

“The cool part of it is she’s super smart, smart in business,” he went on to say. “Succeeded as a model prior to everything she’s doing now.”

“But the cool part was she actually had an offer to do something pretty big and cool in the cosmetics a couple years ago and didn’t.”

He asserted that the company “wouldn’t just be B.S.” if his 28-year-old daughter was going to “put her name on it.”

“The reason it’s succeeding is people are responding to it,” said the proud father. “It actually works as hydration and all of that.”

The Usual Suspects actor, who is also a father to Alaia Baldwin Aronow, 32, said he allows his children to “do what they’re doing.”
