Interview With Artist
Slice-of-life artist Bella Maris from Belgium is a gifted creator on social media. She enjoys creating witty comics about the difficulties women face in life and amusing situations. Over 117k fans of the artist adore her sense of humor. With that being said, we adore her artwork too, and this time we want to highlight some of her newest comics.

Just like last time, Bored Panda reached out to Bella with some new questions! First, we asked the artist if perhaps she had any upcoming series of works we should be looking forward to.
“Since I got pregnant and became a mom, I’ve been very inspired by all the new experiences I have as a new mom. Some moments are wholesome and some are challenging. Throughout the years, I share my story as a woman through my comics and now I’m planning to share this new chapter of my life with my audience. I have visualized all the ideas in my head, all I need to do is draw them into comics. I hope my audience will enjoy them once I put them out!”

I love Halloween so much that I've had a recurring dream about it everyday this past week. I haven't celebrated Halloween in a long time and this year will be the first time since 6 years:)

I dont care what holiday it is, if you want it up 365 keep it up 365. I start on Christmas right after Halloween every year, and dont give a damn about anyones opinion, its my house. When my granddaughter has her own house she will probably start Halloween in August every year also.

Over the years, Bella has created a lot of comics, therefore, we couldn't help but ask if the artist had a favorite one.
“The most recent one would be the comic about my interest in true crime and murder stories told by Bailey Sarian. Not long after I posted it, she left a comment for me and I was over the moon!”
The artist's style is quite colorful and fun to look at, however, for each artist, finding their own style is a journey of its own as you try new things along the way.
“As someone who spent years to find the art style that I finally feel comfortable with, I’d like to try and convert my comics into animation. It would be a nice addition to my platform!”

When my cousin was 15, she asked for clothes. The family were worried they'd get her stuff she didn't like. She told everyone to go buy the ugliest thing they could find, and she'd love it. Very smart young woman.

Each artist creates for a reason, and Bella is no different as she told us what she hopes to accomplish with her work, “All I want is to put a smile on someone’s face when they read my comics. I’m happy if I could make them feel seen and they can relate to my stories. With that being said, I’d like to publish my own comic books someday!”

True, wood floors all around. The broom and mop are so much better for puppy and kitty stress! And my pup loves the broom! It is totally adorable to watch her try to take the broom outside by the handle!!!

Oh yeah my parent's dogs could tell when it was dinner time within 10 minutes or so. However the shift from summer to winter time or the reverse, the would be knocked completely off rail.

It's bc they use the change in quality of light to tell. So when your dogs act like you've been gone forever even if you've just been gone five mins; they absolutely know it hasn't been long. There's several factors, but circadian rhythm is a large factor.

We set the kitchen timer at about 4:00 pm to make sure we feed the dogs on time at 5:00. Our newer dog has taken to "telling" us when it's 4:00 so we'll set the timer. Unfortunately, he's not as adept at telling time as our previous dogs. He even had 2 years of training with our old black greyhound who unfortunately died last April. We've done this for 30+ yrs! From German Shepherds to Border Collies to Greyhounds. I think they like it because we don't get complaints or begging from them. Try it. They like it!

I have a cat like this. Jack is very prompt—-to the second—-when it’s breakfast time, treat time, and dinner time. He is never ever late. Guess he’s got to stay nourished because, even though he was the tiny runt of his litter, he has grown into a big 15lb boy. He’s not fat, he has the bone structure of a big cat—-but absolutely zero Maine C**n, Norwegian Forest Cat, or other big cat breed DNA!

The positive comments encourage me to keep creating and the constructive ones help me improve and aim to do better with my work.
The special ones that give me an extra boost are from the artists or people that I look up to who are kind enough to leave me comments or even just like my posts.”

yep a lot of makeup only makes matters worse by clogging up the pores so the skin cannot "breathe" which will make it irritated and infected.

I just wash my face and moisturise with simple moisturiser daily. I don't wear make-up. That's all I need. I understand that some people with skin issues will use more products to ease irritation. People that don't have issues don't need lots of products or expensive ones.

I think all you really need is a cleanser and moisturizer. Also I stopped wearing cover up and my skin had improved so much. Don't wear cover up, you use it to cover your blemishes but it just creates more blemishes.

That's why women in the East barely age at all. You don't need more than rice and broccoli to survive, but every other food helps because it nourishes you. I have a Korean beauty skincare routine and it's done more for me than any American products ever have. It's many steps, but it's worth it. They start the anti aging process BEFORE they turn 40. Medicine works best when the problem isn't flared, skincare works best before wrinkles and age spots develop.

Yeah, I wish my self-esteem wouldn't take days off. I have days where I avoid the mirror and others I think, "Fear me, for I am a full bodied goddess with lightning veins decorating my skin and curves forever!"
Lastly, we wanted to know if the artist had any other hobbies besides making art, and Bella was more than happy to share a little bit more about herself and her interests.
“I love cooking and going for a walk with my dog and now also with my baby. I also love makeup so whenever I have some time off, I put my makeup on, cook something delicious and take my babies out for a walk.”

They DO tend to expand during the night. That tiny little dog—-or cat—-becomes enormous and leaves you with about 6 inches of bed right next to the edge. You have to tuck the sheet really tight under your legs to make a kind of hammock so you don’t fall off the bed.

I was one of those terribly regular people. I'd have to wait long enough to test even though I knew exactly how late I was. I say "was" because a had a total hysterectomy 10 years ago. Cancer. Don't worry, got it super early and I'm still just fine.

Mine was always one day earlier than the previous month, so I always knew when to be ready. When I got pregnant the first time, I knew I was pregnant when I realized I was four days late. That regularity changed when menopause kicked into high gear a year or so ago. 🙄

Definitely try them! And don't be intimidated by trying a new store out. They want you there, they need every customer they can get away from Walmart. 😊👍

I know that when my parents got married, my mum's mum was super fussy and said that there needed to be an equal number of guests on her side and on my dad's side. My dad's side of the family is huge so in the end she got frustrated and ended up inviting her friends who my parents didn't even know very well!

I started planning a big wedding but quickly realized I sucked at planning and so does my hubby. We also didn't have money to hire a planner. So basically we had a really small wedding with just immediate family members. My aunt was the officiant, my uncle was the photographer. We rented a space in a nice park for like 300 dollars and had everyone bring food, I even made my own cake (dark chocolate raspberry). All in all the whole thing cost like ...800 dollars. I wouldn't have had it any other way either, it was so nice and relaxing ❤️

I did the wedding thing. My sister asked if I'd ever do it again. She was so confused when I was just laughing and going "oh, sweetheart, no, never again." Not cause I wouldn't get married again should I get the opportunity again but just because it was the most stressful day of my life.

I scoop it up with my lips, my teeth are to sensitive to bite into ice cream. I just make like a kissy face basically and suck that ice cream up. It sounds really gross when I describe it...and now I want ice cream

I do "glow". Never had been better, the skin is smooth and silky,as is hair, no additional pounds but the baby and babys "room". I think it all depends on genes and hormones, you're either lucky or not😊

I was the size of the Hindenburg and went through the sweltering temps and heinous humidity of the deep South. I delivered both girls in September but it was still hotter than the hinges of Hades. I've never been so hot and miserable in my life! I was rubbish at _being_ pregnant but I had beautiful babies💞

I had to stop giving my animals Christmas gifts because one of our dogs gets too rowdy and thinks it's a competition. Like, if he tears all these things open first that means it's his. It's still kind of a problem. XD they all get special treats outside though.
